餐前輪候、用餐服務、禮品送贈都是出奇的好。市場推廣專組應記一功。這是在荃灣50多家餐廳中,生日之星最後決定是當晚最好的選擇。吸引我們進去的是活鰻的季節推廣。非遺普寕豆辦醬活鰻煲,一上菜是熱騰騰、沙沙作響的煲仔菜,色香俱全。醉蛤碎口,醬調得很好。胎菊菜送油膩菜最合適不過。可是一說到味道,兩道菜都沒有令我有更想回頭的感覺。如果要我給個原因,應該是欠了海味最重要的原素:鮮沒叫水煮活鰻,可能是個最好的選擇。聲明:因為寫評會送甜點,所以在久違的地方寫一下。枇杷凍好吃!辣醬是餐廳24年推廣紀念贈品,未試過。…查看更多

週未晚來飯聚,咁好食既餐廳人咁少,有啲擔心下次無機會再來,係度推推先。套餐包湯,份量一餐夠兩個女生。電子下單,附加沙律比預期既份量多,用料新鮮又好吃。甜品不錯呀。叫左個雪糕加蛋糕熱香餅,不過怕雪糕會溶,今次無影相。職員服務態度唔錯架,讚👍下次靠大家再試唔同野再post上來分吓埋單每人$150左右,CP值高。最實惠既係有個好既場傾計。開放式空間有啲嘈,同格離台近左啲,如果唔多人,其實唔使坐得咁近。不過梳化台坐位有限,可能一般都比梳化台掛。…查看更多

下午茶放題一次試多款精點

數年前在名館內一邊欣賞銅鑼灣風景,一邊吃精緻新派點心,賞心樂事。最近留意到名館有下午茶點心放題,雀躍去訂位試試。$148 加一茶芥,差不多$180,以放題來說很超值。湯、特飲、煎炸、蒸點,每樣一份/一件上,每款都差不多可試一次,確實難忘。留意的是一次可以下單多樣,出的次序不能掌控。90分鐘其實也挺充裕。每次下單後,再隔10分鐘可再下單。相對來說,這樣的放題份量不太多,減少浪費,多一份雅致。跟之前用餐體驗不同的是現在用手機點單,方便清晰。可惜精緻茶具及點心,如今都破殘了。有一兩道菜如魚皮泡椒、炸奶酥還不錯。其他是價格同質素成了正比,不可能過於期盼了。…查看更多

恆常餐單係可以飽肚同試新嘢嘅,不過第一次去就當然想用個優惠價試吓用餐感受。Tasting Menu Sets 供應時間是3pm開始,避過中環午市人潮。價值亦比散叫的划算。點心出場層次:精選、煎炸、蒸、甜點沒有寫在Menu 上的蝦多士。不錯,但有點單薄,有口感但無咩蝦味同芝麻味。再來了海鮮批和蟹餅。由於太小,內容同樣單薄,就味道而言是可以一試,不會再想追吃那種。最後是甜品莎旗瑪令人失望:沒有蛋味又欠香脆。芝麻糕有點點香味卻太甜了點,質感也太鬆,不是我喜歡的感覺。桂花糕清香幽雅,跟這個用餐要打造的氛圍最近。可是仔細自,安保茶沒有所寫的味道突出,而藍白比對的China瓷器情懷細節亦缺場。那是一個可以靜靜用餐,又被迫準時才可下單,提早埋單的快餐服務。雖然大部份企堂都有禮,但呢個劇場式布局就係少咗說服力。以價比質來說及格了沒錯。…查看更多

See Siam 係咩東東?原來係酸湯麵,有3隻大蝦,算係咁多個午餐裡面唔係最貴既選擇,都幾好味。自動點餐好方便,慢慢搵都可以。接受八達通付款,暫未見其他支付方式選項。另外,班蘭蛋糕好出色,雖然樣唔花巧,但味道班蘭及牛油香充足。服務生都是社會弱勢社群,既有禮又用心。場內有小圖書角,又有Corporate video 介紹一下餐館理念。一直好想身體力行,消費式支持一下這所社企。有的想試想餐牌未有出現。還好,這種等待就是叫人再來嘛,而且有下次、下下次...…查看更多

