原本想將呢個omelette會係類似西班牙蛋餅咁,但係一上菜,真唔係嚇親!蛋餅上面擺住嗰三舊,係肥豬肉,五花籃_^
會係類似西班牙蛋餅咁,但係一上菜,真係嚇親!蛋餅上面擺住嗰三舊,係肥豬肉,五花腩!!Menu上面有寫omelette嘅材料,諗住啲肉會喺蛋餅入邊作餡料,絕對想像唔到係當topping咁係個蛋餅上面!雖則唔係健康之食的首選,但係五花腩表面有焦糖化,我切左啲脂肪,淨係食肉的部份,非常入味!至於個蛋餅, Menu上寫所選用嘅係時蔬,當日食嘅蛋餅入邊有大量韭菜,用料都好新鮮,好味!

The Fry Up
Fusion款式嘅all day breakfast!
圖左嘅係山葵炸條,好新穎,將山葵切幼,再沾炸粉炸到香脆,雖然話係煎炸嘢食,但係炸山葵都不算太油。中間有塊厚切培根,由於真係大啲heavy,都係食左兩啖,味道偏喊!右下嘅係豬肉腸,煎之餘仲有落一籃子嘅香料,如果淨食腸的話,味到一樣偏濃偏鹹。成碟菜比較合口味的就係塊naan,有少少鹹味,亦有啤酒嘅香氣,送豬肉腸食就岩岩好啦!

到今日最想食嘅pancake, Menu上可惜沒有其他部落上看到的香蕉pancake,但係有呢個sticky toffee buckcakes,由於Pancake係用蕎麥粉整,口感比較鬆散,軟身同平時街上食到嘅pancake嘅質感非常唔同,每塊pancake中間亦都夾咗切碎嘅梨粒,同濃稠嘅toffee醬汁形成強烈對比,甜耶耶得來亦都多一份清新感!

總括來說,如果追求健康飲食,少鹽少油少醬料嘅食物的話,呢間餐廳未必啱你,不過如果喜歡fusion菜,或者喜歡味道濃郁嘅食物的話,可以不妨試試!

BlackSalt does a great weekend brunch. The store itself is pretty small and compact, with a few tables placed outdoors which is pretty nice when the weather is cool and the sun is out. Dish 1 is the Kata Murga Benedict ($130). What made this dish stand out was the absolutely delicious pulled poultry tikka masala which was tender and flavourful!

Dish 2 is the Grilled chutney and cheese croquet madame. While this was also tasty, it lacked the final touch to elevate the dish and set it apart from others that also serve croquet Madame.

All in all it was a great lunch experience and hope to be back to try their dinner in the future!

The food wasn't bad at all but it just takes a lot of time before it arrives. I waited 45 min atleast and I don't think that the food is that good to wait for. Don't go there if you are hungry. Maybe go there if you think you are going to get hungry. Tables were not clean also, the sides of the tables contained some oil spill and it got on my white t-shirt.

鋪頭細細,cozy(即迫同唔太過舒服) ,但 surprisingly, 味道好好。亞洲風味菜,但又比傳統稍作改良迎合現代人口味。staff service 亦 good.

went for dinner with friends having voracious appetite. cozy on the side of squeezed but that is lending to the overall atmosphere. great Indian fusion with some decadent ingredient - some were sort of average fusion. Love the Iberico ham samosa! Loved the  Char Siu. the waitress was a tiny bit pushy while we were selecting menu but. oh well, we can always try that variation next time. good balance of spicy and not so spicy (spicy lover here) and meat and veg. would come back again -  the menu i

I’ve no shame in admitting that the former comes easier to me than the latter. Writing astutely about food, or more precisely, writing about flavour is remarkably difficult. 

Which is a problem when you visit a restaurant like Black Salt. 

The usual trope of adjectives that are the mainstay of your average TripAdvisor critic just don’t cut it. Succulent. Mouth-watering. Foodgasm. F**k off. 

BlackSalt deserves better than that. BlackSalt deserves real appreciation for the simile of ingredients that make up the layers of flavour. 

I’ve had a review of BlackSalt sitting impotently on my desktop since its first month of opening. Over the course of the year since then I’ve haven’t been able to bring myself to hit publish. I hadn’t done justice to the complexity and vibrancy of flavour that each dish delivers.  

So, on a cold Monday evening and with Mrs A away on business, I called upon the joys of online dining platform . With an extravagant disregard for my bank balance I ordered enough food to feed a Texan family of four.  

Since my first outing, the menu has further been defined and refined. Luckily, they have lost the Szechuan dumplings and Peking duck mos, which were an unnecessary nod to Black Salt’s Honk Kong back alley location. Unluckily, the remarkably decadent lamb rhapsody biriyani is not available for home delivery. 

Although it came in enough cardboard packaging to fill a landfill, the food arrived with restaurant quality presentation. The Keralan beet ‘chop’ in particular, was beautifully displayed with meticulous layers of ingredients. This meant that the flavours could be sampled individually or taken as a whole, without them losing any of their charm. Dried coconut gave the grated beetroot patty a fruity vibrancy that made the otherwise earthy vegetable uncommonly addictive. My only complaint was that there wasn’t more of it. The beetroot was hidden in a little too much of the spiced spinach ‘porridge’, avocado and sour green yogurt. This delivered much needed savoury contrast, but I found myself scooping it all to the edge of my plate in order to get to the maroon slithers below. The dish was finished with brittle sprout crisps which had the sugary sweetness
of burnt onion.  

