I must say the ambience is real good. I especially like the outdoor area, definitely a good choice for friends hang out.But food wise... hm I am never a fan of innovative cookings, both ingredients and method wise. So I guess Domani is not my cup of tea. The black ink squid dish was quite disappointing actually. Boyfriend's dish was slightly better but with the amount we were paying, there are lots of alternatives out there.However if you need a place just to hang out or a cup of coffee, this is

I really like this place. Prior to coming here, I've tried Aspasia (pretty good modern italian cuisine) and Sabatini (which is good but also more old-fashioned). I like both of these restaurantsI think Domani has an very interesting, innovative Italian menu using traditional seasonal local and italian ingredients. I love the Sardinian gnochetti with lamb ragout ! The black squid ink dish was good but flavor of the seafood was not intense enough. Desserts were creative but taste wise - wasn't

I think Domani has an very interesting, innovative Italian menu using traditional seasonal local and italian ingredients. I love the Sardinian gnochetti with lamb ragout ! The black squid ink dish was good but flavor of the seafood was not intense enough. Desserts were creative but taste wise - wasn't that wow....Wine list was very comprehensive.

The ambience is lively with a fun bustling open kitchen. At the same time, the best thing is that the tables outside are more fun in nice HK winter weather. Good place for both biz or "lunch with the girls". Service was good but can be spotty depending which waiter you get.

I will definitely come back again!

昨晚同老婆拍拖週年紀念, 見近排好多雜誌都有介紹Domani, 就上去試試.去到門口, 見到間玻璃屋, 真係好似D雜誌介紹咁, 好靚. 入到去, 環境都唔錯.我地兩個人叫左個SET DINNER, 再加一個PASTA.頭盤未到, 先食D麵包, 個麵包真係令人失望, 冷冰冰, 硬倔倔, 一D都唔好味.食左幾個頭盤, 味道都可以, 但係感覺就樣樣都凍凍地,主菜, 一個牛柳, 還可以, 但就唔係話好好味, 非食不可果D.最離譜個PASTA, 本身個味唔錯, 可惜D意粉居然未熟, 同佢講, 係咁意再煮煮就比返你. 失望.甜品都OK啦.杯咖啡.......我覺得我屋企部機沖出來d會好飲D.埋單一千四百幾, 本來咁環境呢個價錢就唔貴, 可惜D野真係唔得.

Called on Sunday for reservation on Tuesday, the receptionist said that the restaurant is full (hmm, I thought recession is coming to town) and put me on a waiting list. A couple hours later, the same person called & said that they managed to arrange a reservation for me. Am I grateful for that? Yes or no. No, because I felt that's a tactic leaving an impression that this place is popular.

Tuesday night, arrived with my wife at 7:00 pm. The place is almost empty, at best, 2 tables.

Menu selection is OK, could be better with more choices. One big disappointment is the waiters/waitresses. My wife asked a few questions on the menu items, & they could answer them properly. This is not someone expect from a highend dinning place.

Food is OK, tasty but lack of the "wow" factor, ambience is good, not too crowded & the ceiling is high enough, price is on the high end, 2 people full dinner with 2 glasses of wine ended with a HK$1,000 per head.

Checked with the waiter, this place is actually owned by Grappers ...

入正題之前,我得先說說這裡的餐包。前去之前看過食評,知道曾有食家兩人前去有八個餐包,我身為餐包怪,當然心裡大喜。

我們七個人,他們給了十二個餐包。我急不及待拿了一個,花了五分鐘,都無法把宅分開一半。出盡了九牛二虎之力,再加上用餐刀試試,還是拿它沒辦法。五分鐘後,看著滿碟的麵包屑,我只好放棄了。後來同事拿起這款包,也發現它實在不好對付。我轉而試試另一款較深色的提子包,總算搏鬥成功,勉強可把它分開來了。但......我已經灰心......對這兒的餐包完全失去興趣......


先來個 prawn gnocchi,賣相吸引,但這大概是我第一 / 二次吃 gnocchi,我個人不太喜歡那粉粉的感覺。調味倒是可以的。

主菜是 pork fillet,樣子可人,切開了內裡也帶點 pink,吃起來嘛......不過不失 -- 如果價錢是 $100 以下的話。

綜合其他同事的 comment,這一頓實在不得不給一個"喊樣"。

甜品,chocolate mousse & coconut,同事說是整餐最好吃的,我個人覺得......不喜歡那 texture,中間又是有點粉粉的,是什麼我說不上來,總之... not my cup of tea 啦...

又一次證明,love at first sight 不一定 work 的!
如果天氣好,我相信坐室外會更好!

The space was very nicely done - comfortable seating and nice, high ceilings. There was an outdoor section which looked pretty cozy, but it's a smoking section and I saw people puffing away.I ordered a 3-course set lunch, since I was warned about the smallish portions by my lunch date. On her previous visit, she was unsatiated after two courses and thus was compelled to have dessert. I figured I could have something light and healthy...I started with panzanella con cannocchie, sedano e anguria.

I started with panzanella con cannocchie, sedano e anguria. The small but juicy and delicious mantis shrimp (with the colorful nickname of 賴尿蝦) are laid on top of a pile of flavored breadcrumbs, with shredded celery on the side drenched with olive oil. And yes those are watermelon blocks on the plate. Overall the dish was reasonably light and tasty. Not a bad start.

