If you want a memorable meal, JUNON is definitely the restaurant that will not disappoint you. Everything from the service, the decorations, the settings, to the food, you name it, are very well prepared. The only thing that was not so satisfying from the lunch which I just had was perhaps the starter. I had a salmon tartare and 🥔 potato churrros, the salmon 🐟 tartare was a bit too salty for me. However, other than that the rest of the meal was perfectly well made, I am not able to criticise anything else other than the salty salmon.Interestingly, I find that the restroom is one of the highlight of the restaurant, lol. This is a petit Taiwanese restaurant off from Leighton Road, right across the corner of Via Tokyo dessert shop.The seating is a little tight as the restaurant is a little small. The quality of the food is fair. I have tried the 清湯牛肉麵. My friend tried the authentic fat and flat spicy Taiwanese beef noodles, and it looks pretty delicious to me. It comes along with a drink from our meals and they taste not bad at all. However, I feel a little thirsty even with the served drinks after the meal. This is one of the best authentic Taiwanese food I have been to recently. The seating is decent and specious. The restaurant is clean. The price is fair for the quality and amount of food in return. The taste of the food tends to be rich, and I enjoy it from time to time. The quality of the staffs are great and polite. The wait time for the preparation of food is fair. OMG this is a little devil, indeed! Seeing that the line up is much shorter than it used to, my colleagues and I have decided to give a try on this bubble tea place after lunch today, and it is called 幸福堂. In English, it means a place with happiness. 🤗With only one person in line, unhesitatingly we have decided to give it a go. Within five minutes of waiting time, we have received our orders. Looking back at it, five minutes was really nothing, but the heat, the environment and the crowdedness of the street, where this bubble tea place is located, this five minutes was, in fact, something like hell. 👹I have tried their famous milk tea with black sugar bubbles. With high expectations, I am, however, very disappointed with the drink. The bubbles were very soft and not chewy at all. The milk tea was thick with lots of milk, and the taste was overly sweet. There are numerous options for bubbles teas in Causeway Bay nowadays.  There are so many choices that it  gives a headache to determine which one is better than the rest of the pack.  Today, I have tried a new one, which was recently opened, and it is called 珍煮丹 on Lee Garden Road.  This bubble tea is well known in Taiwan for quite some time, and this is their very first shop in Hong Kong.I got there at around noon, before all the office workers started lining up for it.  However, I still had to wait for 30 minutes under the scorching hot sun before I could make my order at the cashier.  Unhesitatingly, I ordered their famous Black Suger Milk tea off from the menu, just like any other people who were lining up behind me.  Unlike many other bubble tea places, they have the choice of choosing the sweetness of their black sugar bubble tea.  I was going to order a less sweetness black sugar bubble tea with minimal ice.  With the recommendations of the cashier, however, I ended up with the regular sweetness version.  The cashier explained that the type of sugar that they use is not as sweet as it was, and with the feedback from other customers, he highly suggested the regular sweetness, instead.  In somewhat five minutes after ordering, the bubble tea was well prepared and ready to go.I took a sip of the bubble tea when I got to Hysan foodcourt for lunch.  I would say the taste of this Black Sugar Bubble Tea was wonderful.  The black sugar bubbles were chewy and the taste was great.  The milk tea was sweeter than the ones I normally have, but I would say I could accept it.…Read More

Pho Metro is a restaurant that I have been to three times lately, and each time I visited I have tried something new. To be honestly, they have not disappointed from all my visits.On the very first time I visited, I tried, perhaps the signature dish of all Vietnamese Pho restaurant, a “Pho,” which has rice noodle, medium rare slices of beefs and some herbs. Their rice noodles are thin and smooth like silk. Their soup base is tasty. The end of the sprouts are removed.  The portion of the bowl of beef noodle is just right. The best thing is that I do not feel any MSG was added into the soup.  Well, perhaps, there was a little, but surely I do not feel thirsty afterward. :)A vermicelli with grilled chicken steak was my order from the menu on my second visit. This one is fabulous, indeed! The chicken steak was well grilled. It was very tasty and well prepared. The juice from the chicken steak and the soup base, which is added into the bowl of vermicelli, have lightened the dullness of the plain vermicelli. They have added some slices of cucumber, sprouts and red carrots into the bowl to enrich the taste as well. I highly recommend this dish Last but not least, I have tried a bowl of meat balls Pho on my latest visit. The meat balls are small and cut in halves. On this wintry Sunday morning, a sudden spur of excitement motivated us to revisit Shake Shack for the second time. While we were on our way to the restaurant, we were making back up plans if the line up was too long.  Surprisingly, they have newly integrated a special line up called the "C-Line."  It is an express line for ordering beverages, such as, beer and milkshakes.  In addition, this line also serves as a special line for any ladies who are pregnant.  As my wife is pregnant, we get to order right away.  Anyhow, based on my observations today.  the ordering line is much shorter than before.  The line up did not go all the way to the patio.Today I have tried another milkshake from their menu.  