好失望!!! 因為見大家食評可以,環境超有到台灣一遊的旅行感,就入店試試了。用手機自行下單,點了梅子地瓜及仙草愛玉奶茶。看來炸地瓜是即炸的,因為要等上10分鐘,但出來不單沒梅味,質感和味道都強差人意。埋單現金$57,服務一般。是甚麼推動我寫食評?就是避免下一位中伏! 假如只吃景,更要待人不多的時候。…查看更多

Years by years, restaurants open and close on the island, those survive till now shows a cruel fact: its menu price inflation rate higher than my salary increments. It’s become less easy to pick any restaurants available on the island. The previous reviews on Open Rice brought me to this restaurant, comparing menu choices, prices, and comments. Practically, it was the one less cramped with customers by the time we arrived (around 2pm) It could be a chilling experience dining outdoors, yet it was time weighted grey clouds reached their limit and heavy rain would come any next moment. We decided to dine indoors which was proved to be a wise decision to make. I would imagine myself enjoying a drink outdoors at weekdays embracing sea view with much fewer people in sight next time. Menus are all-day choices, from full breakfast with regular and veggie options, to burgers and even waffle as an alternative to toast and bagel. It costs less than $110 for each set, coming with a drink from tea, coffee to juice. The breakfast meal indeed covers everything needed: fruit, carbohydrates, protein. The menus taken here are set options placed at every table, drink menu was printed on top of the order counter. The bacon was pleasantly crispy, and the scrambled egg free from heavy salt. The waffle was surprisingly a salted one. The portion and the quality the food served formed a fine balance and combination hardly seen from other restaurants city at this price, with no additional service charges. It was a nice hideout place for the island visitors. Before another good restaurant can survive for another year, I am documenting my dining experience here and hope it will stay long enough for my visit in the future. …查看更多