The menu is an enlightened interpretation of Nepalese, Bengali and Sri Lankan cuisine. As such, you genuinely feel like you’re trying something new,
without a nagging sense of contrivance. The Bangin’ bharta for example, is a falafel like ball of minced kidney bean served with eggplant stew. These crumbled in my mouth unleashing a chalky dry hint of cumin. Bittersweet clumps of lightly smoked eggplant, provided just enough moisture to prevent the bharta from cloying to the roof of your mouth. 

The Kothu Roti also remained free of fusion fussing, but again, the flavours are expertly layered, ensuring no taste is lost or over
powered. I spent time happily picking out bits of asparagus and pulled chicken, but like Serendip, you gain maximum enjoyment from loading your
fork and shoving as much in your gob as possible. Taken as a whole the Kothu was slightly chewy and had a woody, wet bamboo flavour. However, biting intensity was delivered by sambal and fingernail slithers of raw garlic, ginger and coconut added a sweet warmth.

The candied bacon is exactly that; thick slabs of pig loin slathered in a sticky, sweet tar. You can’t eat many, but those that you do deliver the same messiness and warmth as the recollection of a first love. 

The house beer naan unfortunately didn’t live up to its billing. The dominant ingredient was fresh parsley, which had the unintended effect of killing any flavour it came into contact with. That said, it was perfectly adept at mopping up entrails of the other dishes and you’d be forgiven for ordering a second.  

For all my enjoyment of the food, eating BlackSalt’s fare at home feels like a slight betrayal. Although I set out to do justice to the flavours, the reality is you can’t do justice to the restaurant without visiting Fuk Sau Lane. In that little enclave of Sai Ying Pun, Taran Chadha has created a
very happy place. Despite bringing a little happiness to my otherwise drab, lonely apartment, flavours shouldn’t really be separated from the experiences. So, I’ll be making another booking very soon.

I had brunch here and after being captivated by their menu choices and reviews I was a little disappointed. Not so much with the food, but more with the atmosphere (it's really crammed) and the slow service. They did warn us that our dishes would be slow, but as we were already there and booked this a week in advance we just had to go with it. I was also happy to try the chickpea pancakes as I haven't had something like this before it was not savory, it was sweet and quite nice. I will also add that each dish we had and saw passing was absolutely beautifully presented - very insta-worthy! Overall, while the food was a 4/5 for me, good but not wow. I will return for their dinner menu (as I'm still intrigued to try some dishes) once the hype has died down.

I get worried by restaurants that describe themselves as fusion. Isn’t all food kind of fusion; whether it’s adjusting tastes to modern palates, making spicy food more edible for non-natives, or just integrating local ingredients? Fusion always struck me as a 90’s phase where it was in vogue to smash different cuisines together, whether it worked or not. Modern fusion cuisine I suppose consists of the survivors of this apocalypse: e.g. Italian-Japanese, Latin-Chinese etc.

Anyway, Blacksalt is more like modern Indian than any kind of fusion, as the foreign influences are noticeable but not at the expense of traditional Indian flavors. I understand very little of how Indian food is prepared, but I’ve eaten my fair share of it over the years, so i was surprised by Blacksalt’s novel yet sophisticated flavors.
The menu is wonderfully limited, and all dishes are “short plate”;  perfect for the food, which is relatively rich – a small plate goes a long way. 

Even the complementary starter, a plate of lentils/yogurt and poppadums was delicious… ate every bite.
We had three dishes between the two of us:

Fishcakes in octopus curry – phenomenal dish! The fishcakes were chunky barramundi with barely any flour/cornstarch (if any?), while the coconut yellow curry with octopus chunks was a perfect accompaniment – rich but just the right consistency.

Wagyu beef cheek on bed of mashed potatoes – this was delicious as well –tender chunks of beef cheek in an Indian-western (spicy) gravy atop a bed of velvety mashed potatoes. Was a huge portion – we could barely finish half.

Some kind of vegetable dish (I remember it being called Roti-something?) The only average dish of the night – not sure what to make of it exactly. A mix of vegetables and spices that didn’t really work for me, but still quite edible.

Blacksalt is tiny, with the largest tables for groups of four. Sit at the bar counter to check out the food prep though, it’s a fun time. Prices are reasonable, with each dish about 150-200 – for two people with a couple drinks, it ended up at about 770.

The food at Blacksalt is dynamic and delicious, and at prices I wouldn’t expect for this quality. Definitely worth a visit even if you don’t normally enjoy Indian food.