My main course was cernia con carciofi e salsa al vino bianco. The garoupa was fried and reasonably tasty, but it was a tad dry for my taste. It's easy to get good steamed garoupa at any Chinese restaurant, or even at cha chan teng (茶餐廳), so I was little disappointed today. The gob of foam on top is flavored with artichokes, and there are also artichokes on the side.

I was actually reasonably full at this point, but went for the ananas, lime, granitas menta. The chunks of pineapple are topped with a big scoop of crushed ice, flavored with lime and Crème de Menthe - hence the hint of alcohol. Pretty refreshing and light.

In spite of the execution for the garoupa, I still thought lunch was pretty decent. I'm curious about how this place would do for dinner, so I'll just have to make a trip back some time and see (and taste) for myself.

餐廳分室內及室外兩邊,我們就坐在埋邊靠窗的位置,可以看到整間餐廳。拿餐牌一看,可能是新張的關係,內容很簡單,前菜、湯、意粉、海鮮及肉類都只得兩、三個選擇,甜品就較豐富一點。走的是意料中的高價路線,湯及甜品百多,前菜二百多,肉類主菜三百以上,再加上飲品及酒類,吃一千大元一個人頭是絕對輕易的事。拿著餐牌看了又看,對不起,沒有什麼心水,就要了個焗釀梭魚作前菜,肉類主菜只有羊架或乳鴿,海鮮類主菜就是加拿大龍蝦﹝加拿大?!﹞及煎鱸魚,俱不吸引,就要了個簡單又難做得好的蜆肉意粉Vongole。

先來八個的小圓麵包,以二人份量計,絕對的慷慨又大埋頭。分別是核桃提子包及小法包,俱烘得熱熱的,皮脆內軟,美味。不過這裡既不給橄欖油及醋,也沒有牛油的,要的話就要自己開聲。

眼見餐廳客人不多,廚房也明明很多人在工作,但也不知何解,要等上大概二十分鐘,才有東西吃,是運作還未暢順的關係吧。先來的焗釀梭魚香噴噴的,幾對辦。先吃面層的魚,皮焗得脆,肉也嫩滑,焗得幾夠火侯。內裡釀了菠菜及芝士在內的,鹹香有致又跟魚鮮味幾配合,有水準。可惜底層的魚肉是有點過熟,比較鞋口,是對火路的掌握還未十足通透吧;

吃罷前菜,又是等了一等,意粉也來了。意粉非自家製,不要緊,但做得很al dente,吃起來很有咬口,亦不會過硬,完全是剛剛好。不要以為al dente很容易,在香港的餐廳要吃到標準的al dente,我可以說是兩年還不到一遇,今天算是遇到了。意粉是微微的煙薰味,加上香草及橄欖油香,可以說是好吃的。但可惜,這裡的蜆肉是毫不鮮美,一個好吃的Vongole,缺少了靈魂,還可以說什麼?這也解釋了何以在香港難以做好意大利菜的原因,沒有新鮮的食材,就算廚功再好也難以發揮,因為新鮮的食材就正是意大利菜的精髓。

朋友吃的是黑松露的「the black hole」及燒羊架,看樣子也對辦的。

甜品環節,也沒有什麼心水,就分吃了朋友的Ciocco & Cocco是熱朱古力浮在凍椰子上面。賣相幾得意,吃起來卻沒有什麼,因為朱古力的濃味蓋過一切,凍椰子的角色就像一些冷凍劑。

侍應人手足夠,服務也好,是高級餐廳的水準來的。

連飲品,價錢是七百五左右吧。

如果要比較起回憶中的Uliassi,同一個大廚,這裡是完全另一間店子。但要跟現時香港的幾間頂級意大利餐廳爭長短,我相信還是可以的。不過如果要吃這裡的話,我覺得至少要給這裡兩個月時間,待其餐牌上的選擇豐富一點,及運作更暢順時來吃,就更物有所值。而下年度的米芝蓮推介,是順理成章的其中一員。

For appetizer I ordered a dish called Black Hole. It's potato fondant (basically very buttery mashed potato) with pieces of shrimp mixed in, topped with black truffle jelly, pieces of black truffle and truffle oil. Sounds very tempting with so much truffle and it turned out ok. The taste of black truffle wasn't very obvious as the buttery taste of the potato dominated.

For main course, I had the Black Angus Beef Tenderloin. The steak was very tender and juicy and cooked just to my request (medium rare). The sauce was some kind of balsamic sauce and it went well with the meat. Side dish was potatos and red peppers which were nothing to write home about.

The dessert was the best dish. I can't recall the name of it but it had coconut ice-cream in the bottom of a glass and a thick layer of chocolate sauce on top with bits of crunchy things inside. It was quite a delight.

Service was satisfactory but a bit slow. But one would expect that from a newly opened restaurant. However, the waiter wasn't very familiar with all the dishes on the menu and wasn't able to give us much explanation when we had queries. So there is still room for improvement.

Beside my personal experience with the dishes I ordered, my friends think their dishes were ok (not exceptional). The squab my friend ordered was quite good. Pasta and fish were just so so.

In terms of price, the appetizers range from $200-300. Main courses are in the high $200 to $300 range. Desserts were all over $100.

Overall, I thought the experience was not bad at all and I would not mind paying another visit to try their regular menu.
