Nice Hideout in SoHo
Fridge
2012-01-02
booked this place for their all you can eat oyster package. got the balcony seats, so the gang can breathe at their own like.the night started with a bread basket and a parma ham / cheese platter. bread was good - very doughy and baked to perfection. the ham was above standard, yet their variety of cheese was awesome. good nibblies which we continued asking for after the whole meal. the sparkling was crisp, not too sweet yet not cold enough.oysters for the night include Gillardeaus, Scottish Rock, Fine De Claire, and one South African one i cant remember the name. all were freshly shucked, sizable and plum. was super generous with the serving, we stopped asking and they still came. their house white was from new zealand i think - good choice, a happy marriage with the oyster varieties.mains we ordered include a french spring chicken and aussy sirloin. all i remember was that the chicken was very tender... and that both mains were cooked very well. i remember seeing a petit girl doing the cooking, which quite amused me as i always thought that it would be a guy standing there getting soaked with sweat. respect. we brought our own red so didnt try their reds, but from previous visiting comments i reckon it would be enjoyable too. desserts... not much memory of it <since we were already pretty drunk> but i do recall exclamations of appreciation.overall, a very posh little place with excellent food and ambiance. good value for money too. service was warm n pleasant. not too sure whether they always do the indulgment package so better ask before you go.…

From Pleasant to Unpleasant
Davis
2011-09-11
Paid enough visits to make the captioned statement.I remember after the first visit, Pig n I left with happy faces. Still remember the beef fillet salad BACK THEN was superb - nice portions with intense flavors.Re-visit experiences were ok, yet as mentioned in some other reviews their service was never quite up to scratch. We never got the "royal treament", therefore we let it pass. Afterall a nice place with pleasant food and drinks, I seriously don't need too much of any servicing - just give us the dough and leave us alone. Yet the experience last night smashed my tolerance. Totally.I do not intend to waste too much time on fueling my anger, so I'll just summarize:-- The two Chinese waitresses continued their black-face stance to Chinese customers - and I observed that they are starting to do it to foreigners too- Conversation (during ordering) was stone cold - when you ask for clarification they show their annoyance on their faces - esp the lady-in-charge-look-alike waitress lurking behind- As read from other reviews people were lucky enough to get tap water. We ordered drinks and asked for glasses of warm water on side - the waitress turned down the request stating they serve ONLY bottled water- Ordered my favourite beef fillet salad, only to find that the portions have shrunk drastically- Flavors continued to be ok, yet while I was enjoying my food the waitress came to the table THREE TIMES asking whether we were finished - I mean, what's the rush GDI???- Don't even bother to ask for the balcony seats as they are "reserved" anyway - yet you would see walk-in foreigners taking them- Price - fair enough, considering the ambienceNo to mention no check backs, no greetings, the pro-foreigner stance... I guess we can call ourselves lucky without needing to take the shxts from the chef.A nice place COMPLETELY RUINED because of poor service. Basically I recommend a NO for anyone considering the restaurant - unless you are ready to maintain an even blacker face than the people there. Otherwise, the several drink places next to it would just do fine. …

