晚飯吃辣,十分刺激,下場去吃雪糕,降一降火City Super旁的菓匠茶屋,甜菓子和糯米慈一向做得不錯,賣得出了名。現在還有雪糕供應,以北海道牛奶作賣點,有原味($23)和抹茶($26)兩種口味/或可兩溝(但忘了價錢hehe),可另加紅豆($3)和抹茶啫喱($5)作toppings,是次我沒有加,只選了單口味的抹茶而已。抹茶軟雪糕:可選筒裝或杯裝,我揀了後者。雪糕質感很軟綿滑漏,入口即溶,奶味亦好香和突出,綠茶味不會太濃,味道好清新,跟牛奶中和得幾好!~我覺得整體都很接近小妹在日本吃到的抹茶雪糕,雖然價錢不便宜,但真的不錯!!!買完雪糕可到city super旁的小檯坐著吃or立食~

Its weird that no one has reviewed the Soft Serve Ice Cream in the 3 outlets yet, when it is just unbelievable in quality and out of this world good. HEAVEN! In reality, I don't think the CWB store carries this? I bought mine from the Shatin store. I honestly can't remember whether the TST store carries it either. MILK AND GREEN TEA SOFT SERVE:
Sounding a bit ordinary? How about... 北海道3.6牛奶 + 京都宇治綠茶 Soft Serve
- The Hokkaido milk part is more creamy than it has real milk taste to be honest, its more like buttermilk in a sense. Sometimes I find Hokkaido's milk or cheese taste a bit artificial, but its probably the best 'base' for making ice creams due to its taste profile.
- The 宇治綠茶 soft serve part was really strong in green tea taste, it actually had a long lasting finish that evolves as it melts, with a sophistication not observed with other local green tea ice creams.


Honestly, I haven't even devoured such top quality soft serves in Japan before, its so rich and tasteful here! Its also half-the-price of most other gelati or ice cream stores too! The other mochi or shiratama based foods are also great but that's been reviewed, no need to elaborate!

I love this shop's sweets so much that I can never resist when walking pass! When I saw that there's a new flavour around half a month ago, I didn't even have to think twice before making a purchase. The service was OK as I asked them about the new flavour. I confirmed the fact that they're made locally and not shipped over from Japan. Although people seem to have Japanophilia and automatically think the ones from Japan are better....I find that the HK ones are fresher, chewier, and moister. Eac

Although people seem to have Japanophilia and automatically think the ones from Japan are better....I find that the HK ones are fresher, chewier, and moister. Each to his or her own.
I also want to say that the staff at this Shatin branch are much friendlier than the ones at the TST branch...I've had a bad experience there but I'll leave this review's focus to the Shatin branch.

On to the actual product itself...I bought the
Sakura Mochi. it was packed in a plastic box which I assume kept it from being squished. Most other flavours are packed in simple plastic bags. I understood why as I opened the box...the texture of the mochi was kind of pliable and did not bounce back to its original shape when squished. In fact, I think this can be attributable to the lower moisture content of this sakura mochi. Also, this mochi was the kind made with little grains of rice rather than the one made with the glutinous rice powder (which is much sticker). This sakura mochi seems even a little dryer than their normal rice mochis. You can see the little grains of rice used to make it clearly, so the surface is bumpy rather than smooth. It was light pink in colour (I assume it's from the sakura petals?) and it was wrapped on the outside with a salted sakura leaf (I think). It smelled verrrrrrrryyyy fragrant.


The taste of the outer layer was more subtle than I expected. It had some floral notes, but most of the taste was from the salted leaf, which provided a nice contrast to the sweet mochi. It kind of tasted like shiso...in a more flowery way. You can also taste the grains used to make the mochi, so it tasted kind of like sweet glutinous rice. Inside, it was filled with lots and lots and lots of Japanese red beans...
I hate the Chinese kind of red bean paste (like the ones found in mooncakes and stuff...I think it has lard? It's completely smooth and really dense...ugh). City Super's products withhttp://www.openrice.com/Images/Forum_icons/tongue.gif Japanese red beans which you can actually CHEW never fail to satisfy me (their obanyakis and breads also have wonderful red beans). As you can see from my picture, it was packed with lots of plump red beans which tasted just sweet enough for this mochi (some people may find it too sweet I guess...but for me, I think it matches the rather light tasting outer layer). As I said, the outer layer was dryer than normal, but that dryness matched the clean taste. This dryness probably means that it can't be kept more than a day though..or else it'll become rock hard.

