I haven’t written any reviews on restaurants for years, but the food here was just too bad that I feel the need to warn the others before trying.Anyway… came in for dinner last Friday night and the meal was horrible …Ordered the assorted diced sashimi rice (large), wagyu beef rice, soft shell crab roll, tamagoyaki and fried chicken cartridge (and a sparkling tea) for 2 people - I’m glad we didn’t order more, as none of the dishes were worth it. Anyway… came in for dinner last Friday night and the meal was horrible …
Ordered the assorted diced sashimi rice (large), wagyu beef rice, soft shell crab roll, tamagoyaki and fried chicken cartridge (and a sparkling tea) for 2 people - I’m glad we didn’t order more, as none of the dishes were worth it. I should say they were of poor quality, just like a random unauthentic Japanese restaurant that can’t justify charging over 100 per head.
Assorted diced sashimi rice (HKD 680), soft shell crab roll at the back
For a hefty 680 I wouldn’t expect this! As shown from the picture, there weren’t much sashimi pieces to begin with, and there were also TENDONS in such small pieces which probably shows how bad the quality of the fishes were. Many places offer like this for around 200 with much better quality…
Soft shell crab roll (120) at the back was normal - nothing special.
Tamagoyaki, Japanese omelette (130)
Almost tasteless, well cooked and the radish on the left was bitter…
I had a bite from the Wagyu beef rice (490) my boyfriend ordered, and all I can say is it’s just like HKD 50 worth of bowl of YOSHINOYA!! Paying 10 times more I would expect actual Wagyu beef as it’s stated on the menu, but nope - it tasted like ordinary US sliced beef with strong RANK ODOR. I was too frustrated to take any more pictures at this point.
Probably the best dish of the night lol it was alright; I like that they added red beans, but they’re a bit too sweet to the point of tasting artificial, unlike the usual red beans from Japan I’ve had from various places. Given the quality of the other dishes, I don’t think that they used the red beans from Japan.
Overall, the food quality was disastrous - for this price point and a restaurant located in Four Seasons, this is totally unacceptable. Perhaps their signature dishes are teppanyaki/ tempura but that’s no excuse. If simple dishes like the ones we ordered weren’t even properly prepared, then I doubt the others would be good.
The staffs were friendly, but that can’t change the fact that this was an unpleasant experience brought down by the food quality.
I didn’t even bother providing any feedback on the spot, knowing this place has actually been here for years (surprised how they could survive this long when there are soo many better Japanese restaurants around) so don’t think they will have any improvements.