Comfy and Cozy
Pane Vino
2011-05-25
a long while since i last wrote something, and the first place that came to mind is pane vino. been here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch.now it has already been several months since my last visit, i don't quite remember all the dishes i had - and if i went thru them one by one, i am obviously lying. so let's just do the highlights.what i remember is their pasta - both times i did a bit of pasta. for dinner we had the "chef's hat" shaped pasta in seafood - it was actually a recommendation from another diner, we walked by and he just grabbed us out of nowhere and told us to try. turns out, texture was cooked to perfection, and the sauce oozed in the flavors just right. tasted nothing like it before, nor i could find the particular type of pasta being sold anywhere.for lunch... i remember there was a chicken breast fettucine, and a seafood linguine. texture for both, again, was superb. the chicken breast... you know how it gets rough and all if not prepared well right? no problem here, the slab of meat was full juicy and tender (which was actually quite a surprise, as it totally exceeded my expectations)osso bucco... i think we had it for dinner. very punchy flavors, meat was braised long enough. remember to do the osso in the bucco, fabulous!!! the risotto that came with it was a good combination, tho i think it could be cooked sliiiiighty longer.yet i do wanna comment on their tomato-based sauces... be it creamy or not. i am uncertain whether the chef is trying to give a fresh and light feeling on the sauces, but both times there was sth tomato-based and i felt they were both not strong enough. perhaps it is a chef preference?and oh oh oh yes, the cheese!! the parmesan nibblies they set on the side during dinner... intense flavors, funny texture... i think they made these themselves. so so so addictive, i could sit and much these all day long...service was not bad, therez this lady who patiently did the wine list with us and came to our table for check-backs.talking bout wines... they are quite strict about byobs... luckily their wine list is ok. price-wise... they do charge you a fat chunk of money alright... but hey, being able to eat heartedly, i wouldnt mind paying a bit of premium.but i think they have coupon offers and this buy1get1 special on monday (not sure if they still have it)... now if you can grasp these opportunities, dig in!!…

Out of the Ordinary
Magnolia
2011-05-21
so, my birthday celebrations begin. the bunch kindly celebrates with me every year, and i keep them entertained by finding a nice n special space to sit everyone in. this year it is magnolia.now if you read the other long article about mognolia, it is mentioned that there is nice living room kinda thingy and you are facing a kitchen area. when i first got there, i thought the dinner was an event where we also had to do the cooking. lol.luckily we got the couch and the lot was happily enjoying their appetizers with the wines and champagnes we brought. no cover on byobs, bravo!!! (the 12 of us drank 10 sth bottles i think. imagine if they charged us for each bottle...)as appetizers, they served little crab claws, some cheese thingy in spoons and crostini with this cheese dip thing:the claws were slightly too tiny and they clung onto the shell quite tight. nth too remarkable. but the cheese dip thingy was nice!!! esp with the anchovies/pesto like paste at the very bottom of the chunky... i can eat this stuff all day long....now everyone sat in the "living room" until eight sth, and they brought us upstairs to our dining rooms. long tables in private rooms. not exactly cozy, but you do get the privacy. additional point for the very sufficient air-con - usually these rooms would be extremely stuffy.so the food comes... not sure if they serve similar stuff everytime, but i'll show some of the things we had which were worth mentioning.somewhat like a very thick minestrone, less on the sourness and more on exotic flavors and herbs. when this was served, we sat for a while wondering whether this is a dip for sth or a soup... pretty intense flavor, nice! There was also this salad with soft shell crab. a tad too salty.now this is DOPE!!! i dont care how much butter they used in making this but i tell you i will continue downing these no matter how full i am. scent, flavor, texture, nothing to complain. ribs. think magnolia is famous for this? they are nice, being cooked to the point where the meat is also falling off (as mentioned in other reviews) and the choice of ingredients they use to marinate is remarkable too... yet, given the nature of cooking ribs, i find this an "easy" dish despite the nice flavors. not sth you'd die for when it can be prepared at home.the meal ends with a nice slab of pecan pie (apart from my birthday cake). when you fork into it, you might feel weird coz the texture seem really soft and you'd think this might have been sitting around for quite some time. but itz all good. there is not alot of pecan pies around town where you can benchmark this one against, but one the whole it is fulfilling.service-wise is ok, just that they have to walk up and down whenever you summons someone. don't expect lightning speed service. price-wise... call it value and efforts for money?on the whole, a nice night, a nice gathering, a happy group, all well-fed and plump. thanks to all who joined the dinner, special thanks to you who makes a cake every year, special special thanks to you who stopped by hk and made it to my celebration, and super special thanks to my beloved who organized the dinner.…

