I had the privilege of visiting the Spoon in London and have quite a high expectation to the one in Hong Kong. Superb view and impressive wine list. Decor is simple & contemporary, except that tables are too proximate to each other. As appetiser, we had a chef's selection to share, comprising of a lobster salad, gazpacho, ox tail soup and a egg white mouse with truffles. For entree I had the sea bass and my friend opted for the Wagyu steak. Very fine food although the portion could really be bigger. (On the other hand, us Chinese can't really consume all of the 8 dishes in the Sexy Sunset Menu either!) The only problem with the restaurant is a narrow selection of food in the menu.

Went there two months ago for a birthday dinner and was disappointed overall. Service was good and setting was ok, but the overall space is really too small and tables were quite close together. All of us agreed that the food was not spectacular given the price. It wasn't that anything was bad, but nothing was very good, and most of it was bland (lacking in taste). Bottled water costs over $100 each. For a per person cost of $800-$900, it was not worth it at all and will not go again.

It was a wonderful evening to us with excellent food and magnificent view of the harbour. A small lobster appetizer was served as compliment. The 6-course dinner included tuna jelly, lobster salad, soup tasting (tomato, beef and mushroom cream), risotto with chicken kebah, veal and desert (strawberry cappuccino or chocolate cake), ended with a strong coffee. It was a wonderful evening to us with excellent food and magnificent view of the harbour.
A small lobster appetizer was served as compliment. The 6-course dinner included tuna jelly, lobster salad, soup tasting (tomato, beef and mushroom cream), risotto with chicken kebah, veal and desert (strawberry cappuccino or chocolate cake), ended with a strong coffee. Local ingredients (such as Chinese cabbage) were mixed with imported ingredients. But, for sure all final dishes were in authentic French taste. Price of the set was not cheap ($750), nor those of mineral water ($130) and house wine ($200). It would be worth coming just for the harbour view. Yet, the seating plan was somewhat overcrowded and it was a pressure for us to complete the dinner in 2 hours as required by the receptionist, perhaps this is a standard practice of restaurants in Hong Kong. I have never encountered such a stringent rule in restaurants of other cities. (P.S. The restaurant was almost full house. Booking is a must for window seats.)

Last night was my first visit to Robatayaki. I’ve been anticipating my visit to this restaurant for a couple of months now and when I finally dined there I was satisfied from the first bite to the last. Last night was my first visit to Robatayaki. I’ve been anticipating my visit to this restaurant for a couple of months now and when I finally dined there I was satisfied from the first bite to the last.

The main layout of the restaurant was very comfortable with an open display of the available seafood, meats and vegetables. My BF & I started out with a Sashimi Mori ($550) ; an assortment of thickly cut sashimi. There Yellowtail belly, Sweet Shrimp, Salmon, Tuna, Squid, Geoduck (elephant trunk clam) and Heaven-in-your-mouth Toro. Every slice was full of umami flavor and had beautiful texture. This was simply the best sashimi I had ever had (even better than fresh sashimi from the Tokyo fish market).

The Gindara ; grilled cod ($110), a well-known must-have. It was tender, it was sweet, and it was succulent. The cod fulfilled my expectations and more! The strands of flaky fish melted as it combined with the kewpie mayonnaise and steamed rice. That was definitely a MUST-HAVE.

Then Mentaiko teba; Spicy Fish Roe ($65). Salty, not very spicy. Good with a bold chilled Sake.
Next up we ordered the Fuoagura; Foie Gras ($175). This genuine goose liver had a light smoky flavor from the dark sauce that complemented. The texture of the foie gras was soft and silky smooth beyond belief as it barely had veins. The sauce from the Fuoagura parcel was so blissful with steamed rice, I even ordered an extra rice to bring home with the sauce.

Teba saki; Grilled Chicken Wings ($15/pc). Can I say those were the best chicken wings ever? Yes I can. Chef slowly grilled our wings for 20 minutes till the skin was delicately crispy, not oily and the meat was oh so flavorful. Ogura; Grilled Okra ($55). Slowly grilling and light seasoning of salt is a great and simple way to bring out flavors to enjoy okra. Ramu; Lamb Chop ($50/pc), ordered medium rare, cooked to tender perfection. We asked the chef to not add the extra dark sauce to taste the true flavors of the meat. It was a well-built flavor and we believe that the meat was aged. Mmm.

And to top it off we ordered the homemade sesame ice-cream ($50) and grapefruit ice-cream ($50). The sesame I/C tasted alright, not too special and not really worth the $50. The grapefruit I/C had candied grapefruit peel and had a tantalizing creamy grapefruit flavor.

Our chef, Mr. Hui was very polite and was glad to answer any questions we had regarding the food. He also secretly revealed that the cod was marinated overnight in a miso-Sake mixture to give it the tender texture and incredible sweetness.

The bill came to a total of $1100 for two (and we had 20% off discount since I had the Harbour Plaza Dining Club Card). In conclusion, my first experience of Robatayaki was a truly positive one, the food is exquisite and I’m sure to go again.