The Treasure from the Blue afternoon tea was an artistic journey full of wonders for both my taste buds and eyes! Reservation to avoid disappointmentI tried reserving via Open Rice and the hotel webpage direct as my past experience told me some restaurants simply don’t respond to Open Rice reservation. I wouldn’t expect seats would run out at a weekend in the pandemic, but wouldn’t want to disappoint my partner joining the journey, thus making the reservation the night before. It turned out I was called back the same day morning I visited Abili and told my seat was secured. Another call half an hour later, I was told the booking was full and I was asked to pick an alternative date instead. And that the failure was in fact the reservation made much earlier via the hotel website. Now, you know the trick! I checked if the Open Rice coupon could be used, and the restaurant confirmed a discount would be given when I indicated to the staff on duty at site. Limited to 15 sets per day, a reservation could avoid dropping by in vain.The interior is nice. In the pandemic, it shall be on top choice for social distancing and even if not, spacing among tables allow nice privacy hardly find in other hotel restaurants in the city. Credit added is its thoughtfulness to place a bottle of hand cleaning gel at every table throughout the meal. As for the food, the pictures explain itself. Taste is a personal preference, but the visual is no trick! Personally, the savory were more pleasant and delicate.And such an occasional celebration treat to oneself. 好多中菜館都係油、辣、咸為主,令人卻步。香口好食唔一定要重口味,咁先可以有常客回頭。唔係大排檔式,但有小菜館既多樣化,又有照顧家庭常光顧既特色:養生為主,食材味道行先,不為服務相機先食既外觀精品小菜,連裝潢都以實務做招徠,直接親切。如果來光顧,6人以上會較易試多幾款菜式。燉湯品選項吸引,真材實料,配搭得宜,份量無騙。因為點影都唔覺得好吸引,反而可能會影得唔好令人卻步,呢篇就唔上載相片啦。因為老人家自小講客家話,慶祝生日不時都會搵下香港有邊家客家菜可以解下佢既情意結。係咪正宗客家菜我就無資格評論。我哋都係在傳媒得知客家菜有咩特色。客家人本來係來自不同地方既移居民族,集散華南各地,各自習俗有差異,何況家中小菜?從前有幾多戶有錢人家可以買到肉食煮得一頓湯飯菜肉俱備既盛宴?先輩都係以重鹽重味備菜,以補充因勞動欠缺既鹽份,同時令食材可以保存更久。係今日著重健康飲食既現代化社會,何謂正宗大概再唔係重點吧!「客家」,有「客」同「家」兩種元素。香港無幾家酒樓打客家菜為本既菜式,集團為左經營用料不時呢度減d成本,果度加多啲味精,咪同屋村酒樓一樣,食到既係商業味既客家賣點情意結,食唔到既係家庭聚會既真摰。客:樓面同經理都笑容有恭,親切友善,唔係當你阻佢做下轉生意,要比多啲小費先肯做野既,待「客」至善,值得再多來聚餐。家:有個地方,可以舒舒服服同屋企人傾下計,令人有在「家」用飯的自在,又唔使為煮食煩惱,可以同家人享受共聚時光。咁呢度就正正發揮到「客」同「家」既精髓。雖然老人家身體唔太好,不過我地都叫左佢想食既菜:梅菜扣肉 - 經典客家菜式。上到出來我地都幾放心比老人家過口癮:唔油唔咸,梅菜調味恰好,微酸,質爽,因為已切碎,無咩牙老人家都食到。扣肉肥同肉比例均稱,汁入味又不搶肉鮮味,肉不太林有嚼頭,比起曾係酒店或高級餐廳食既小菜更出色。客家釀豆腐 - 豆腐質感堅挺,豆味重,同調味出色既釀肉配映成趣。不過,如果要同現祟山既客家菜館同一味菜分高下,就只能說各有各好。正如前述,煲燉湯皆足料,唔係以咪精補味敷衍客人了事,期待下次多試幾款。…查看更多

朋友熱推呢間,話所以野砲搭得非常好,搵左日去下執返個食TEA既少女心先。服務:- 店員都好友善好NICE, 係有位執台執得緊張D, 論盡D。點好法? - 有個登記係有上5個WAITING, 當時落雨我唔想周圍走,雖然店員提我可參觀下之後有位打比我,佢見我罰企左係度,有個RESERVED CALL BACK CANCEL 都讓左個位比我坐低,窩心   - 另外,我自攜既餐具唔記得拎返,店員係收拾時係好客氣咁提我: 你係咪要拎返佢先?  - 佢有防疫指引,紙巾都係自己處理,咁都好,保障大家無咁易受感染。- 有飲食時限既,不能久坐,不過店員提醒大家時係好友善,一D都唔趕客,讚! 環境: - 台呀、牆呀都有手繪作品,氣氛唔錯。- 如果要講要改善既地方,係天雨既LOGISTICS: 我由正門入上到PROOF 層,要DUP住雨去另一個WING既RECEPTION,RECEPTION 話有位時,又再次DUP住雨去返頭先果邊WING既室內。可能要PLAN下點RECEIVE 客人去用餐位,從善如流。- 防疫既話,位同位之間距離太近,如果無隔板,應該唔係首選。食物:- 伯爵茶pancake 好似好多人叫咁. 或者我本身好喜歡茶味香濃既野,好似唔覺有伯爵茶味,MOCHI 味無咩特別呼應到個茶味,VANILLA雪糕都唔多夾咁。原來我會MISS 葵涌廣場既EARL GREY PANCAKE 多D~- 桂花酒釀啡 個名好特別,唔夾會好伏,不過,佢真係又有桂花香,又有啡味,又有油釀香。幾好喎~  價架有點高,計加一。如果下次有機會試下其他菜式,可能會唔同感覺。 桂花啡…查看更多