All in all, an enjoyable snack as with their other mochis. But I think I still prefer their other flavours like sesame and kinako! Oh by the way, they have a stamp card which allows you to get one mochi free after you collect 10 stamps. It's not that hard when their mochis are so addictive!

這兩個星期去了菓匠茶屋三次,分別幫襯了下列和菓子:竹葉糯米糰 ($9一件)串燒小丸子 ($28三串,每串四粒。單串買的話是$12一串)糯米糰大福 ($9一件)竹葉糯米糰有兩種,一種是香港本地造的,一種是日本直送的。我兩種皆試過,並覺得日本直送的味道較好。日本直送的有三種口味,分別是櫻花,粟子和紅豆。我買的是紅豆味的。打開竹葉,只見糯米糰的外型象顆花生,而糯米皮是綠色的。咬下去,發覺整個糰子頗結實的,糯米皮薄而紅豆餡多。糯米皮有艾草的味道,那淡淡的草香,頗特別。紅豆則不會過甜。整體來說,非常好吃。香港造的竹葉糯米糰有個嚴重問題,就是糯米皮造得不好,太黏了 (不知是否個別事件)。當我打開竹葉的時候,發現糯米皮會黏著竹葉 (而且是黏得相當死),而當我嘗試把糯米皮和竹葉分開的時候,由於用力過度 (但問題是,即使我用力過度那皮還是不願意離開竹葉),便把糯米皮和紅豆餡分開了。結果呢,是皮還皮食,餡還餡食 (因為整個糰子被撕破了)。而即使是這樣,到了最後還是有相當多的糯米皮黏在竹葉上分不開來,也吃不到。這真是相當浪費的。日本直送的是沒有這個問題的,輕輕一撕,糰子便出來了。此外,香港造的糯米糰沒有

串燒小丸子我買的是盒裝,一盒三串,有三種味道,分別是紅豆,黃豆粉和黑芝麻 (就是小丸子上分別沾上紅豆,黃豆粉和黑芝麻 )。本來對黃豆粉抱最大期望,因為我好喜歡吃黃豆粉的,但到最後卻發現紅豆是最好吃的。黃豆粉不夠香,是致命傷,相反,紅豆小小丸上沾了其它味道沒有的燒汁,而那澆汁相當特別的,有一股我不會形容的香味,和紅豆非常的夾。黑芝麻則普普通通。
糯米糰大福我試過兩種口味:黃豆粉的和紅豆的。黃豆粉的是糯米皮上沾上黃豆粉,餡是紅豆來的。紅豆味則是一個糯米糰子在中間,外面鋪上紅豆。同樣因為黃豆粉不夠香,所以變成紅豆的相對出色。不過這裡的紅豆真是做得相當好的。
我想我短期內也不會再幫襯這店了吧,因為真的吃得有點漏了。順道一提,有一次我是晚上十時多才去買的,店都要關門了,而店員說因為糯米糰大福必須即日售完,所以有買一個送一個的優惠呢。我問她說大福餅有這優惠嗎?她說大福餅可以留過夜的,所以便沒有買一送一了。

去親沙田都好想去佢對面食我至愛抺茶大判燒, 今次又有新野, 係抺茶蕃薯餡既, 不過我唔係咁愛蕃薯, 所以無試到.今次比京都濃茶做既啫喱同埋我最愛既白玉吸引左呀!!!! 細細杯都忍唔住要買一杯黎試喇! 分析下佢既份量先 : 用一個最細既牛X公司既雪糕杯裝住. 白玉得兩粒, 啫喱就大約十幾粒喇, 紅豆蓉就1湯匙喇.一試先知原來好掂呀!白玉真係好彈牙, 好Q, 拍得住日本既質素, 因為好多時自稱係白玉既都未必做到日本既彈牙質地, 再試埋抺茶啫喱, 又係好濃味呀, 掂呀掂呀. 雖然細細杯唔夠喉, 但係滿足晒我既味蕾呀!如果大杯D就好喇.....(睇返個個label, 得100g咋)但係就要企係度食囉....無位坐...

如果大杯D就好喇.....(睇返個個label, 得100g咋)

但係就要企係度食囉....無位坐...

This place churns out a lot of Japanese desert items. For instance, I have tried their red bean soup with 湯丸 (ok, maybe a bit too sweet in taste in my opinion, though I was told that this is the way it is done in Japan), and the 大福 dumplings (not bad, though not very special in my opinion). But I think their main draw should be the rice cake 竹葉糯米糰 ($9) which is not readily available elsewhere. Quite special and delicious, will probably come back again to try the other flavors before long.