It is their Hong Kong Special, “Milktea Milkshake.”  It taste great, but I find it a bit too sweet.  The burger I had today is, once again, the Smoke Burger, while my wife had the regular Shack Burger.  However, they do not taste as good as the ones I had on the very first time.  The burger was oily. On this rainy Thursday afternoon, I have visited 華嫂冰室.   It is a bit earlier than lunch hours, so the line up is basically zero.It is not my first time trying out the restaurant.  So far I have never tried any other food from the menu than their 米線 with their 蕃茄 soup base because their tomato soup base has always been so tasty and fresh.    The soup base is so rich with the taste of tomato but not to the point where the soup is thick and gluey.  Although the tomato soup costs eight dollars more but I think it is well worth the price.  It's a must try (at least one time).  I have ordered my favourite chicken wings along with a cup of cold milk tea.  They called this as their "specialty chicken wings."  This is actually rich and well prepared soya sauce chicken wings.    I have tried their fried pork and deep fried chicken before, and they taste just as good.At the end of the meal, I have even shared a "fresh margarine toast" as well.  This is absolutely evil, but anything evil will always taste wonderful.  I have seen people ordering their well known "store favourite pineapple bun," which I believe it has a thick slice of tomato, an egg and butter filled inside a pineapple bun.  I haven't tried it yet, as I cannot imagine how the  taste will turn out to be.  Perhaps one day when I am able to find someone who is willing to share the pineapple bun with me, then I could share my feelings about it afterward.  …Read More

TGIF! It's another rainy day in Hong Kong, however, it does not stop our appetite for a treat after lunch.My colleague and I have chosen to try Milksha, which is just beside Hysan Place in Causeway Bay.  The line up for this shop is not as long as we thought it would be.  Perhaps, the temptation for milktea has softened, I guess? There were about 7-8 customers who were ahead of us when we got there.  As we were new to this place, we had asked the cashier to give us an advice on which drinks are their best from the menu.  She had nicely given us the notion that "Earl grey milk tea latte (fresh milk)" and "Cheese Oolong tea."My colleagues both have tried the Earl grey milk tea latte (fresh milk).  They both liked it a lot.  They said the drinks were rich in milk, which they both liked a lot.  So they were much satisfied on their orders.I, myself, have tired the "Cheese Oolong tea." It has rich oolong tea on the bottom of the cup with creamy white cheese on the top of the drink.  The amount of cheese they put in the cup seems to be much more than the ones I see from other soft drinks restaurants.  When the strong Oolong tea mixed with the rich cream cheese on top, the taste is surprisingly good.  The cashier nicely told us that this drink should not be drank with a straw, and she was definitely right about it, because the two has to mix at the same time to create such amazing chemistry.  However, at the end, I have tried mix all the cheese remained in the cup with the oolong tea from the bottom.  The taste was odd and totally a thumps down.  So bear in mind not to stir the drink at all and have a napkin ready, as it's kind of clumsy when drinking this "Cheese Oolong Tea," be prepared to have cheese on the upper lips.  …Read More

Bubble milk tea and fruits drinks are popping up everywhere nowadays, but do they taste good actually?  This really depends on which restaurants you have bump into, and, no doubt, your habit and your preference.  I am a sugar lover and anything sweet will catch my attention.  Luckily, I have a few colleagues who are just as into trying out new bubble tea places as I do.Usually most of the soft drink restaurants would remark the level of sugar and the amount of ice for each order.  Just like most of the soft drink restaurants out there, 丸作食茶 from Haven Street will do just the same.  However, what is worth noting is that the bubbles in their bubble teas are freshly well made from black sugar.  Common ingredient in Asian cooking and baking, black sugar (Kurozato) is a type of unrefined sugar comes from the island of Okinawa.  It has many health benefits not found in white and brown/red sugar.The milk tea I had was great.  The bubbles were chewy.  The sweetness from my order was perfectly fine.  I really enjoyed it.I would definitely say that this restaurant is worth trying.In a single purchase order, when the total is over a hundred, they allow customers to enter a lucky draw from their self made pinball machine.  And today, I am lucky enough to receive a free of charge on those bubbles for my future order.…Read More

Today I am invited to the grand opening of this newly opened coffee shop. The shop is bright, clean and spacious. There aren’t much much decorations in the shop, however, after listening to the owner's idea of his coffee shop, I am truly motivated. The shop is simply designed with several tables and two long bleachers on the corner of the shop. There are movable cushions available, so customers can basically sit anywhere they want. There are three projectors in the shop; therefore, it is perfect for organisations to reserve the place to make presentations. The owner of the coffee shop are well educated and full of passion. The reason why he has decided to open this shop is to fulfil one of the ideas from his professors on educating the futures. The place will hold discussions on different topics everyday starting at 7pm. I believe the topics will be mainly related to, but not limited on, AI design and futuristic topics on education. I would definitely recommend any young adults, who are feeling lost and need a hand to find their passion from their career, to