疫情無得外遊,解思鄉情意結之選

疫情無長假都無得飛,係度同朋友小聚有種一解思日既慰藉。有得玩有得食有情景既日本餐廳真係唔錯,多謝朋友推介呢度較靜,又可以坐得耐,店員話傢俬係日本訂過來,有張木製櫈有D破,就因疫情未可以REPLACE。MENU 係 IPAD 度由店員SHOW 出來講解,尤其係期間限定。我地叫既野係一樣:蟹肉魚子DON (忘記左個名)。圖左上方係一樽湯,都係一個開心位,我地食到咁上下可以將食材浸下湯,荼漬DON 唔係得個GIMMICK, 成個DON 價格無平比顧客但好足料,包括個魚湯。另一驚奇位係個透明似JELLY既物體唔係甜品。係呢度賣個關子,都係自己去試下過隱D。總括來講,我自己就好感受到餐廳在整個食用體驗既用心,好值得寫篇稿支持下,下次有機會係想再約朋友去傾下計。其實我係好怕味精同咸令自己食完口渴既感覺,呢間都可以既,可能主要湯味道濃。…查看更多

難得午市唔使排隊

難得午市唔使排隊,仲要仍然開鋪,試埋個豚骨湯麵先。上次第三波疫情前晚市7點來都等左一陣,大約5分鐘左右,都唔算耐。第一次來係因為朋友推介。店鋪門面唔係好突出,經過都唔會特別覺得:咦,好似幾特別,不如入去試下果種。整所店舖不大,第一次來時覺得特別奇怪,點解係灣仔/銅鑼灣呢d咁多選擇既地區,菜單就只有兩款拉麵,仲以為自己睇錯:1. 蝦味噌拉2. 豚骨湯拉麵所以第一次來真係唔會考慮豚骨湯拉麵。話說以前試過豚骨湯拉麵,一直比我印象係太油太多味精,食個時好味,食完不時都口渴又後悔,比較覺得接受到既係一蘭,其次係豚王,其他朋友推介甚至網上多讚試過既都強差人意。我肯定自己唔係大眾味素同樂會會員,好未? 如果食慣杯麵既你可能覺得我唔識貨,下文唔岩睇都唔定。但係我唔想比貴杯麵幾倍價錢堂食味素喎,希望呢個要求唔算過份啦。一蘭可能視豚肉為珍品,加一塊比豚王還要乾同唔滑既豚肉,貴到我明白自己唔唔夠努力賺錢,不過係死窮鬼一名,肉痛又覺得唔值。不過佢個湯同麵係講究到無得輸,事實證明原來只得一味(加埋佢市場營銷策略)都可以再令人再返去支持(當然環境氣氛名聲都係因素)。豚王义燒選貨好寞一蘭好,湯較油但濃味,糖心蛋又好食,價格比一蘭相宜。麵匠風龍呢間唔起眼既拉麵店竟然做到同一蘭超水準別樹一幟既湯底,拉麵質感軟硬適中,豚骨湯完全唔油膩,奶白平順,平時唔會主動飲湯底既我都忍唔住飲左更多。不過麵底太大份,我估一般女士會好似我咁食唔晒。麵既木耳係鋪蓋成個20cm左右直徑既碗面,第一次見到咁震撼既蔬菜感,尤其一般香港拉麵店對蔬菜特別吝嗇。係台上仲有一樽任添既辣銀芽,鐘意食辣既人加入麵食好野味,應該唔會好似我咁傻仔齋PAK.. 都幾辣架~ 睇得出小店就住佢本來應有既TOPPING FUNCTION調味,誤以為係SIDE DISH既我只可以執返咋沙咁講:呢個係美麗既誤會。利申:第一次食完個蝦味噌麵,覺得麵同小龍蝦蟹子沙律好清新,喜歡食蝦真係個絕配組合,所以搜索下資料再去一次,咁先知原來店舖受歡迎都有同政治有關既故事。好多時拉麵店都好重口味,好咸,我真心唔識欣賞又唔好拉麵。不過食左麵匠風龍真係開始發覺原來拉麵可以好食架喎,所以再去試下一蘭同其他近來多人讚既店。試完咁多間都係覺得蝦味噌麵做招牌定位好,係其他地方無法重覆到佢各樣優勢:蝦米多,蝦同味噌天作之合,唔係個別味好搶,而係夾得好到無話說,對黑洞朋友來講份量大係喜訊,無日式精品料理貴夾唔飽既毛病。最重要係個麵做得好好。我本來對小龍蝦亦特別有偏見(健康理由),不過真係好食,肉質爽同香又夠凍呢,就推介比同伴。餃子今次比上次煎得好食,溫度好,又不油膩,涵調味同肉菜比例剛好。同店主吹個水,發現佢好謙虛,唔想以政治色彩定位使招來,只係想做番麵店本來要做到佢應有既質素。店主佢係特登去日本拜師,係香港獨自計劃好營運流程。對於疫情搞外賣拉麵,佢明白唔可以留住有要求既客,因為外賣完返去個麵溫度,浸湯時間完全控制唔到,會直接影響客人對麵食既感受。疫情政策來得又快又急,佢又唔會一成不變,正默默研究對策。每個細節位都見到店長好關懷顧客:呢兩個星期政府落左二人限聚,見每兩個位都有一枝搓手液。一開始坐低就比個信封我地放口罩,提提我地座位後牆身有排架可以掛袋。無大機構既財力,實而不華既裝潢同菜單,營銷策略好似摸索既startup感,對顧客親切,用口碑留住人心。咁反而好似係日本食過地道樸實又異常愜意既拉麵店,比人一個稍歇充電的空間,再去上路的温暖小店。惟一希望個菜單印刷清晰D,我怕自己老花睇唔清。…查看更多