BS Fry up等了差不多30分鐘終於做好了,比我想像中大盤很多。很多不同的配料,最搶眼的當然是灑了不少paprika 的煎雙蛋,兩隻蛋都呈糖心狀態,配上少量鹽吃,超香蛋味,不管多邪惡我都會把它吃掉。而我最喜愛的是那兩條被切開,上面塗滿沙律醬再焗至金黃的tandoori 烤香腸,很重口味,但兩者配合得很好,沒有過咸,所以雖然重味但卻令人有想一口一口接著吃的衝動。澱粉質方面則有一塊全麥烤餅,烤得很香口而且煙韌十足,可以包著其他配料同吃。至於炸秋葵,其實一開始很害怕,但店家把它們炸得超香脆,而且沒有那種滑澀澀的感覺。主角介紹完了,但配菜也一點不馬虎,車厘茄煎得把糖分都逼了出來,很甜很多汁。還有一小碗焗豆,又是焗至軟稔,中東味十足,吃完這份早餐飽得一天都可以不用吃東西了。Bomb the day Omlette很巨型的一客奄列,上面放了三粒厚切煙肉,煙肉同樣是層層分明,三塊煙肉上面都有不同的配料,有像蔥絲的,奄春蛋和甜椒醬。奄春蛋同樣是流心的,可是比雞蛋更加膠質,與煙肉同吃實在是十分邪惡。而甜椒醬則是清新選擇,中和了肉的肥膩。到了主角奄列了,一切開就感受到其實在的材料,有蛋,香料,洋蔥,香

等了差不多30分鐘終於做好了,比我想像中大盤很多。很多不同的配料,最搶眼的當然是灑了不少paprika 的煎雙蛋,兩隻蛋都呈糖心狀態,配上少量鹽吃,超香蛋味,不管多邪惡我都會把它吃掉。而我最喜愛的是那兩條被切開,上面塗滿沙律醬再焗至金黃的tandoori 烤香腸,很重口味,但兩者配合得很好,沒有過咸,所以雖然重味但卻令人有想一口一口接著吃的衝動。澱粉質方面則有一塊全麥烤餅,烤得很香口而且煙韌十足,可以包著其他配料同吃。至於炸秋葵,其實一開始很害怕,但店家把它們炸得超香脆,而且沒有那種滑澀澀的感覺。主角介紹完了,但配菜也一點不馬虎,車厘茄煎得把糖分都逼了出來,很甜很多汁。還有一小碗焗豆,又是焗至軟稔,中東味十足,吃完這份早餐飽得一天都可以不用吃東西了。

Bomb the day Omlette
很巨型的一客奄列,上面放了三粒厚切煙肉,煙肉同樣是層層分明,三塊煙肉上面都有不同的配料,有像蔥絲的,奄春蛋和甜椒醬。奄春蛋同樣是流心的,可是比雞蛋更加膠質,與煙肉同吃實在是十分邪惡。而甜椒醬則是清新選擇,中和了肉的肥膩。到了主角奄列了,一切開就感受到其實在的材料,有蛋,香料,洋蔥,香蔥等配料,加上了重重的中東香料,十分重口味,那種香料在口腔徘徊很久。

這間小店座位很少,所以星期六日的brunch必須訂座。我很喜歡這種休閒的星期日早上,在一間在角落的小店渡過一天的上午。

Watching the pancake that got made right in front of my eyes was so delightful. The pancake is packed with different flavors and texture, the caramelized walnut are so great! Recommend.

This is really heavy! Maybe not a good idea for brunch.. plus being in front of the kitchen eventually gets to that tipping point where u just cant stand it anymore, all the oil smoke ☹️so the brunch started off great, but by the end my friend and I just can't wait to get out of the restaurant. Life tip: Definitely don't pick the bar seats when the kitchen is busy. Well unless ur at a sushi restaurant then there is no oil smoke...

再配上腰豆配忌廉做個小沙律,已經勁豐富架啦,佢重有一大塊中東既烤餅,又可以配豬肉又可以配蛋黃去食,真係滿足到落腳趾尾!

一場黎到,當然都要試埋佢好出名既奄列啦!奄列既材料勁多,大致上係有蘆筍丶青椒丶蕃薯同大量既蛋,個蛋餅At least都有成3cm以上厚,勁飽滿勁充實。
係蛋餅上面既有三件Bacon,首先講一講舊Bacon先,真係超腍超軟熟。其實似係比較硬身少少既東坡肉咁!切開黎可以見到肉係一絲絲,而且肉入面充滿肉汁,加上少許的脂肪,係勁吸引囉救命!

而係Bacon上面分別係Madras candied(食落有少少中東醬料味,味偏重)丶Sunny side-up Quail egg(半熟既煎鵪鶉蛋)同埋Green mango pickle(食落有少少似甜甜既蔥咁),三個配搭出黎分別反映到香濃醬汁丶蛋黃香同埋清新蔬菜既口感,幾特別。
老老實實,呢個蛋餅既飽肚感比起Bs Fry Up更加滿足,都係$100蚊唔洗,又好食又抵食真係痴線架!

I made a reservation for dinner yesterday. The person on the phone confirmed the booking. Now, a few hours before our dinner booking, I got a call from the receptionist saying they will have to cancel my booking! I asked how this mix up happened and her explanation was that the person taking the reservation doesn't actually have all the information! So I wonder why the person who doesn't have all the information is allowed to take bookings.
