We were hungry, looking around for food in Tst when we spotted the sign for Chop House from Knutsford Terrace. Having heard about it from before and knowing that it was under the same company as Wooloo-Mooloo, we decided to give it a try.
Upon arrival, I thought the location and the vibes were very nice. I was sold on the place at first sight. We were seated under 5 minutes and we ordered burrata as a starter, spaghetti Bolognese, slow roasted chicken and pork ribs to share with a side of spinach and mushrooms. The staff who took our order asked us to clarify 3 times which is excusable because we all have those days. We ordered 2 glasses of pinot noir (red) to go with our meal. We were given white wine instead. That was quickly rectified.
The Burrata arrived after 10mins. It's cheese so maybe that's the reason it was the only good thing out of everything we ordered. Whilst having our starter, the spinach and mushroom, which we ordered as a side for the chicken and ribs arrived within a minute. That was a bit odd. The spinach and mushroom were sautéed with salt and had nothing special about them. The Bolognese arrived in sequence fairly quickly. It was the worst Bolognese I've had in a restaurant. It was too sweet and tasted like the popular fast food chain Jolibee's spaghetti. For $145, I did not expect the taste of a $45 meal.
The "slow cooked chicken" and pork ribs came 20 minutes after the pasta. That chicken was not seasoned at all. How hard is it to season a chicken? Very dry with no taste. The "slow cooked chicken" was clearly not slow cooked or it was stale and reheated. The pork ribs were the only thing edible that the restaurant had cooked. Thank god, we could eat something without disappointment seeping into my soul. The meat came with a side of coleslaw. The coleslaw was pre-made which is fine but it had a very pungent smell to it. As a diner, it's not a good sign to be able to tell that food you are served was pre-made.
You can go for drinks but leave for dinner. There is no effort or heart put into any of the dishes to make it enjoyable for the customers. The staff were huddled in the corner, speaking louder than the customers. Management is very low quality for certain.