Must say the food was fabulous. My boyfriend ordered lamb while I had fish. Both were perfectly cooked. Especially the lamb, I think it\'s the best I ever tasted, the meat was super tender. The fish comparatively is not as superb but you won\'t be disappointed either. Strongly recommend to try their special hour treat. Only $450 for 4 courses if dine in between 6-7 or after 10pm.

待應生服務好好,我去完洗手間,佢就會係坐位的旁邊等候,再幫我拉椅及放餐巾,真係好專業。最後廚師還走到我們的桌,友善地問食物是否ok,真係好周到。

酒店有免費泊車四小時,可以慢慢享受晚餐。

Booking: made few days ahead of an anniversary day, good folo up; required window seat, got it. required non smoking area, got it, but right next to the smoking area, so a bit disappointed cos having to smell the 2nd hand smoke once in a while.Environment: kinda crammed, table too close to each other for a restaurant charging that much and selling five-star environment. window view nice, but the ferries with stupid flashing lights decoration passing by in front have killed just about half the mo

Environment: kinda crammed, table too close to each other for a restaurant charging that much and selling five-star environment. window view nice, but the ferries with stupid flashing lights decoration passing by in front have killed just about half the mood and appetite (not trying to blame the restaurant though).

Service: very good, but the waiter who gave his name to us should have stayed with us the whole night right from the start to giving us the bill, so that he alone could pocket the tips, not sharing with others like what most non-western restaurants do. Wine glasses should be placed in wine bar or out of customers\' sight, so that i wont feel like eating beside a cupboard. Other than that, service up to expectation.

Wine list: abundant to choose from, bit pricey though as by the glass averaging over $120 each. the two of us ordered a bottle of white, cant finish.

Menu: although not much variety, still kinda complicated due to the different combo customers could choose from, and made me dizzy and felt pressured.

Food: sexy 6-course menu should come in smaller portion for each course, good for men but maybe a little too much for women. btw, price might have increased from what i heard before around $680 to $750, price gone up also for 8-course sexy menu.

for my gf who ordered the 6-course, da duo appetizers were pea custard (excellent) and lobster, mozarella and tomato salad (very good); soup tasting with hot beef stalk, cold romaine lettuce and hot potato soups (all good but already kinda stuffy after that cos we also ate lots of nice hotly served bread up front); duo entree were seafood pasta (good despite several pasta too chewy) and baked sea bass (very good, since no restaurants in hk ever served the fatty creamy sea bass like those served in canada); dessert was pistachio icecream sandwiched in meringue and served with a ph-1 level sour rasberry paste (good); also come with coffee or tea
for me, i ordered rock fish soup with calamari and mussels for appetizer (fish soup very good, but doesnt mix with calamari and mussel very well) and ham and truffle pasta for entree (as i said it, u see ham slices and fine-chopped truffle on pasta and thats\' all folks, bit too salty and not quite worth $210); no more room for dessert or drinks.

overall: nice, but not worth the price, would not recommend others or go again myself

It's a very nice meal which (with a glass of white wine), it seemed a bit costly for lunch. Of course I won't spend that much on every meal in the afternoon. On the whole it's a good experience.

因為男友生日,所以係第一次到三星級餐廳(spoon)先講一講個環境:一進入餐廳就見到落地大玻璃,維港夜景,超靚呀!! 令我覺得好舒服.....服務:待應生好專業,對各樣菜式都作簡單介紹,待應會在適當的時間出現食物:我地叫左個6-course SEXY SPOON,我覺得最特別就係soup tasting,最好味就係個主菜,真係好好味....但係個甜品就差左d喇~

因為男友生日,所以係第一次到三星級餐廳(spoon)

先講一講個環境:一進入餐廳就見到落地大玻璃,維港夜景,超靚呀!! 令我覺得好舒服.....

服務:待應生好專業,對各樣菜式都作簡單介紹,待應會在適當的時間出現

食物:我地叫左個6-course SEXY SPOON,我覺得最特別就係soup tasting,最好味就係個主菜,真係好好味....

但係個甜品就差左d喇~

之前聽過不少Spoon同Alain Ducasse嘅報道,食神對佢expectation好高.其實食神素來唔鍾意太嚴肅嘅餐廳,Spoon裝修好簡單, 佢無Petrus果種莊嚴同神聖不可侵犯之餘,仲有無敵海景.前菜: 'The Egg'係Spoon Appetizer必食之選,鵝肝蒸蛋配D小龍蝦, Combination無得頂.食神嘅肥肥女友啫哩人就order咗Carpaccio of snapper (如圖).主菜: 食神叫咗Lobster Crumble. 龍蝦雖然唔算好大但勝在多肉. 加上泰式酸辣嘅汁,絕配!甜品: Chocolate dome, 朱古力面包住D mousse...都唔錯.服務: 非常好. 侍應好後生但非常友善同殷勤.總結: 兩人唔開酒大約$1200左右,以Spoon嘅名氣,絕對值回票價.