The cheesy tuna toast was appealing both in price and its appearance. At $22, I could get a drink on top of single purchase of the toast at $18.  The hot tea with lemons were served exactly what the words were meant to be, not "lemon tea"!  A stainless steel tea pot with cyleon tea was prepared, and lemon slices served on a cup separately. On any summer days, it would symbolize a leisure afternoon past-time.  There was no rush for drinking the tea up or spoiling the tea with bitter taste of dried lemon slices, the tea prepared was just right and unusually pleasant for me. Yet it was the tuna toast itself that did not live up to my expectation. Specialized in bakery, I would expect it could have been much more crisy, cheesy with a right balance of the ingredient. It turned out to be something soft and re-heated which completely lost its charm after all! The spaghetti fairly passed. You couldn't expect much to order a dish of spaghetti in a place like this, could you! That was just sauce pouring on chewy boiled spaghetti with hardly any special treat at all. Except it being chewy, which might suit certain customers particularly fond of it, I could not give any credit on this dish.Service was like they didn't really care to serve you. And dining outdoors, I shall have expected sitting with smoking neighbours who spoke so loudly that they didn't care others hearing their conservation in Putonghua.  So, next time, the wise act would be choose any bakery of my favour, grab, pay and go. …查看更多

上次採遊西貢已經想試一試這所打著日式格調的咖啡店,加上見OPENRICE的好評較多,便下定決心去試試。這裡的咖啡店體驗跟其他咖啡店的確不一樣,最令我不習慣的要數店內標示咖啡價格的地方不多,只有一塊黑板寫上幾款價錢,就如藍山咖啡已標$70左右。店裹的菜單是自製相簿,內面都是有趣的小猫告示貼紙,介紹一下店長推介的咖啡食品。其實可供選擇的食品不多,但看上去都是精美的製作,除了日式咖喱飯及親子飯照片看上去較平平無奇。點了多士配店長自家製的藍莓果醬($30,如配咖啡平日只需$20)。除了藍莓,可供選擇的還有紅莓醬。店主特意推介其特色是少用糖,所以質感較稀。塗上多士的時候的確較易鋪蓋平面,挺方面。而沒有太甜膩的感覺也很討人喜歡,只是我還是特愛果肉充盛的果醬,所以沒有那個吃下去太觸動人的感覺。說最先叫我振奮的竟然是我平日不大多吃的法色牛角包($48),裡面夾煎蛋及煙肉。因為用上了日本蛋,而且又是即點即製,很感受到店長的認真和用心。輪到說說此店主打:手調咖啡。店長先問問我的喜好:喜歡香味重一點,回甘味重一點,還是淡雅一點的類型。接著給我嗅一下他挑的兩款既香又甘的深度焢焙咖啡豆,待我選好了後,就開始用汰蘭絨濾布沖調咖啡。見他澆溫水的方法是每寸水一圈一圈地沿網邊沖,完成這個程序的細心及謹慎就好比完成一個壯嚴的儀式。咖啡因為是店主針對自己口味的選擇去製作,味道特別愜意。但如果下次要再品嚐同一款咖啡,聽店長說可能要待三、四個星期之久。因為他每天準備的咖啡都不一樣,而單是甘味品種的咖啡便要看貨源供給是否穩定、季節是否適宜、店主當天想準備的咖啡類型三大因數。要回味,真是要靠運氣。不過,這樣的互動也蠻不錯,令店子充滿期待和驚喜。跟店長聊聊,才知道他獨個兒遊歷日本,在當地不同鄉郊地方跟喜愛咖啡之士學會了一些咖啡烹調技藝,回港後也想有自己一個空間跟遊訪西貢的朋友分享自己的喜好。與藝術家店長共度了一段時光,聽聽他走訪日本幾個故事,真好像去了外國一樣。在西貢近年愈來愈多咖啡店的現象看來,這家咖啡店有其與別不同的個性。連鎖咖啡店的招來主要是飲品化妝的創意及認受性,其實可以細嚐咖啡本身的獨特個性選擇甚少。如果對咖啡本身有要求,相信此店是個不錯的選擇。只是結賑時發現消費承惠每位$94,要常回去光顧,經濟上支持店長實在有點吃力。…查看更多