make a visit during their discussion period. No one is born to be perfect, no one is the smartest among all, there are only those who are willing to learn and keep an open mind to be one step ahead of others. Just like what Steve Jobs said “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” The owner is definitely doing something new from the rest of the coffee shops out there. They are trying to promote discussions and ideas sharing to improve those who are passionate about themselves.I had a cup of hot latte during my visit. The taste was great the texture was smooth. It’s another beautiful sunny Saturday morning, my wife and I went to meet up with her good old childhood friend from kindergarten. Yes, it’s a classmate from kindergarten, amazing huh! What’s even more amazing is the breakfast we had at NOC Coffee Co.As it was about lunch time when we arrived, we ordered a drink and a meal for each person. The drinks came quickly after we placed our orders; but the food took a really long time. We had all-day breakfast with baby asparagus, baby tomatoes, mushroom, potatoes, beacons and scramble eggs. Other than that I have ordered a risotto. The food was nothing special to be honest. The drinks we ordered, however, were surprisingly interesting. We had a great latte. The smell was so good and the taste was smooth as silk. Chai Tea Latte is amazingly good as well.  It has no caffeine in it, and it taste wonderful. Last but not least is their Peach Ice Tea. With the taste of peach, the ice tea was interestingly good and refreshing. Especially with weather at around 30 degrees Celsius, something like this cool is much appreciated. 🥤I would definitely recommend this place for friends who needs a place to have a seat, and have a little catch up. The design and decoration of this place are wonderful. There are tall chairs and benches and two persons seats to choose from. The air conditioning is strong. The waiters and waitresses are polite. TGIF!! When the rain is falling like cats and dogs, the best place to look for lunches must be within malls and within the reach of MTR stations would be even more ideal.  南小館, situated a level above the food court of Hysan Center is the one my colleagues and I ended up visiting today.Once seated in this finely decorated restaurant, the waiter will provide a small plate of appetitizers with peanuts and seasoned vegetables.  This seasoned vegetables are a little sour and spicy.  They are meant to excite your appetite.  However, if your are not a fan of this appetitizer, you could friendly ask the waiter to take it away from the table, and he will deduct the cost on this off from your bill.Today, we have tried 燒乳鴿 from the restaurant, which is advertised and discounted from their menu, currently  .  Other than that we have shared a 四小拼 as a starter, 小籠包, 蔥油餅, 菜肉餛飩湯, and 肉絲炒年糕. The 燒乳鴿 was juicy and tasty.  Not only was it fulfilling, it reminded our childhood days. We realized we all loved 燒乳鴿 when were young.  One of my colleagues recalls trying 燒乳鴿 from pretty much all restaurants around town back in the days. She loved 燒乳鴿  so much that she made sure she completed her portion totally with nothing left behind. I can tell that she was so satisfied with the dish.小籠包 was my favourite dish among all. It was hot and full of its hot soup inside. It is best when served, so better not let this cool down once placed on the table.:)蔥油餅 was another dish that worth mentioning as well. On such a hot summer day, the best place to have a good rest after a long walk would definitely be taking a comfortable seat in the Starbucks Coffee shop at Alexander House, Central.After having several delicious freshly made croissants (please read from my previous post), my wife and I walked all the way from Wanchai to Central. Our tired legs started to ring the bell when we got to Alexander House. Without much hesitations, we have got into a huge Starbucks shop on the second floor of the building. Both of us have decided to try something we have never had before. I have chosen a Hojicha Frappuccino and my wife purchased an Ice Shaken Strawberry Green Tea Lemonade.On the very first sip of my Hojicha Frappuccino, it was fabulous. It cools my body down immediately. The taste of the hojicha was great. It was not as strong as their other signature frappuccinos, such as, Caramel, Java Chip and Double Chocolaty Chip. With a little whip cream on the top, it added a little sweetness, creamy flavour. When it got to the last sip, however, it was full of ice and water. Nonetheless, I would give this a 4.5/5 ratings.The Ice Shaken Strawberry Green Tea Lemonade, on the other hand, had a fruity sour taste. At the beginning, I could not tell if it was made of strawberry. After having a few more sip, I could slow tell strawberry was added in there. As it was made of lemonade, a little sour was a must. Surprise surprise. It is a beautiful Saturday morning, my wife and I have gone to this beautiful bakery in Wanchai, just a few minutes walk from the Wanchai MTR station. It is called the Bake House.We waited for somewhat 5-10 minutes inside the store to get seated. So we had some time to consider what to order at the counter beforehand.We ordered a total of 5 plates with two regular croissants, one chocolate croissant, ham and cheese croissant and a cruffin! All of them were great especially when they freshly came off the oven. After the first bite on the croissant, you will see layers and layers inside. The crust is crispy and the inside is hot and soft.The best overall from my first visit to this bakery is the regular croissant. I would definitely give his a 5/5 rating. The cruffin is extraordinary. It is best to have at last, as it is sweet and has a little sour with the mix of strawberry. But with the creamy vanilla inside, it is just perfect.Want a perfect start to your day, get yourself a croissant from the best in town. …Read More
