This is the second time I visited this restaurant in Shum Shui Po for dinner expecting fully that I would be tasting some of the finest traditional Cantonese dishes in Hong Kong and I wasn’t disappointed. We had the marinated pig’s knuckles for starter and it was delicious. The texture of the knuckles was just right, neither too soggy nor chewy, and were complemented perfectly by the mildly spiced sweet soy sauce. The steamed pork with salted fish was also a delight, which reminded me of what mum used to cook at home. By far the best dish on the night was the steamed eel in black bean sauce. The eel was so fresh that the flesh was truly al dente. The service was also commendable and the staff managed to make us feel at home and comfortable with their attentiveness and good sense of humour. This is a cosy and inexpensive little Taiwanese noodle bar hidden in a busy shopping mall near Po Lam MTR station.  I really enjoyed the interior design of the cafe, which I found very comfortable and homely (if you like to be surrounded by books).  We ordered the marinated cloud ears and pickled aubergine as starters and the cloud ears dish was an absolute delight, which offered a savoury and garlicky crunch. The pickled aubergine also tasted heavenly with the tartness of the vinegar dressing beautifully balanced by sweetness, which served well in waking up my palate ready for the delicious traditional Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Really glad to have discovered this place serving traditional and simple Hong Kong cafe style dishes but in a lovely and fairly up market setting. The food was great and the dining area offered a beautiful view of the city. Great traditional Chiu Chow cuisine served in a restaurant with a friendly atmosphere. The place is packed which only means one thing in a traditional Chinese restaurant in Hong Kong - the food is GOOD! A nice little restaurant tucked away in a big housing estate so it is not easy to locate. It offers a variety of Vietnamese cuisines at very reasonable prices. I went there for dinner one evening not long ago and what impressed me most was the service. The waitress was bubbly and chatty. She seemed to have cracked the secret code of how to make customers happy and could communicate effectively with diners. The food was very good too especially the rice rolls. If you are looking for an inexpensive and friendly place where you can have some decent grub, this is the place for you.…查看更多

Went to this restaurant for lunch with my work colleagues with high hopes but left totally unimpressed. The ambience of this restaurant is good and it is a popular place for the hungry office workers in the area. I ordered a brown rice risotto with braised oxtail and it didn’t disappoint except the chef was a little bit too generous with the salt. As part of a set lunch, the main came with a salad and bread. The salad arrived already drenched in oily dressing so one has no control over the amount of fat in it. The bread was good but it was served with a tasteless spread. Simple butter would have complemented the delicious bread roll very well and probably healthier than the tasteless spread provided which could be full of unhealthy trans-fat. The service was mediocre bordering on bad. They really have difficulties understanding what it meant by being courteous which is an essential attribute of a good server especially in a restaurant of this class. I have been a regular of this cafe style restaurant since moving to Hong Kong earlier this year. It does offer some very authentic dishes that are popular in the UK. It is always a busy place but the signature fish and chips are worth queuing for. The menu isn’t big hence the chefs have been able to focus on producing delicious dishes consistently. The service of my recent visit was exemplary. I went there with one of my new-found friends to celebrate her birthday and the staff there helped me to set up a little birthday celebration at the end of our meals. This is a little gem that I have recently discovered. Good inexpensive food and very friendly service. The restaurant is nicely decorated and offers comfortable seating. Awful experience and I will not come to this place again. The service was mediocre and the waiters and waitresses had problems in communicating with customers. It is very annoying when you speak to somebody and who could only manage to mumble. The food was not that impressive either. I ordered the signature burger and it was disappointing. The beef patty hasn’t got the texture of a Western beef burger, it’s salty and I couldn’t really taste the cheese. May be I could put this down as the difference between Western and Eastern palates and my expectation may be too high. However, it is unforgivable to serve customers soggy and cold French fries. The fries were just lukewarm when served and already turned cold before I could tuck into my burger. The fries were obviously heated in a microwave oven and not fried properly.