Better dishes than dumplings

Can you believe it? I tried its dumplings several times and feel it could be too common to add anything worth serving here, but what it drives me to jot some remarks here is its dishes, especially the cold served ones! It shall have its name changed upright if it means to survive the competitons along the Main Street East. Mr Chua Lam (蔡瀾)'s comments on the dumplings serves as a promotion effect on the main entrance. The restauarnt has opened for business here since about 1.5 years ago.  I can't recall if I see any lines and days it is fully occupied, but I can tell the date it was new to the district it was much crowded than today. Is there anything wrong with it or people just have their passion on the new stuffs passed? I went there to check it out for dinner a week before.  Reading a person like a book is more challenging than reading a restaurant. From the menu, a lament can tell the restaurant may have received considerable capital from an investment source. Nicely taken pictures featuring its dishes, dumplings and noodles, illustrated with Chinese aside the English translation.  It is no scope of a local restaurant of family-operated one could do, espcially with a satisfactory level of translation. For others as you might have experienced, the menu could be nothing more than a joke, and a laugthers for the diners! Look at the stunning red menu below! Even if you can't speak Cantonese, point to the picture and say you want one of that, the staff member shall be fine with it. The restaurant would have its ground floor occupied first, and would ask you to walk upstairs to the first floor if G/F is about to full. And dishes are delivered from the G/F to the 1/F. As you can see, unit price for a dish (excluding the sauced egg), is around $30 something only, and the most expensive dish found on the menu is $47. No service charge is included and it is a real bargain if you want to have a try on different variety of dishes. I would say, at cost of such, I will save any housewives from preparing dishes themselves and bothering the cleaning up afterwards. And that is the great spotlight for this restaurant. Indeed, couples and singled men in mid-age attribute to a greater population of the composition of customer types. Before I share the pictures I took last time, there are dishes of high recommendation on my list:1. cool potato shreds (涼拌土豆絲, $22)2. deep-fried beancurd leaf roll resembling "goose" flavour for veggies (香煎素鵝, $30)For #1, it was the time that I had to redefine my common understanding of texture and taste of potatoes. It resembled the one I had in Northeast China a decade ago, though the dish here could be more rich in flavour, the potato shreds were much fresher and solid, and cool to the properly set temperature. I guess it would be exceptionally mouth-watering in summer days. And in winter time, it didn't lose its value of coolness as the starter dish. With company of cucumber slides, the dish reaches a good balance of saltiness and sweetness in a crunchily fresh manner. As for #2, it reiteriates the restaurant trait's "freshness" of dishes. The beancurd leaf roll has been just deep-fried in a perfect timely to be served, with its sauced craspy layout wrapped with rich flavours of mushrooms, carrots, fungus and bamboo shoots.  The hot and juicy roll best goes with a hint of vinegar as its seasoning, to minimize the grease remains on its skin, and enhance one's appetite for more. So last time I went there, I could not remember it served dishes with such an ironic combination of spoon and bowl in size like this. I would assume the bowl could be larger, if the spoon was there to allow holding firm any dumplings served with soup. I couldn't help laughing the clumsiness of its "surreal" combination! The size of dishes are not large, but just right in portion. Spicy beef tendon, served cold with carrots and redish (涼拌辣牛筋, $37) It is also placed on my recommendation list. The spice had no second overwhelmed the original taste of the tendon, with its cool body come in harmony with the hot flavour, while the chewy tendon prepared in sweet and spicy sauce were well backed up with the pickled cucumber and redish slices. Altogether, they enriched each other's flavour and left a great sense of fulfilment and appetizing as a starter. It didn't fill much of one's stomach for the main course like noodles or rice.  Eggplants with Peiking sauce (5pcs) (京醬茄子, $22) What is a Peiking sauce like? I suppose different restaurant would interpret in its own way, while this one would prepare it in a sweet flavour with hints of soy bean sauce. The cool ground garlice topped the dish and enrich its texture and layers of senses. The eggplants were bathed deep in the well-prepared sauce. Served in cold, it was never too greasy and it remained the skin of the eggplant in its glamorously purple like gems. No tracks of overcooking could be found in there. Sesame butter cool noodles (芝麻醬冷麪, $32)Comparing to its dishes, the texture of the noodles here could be disappointing. Noodles here were too soft and readily broken, as if they had been prepared ages ago.  The sauce itself was not bad . The cold noodles, heavily coated with the rich and thick seasame butter sauce, was not too hard to have it swallowed, but it was like a plain sheet of stuff that lacked glamour! "Dam-dam" noodles, i.e. noodles with spicy peanut sauce (擔擔麪, $36) So, we understood the restrictions of its noodles and did not expect much when we put our chocksticks down into it. The sauce was spicy, rich in peanut flavours and could be a "branded" one. What was wrong with the noodles then? I don't mind paying more for noodles with better quality as already, there have been three similiar cuisines serving Shanghaiese style along the street. I could have paid less to another store for noodles pretty readily if it doesn't work on its weaknesses. As for the dumplings, the skin was a bit thick and the filling was pretty rich, but not oustandinlgy prepared. The ingredients were too plain and common to be its signature dish, yet the donny dumplings could be nice, rich in juicy meaty taste but the fillings lacked the juicy freshness in them! Worth a try, for its dishes and humbly set prices! …查看更多
