Kamitora Tonkatsu is a ramen restaurant located in Wanchai that is originated from Osaka. Previously, it was located in another area of Wanchai. I tried the previous location and it was ok. Ramen was good but nothing really drew me back to return. But now the y have a new location, a much larger space and renamed themselves Kamitora Tonkatsu instead f Kamitora Ramen.'The new location is a lot brighter. Ordering is by checking off from a piece of paper. This is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge.
There is a menu with photos of everything so you know what you are getting.
Boyfriend ordered the Black Oil Garlic Ramen ($93). It came with four pork meatballs and char siu. This didn't include an egg. The soup was ok though the black garlic oil was a bit too over powering.
I ordered the Kamitora Ramen ($98). This is also included pork meatbals and char siu. But it also had an egg. I ordered this same bowl when it was in the same location and I noticed prices have increased. The broth was pretty good. A rich pork bone broth. I liked the pork meatballs. Small yet firm. The char siu was much improved from the old shop. It was moist with the right amount of fat to meat.
The egg was not flavored but the yolk was very runny.
The noodles were chewy and smooth.
The ramen was good but not memorable. Everything was decent enough but nothing really stood out. The new shop is a lot cleaner and more spacious in seating. But food does come extremely slowly. For a ramen place, boyfriend and I waited a long long time for our bowl. Would probably come back if there was lack of anything else to eat. I think I wrote the same thing last time in the old shop.