Was wandering around C-Bay thinking of what to have for dinner... Tenz suggested we go try out Ding Tai Feng. Yup, we had a nice meal in their TP shop, let's see if they are any good after coming to Hong Kong.Ordered some simple dishes. Let's go through them one by one.Flavors are ok, marinated into the core of the veggies. Obviously pre-made, but why can't they get it a bit hotter? Had an order of normal ones and the ones with crab. Now I must say, I had high hopes for this. In the TP Shop, on a nice day they made this absolutely fabulous - thin skin, juicy, full scent, hot - that's why I was slightly disappointed with the HK shop. It was hot, it was juicy, but the scent just don't stand out. Other than being slightly sweeter (from the crab meat inside), I find no great difference between the crab one and the normal one. Yet they charge you more!!Also, the "head" of the xiao long bao (where they twist the dough together) is quite chunky - another point gone. Not even that little local shop down the road makes such a mistake. Hmph. The skin is thin alright - but the content is too blended. I would have expected sth more chewy. But the flavors are ok - esp the soy sauce.Hardly anything to say about the pork chop...Overall speaking, the food is quite standard - of course, good standard that is. Yet I cannot feel they have put any heart into making the food tastes better. It is all just under the roof of "Ding Tai Feng" and people seem happy enough. Maybe there are other reasons that are hindering them? Sorry but I am just a diner, I would be too shallow to understand any of that...At this price... I still opt for 金滿庭. At least you get the occasional "Wow" factor. Here?"Yeah, nth spesh." …

Dmon comparing to Golden Moon...You need to know things happen for a reason. There's no need to make it seem like other ppl are all foolish by the fame but u are very 'clever" to know the "truth"...You say "HEART", HELLO?!! This is Ding Tai Fung, not one of those local famous shanghai cuisine restaurant with long history. Live with the fact.

Striderb I believe each review on Openrice is a very personalized experience and therefore people do write their own feelings down. This comprehensive collection is what makes Openrice successful. In terms of flavors... I personally think this is not determined by whether a restaurant is famous or not. I also believe that all diners would be clever enough to make their own choice.Anyway, many thanks for your comments!

On this fine sunday Tenz n I were mo-liu-ing at home... and we suddenly craved for buffet. Logged on to Openrice and searched around... hm, this place nearby looks pretty good (from all the previous comments and photos)!! Nil problem for booking too, plus a 25% off deal... let's do it!Now I daresay my appetite is edging on comparable with COCKROACHES... I practically eat anything. My lenience towards tastes and flavors is also very high, I seldom detest food... plus, it IS a hotel buffet we are going to right, how bad can it get?We arrived around 1930... there was a F-load of kids running around... fine, family day, ok la... The environment and ambiance were pretty nice too. The service members were helpful and friendly. Scanning the food tables, wow, looks just like what people posted on Openrice!! And we were getting pretty hungry too, so off we went to feast ourselves. And thatz where it all headed DOWN-HILL. Way down. Now as you are reading my review, please kindly scroll down to look at photos of previous entries. And, please do a little re-cap of what I have written so far. All looks pretty good eh?Yeah, you got that right. It is all just LOOKS.I have taken this photo for better illustration. The fish and the hairy crab were on the house - each person gets to choose one. Looks pretty good right? But the thing is, when I put the fish into my mouth, the texture was softer than the fish you can find from a fillet o' fish. There was nil flavor. The crab... looks like there were plenty of roe, but once you suck on it, it was tasteless. Now when I say tasteless, it doesn't mean they have forgotten to add salt or marinate the food. It literally means there was no flavor. When I pulled a piece of meat from the crayfish shell and ate it, it was soaked with water, and not a single pint of lobster or crayfish or shellfish or WHATEVER taste - I was simply chewing on a slab of 'thing'. the funny thing is, they were able to do that to all the food. You can imagine how I felt when I was eating their smoked salmon - the texture was like smoked salmon, but there was just a small bit of salmon flavor, not to mention any saltiness or anything else. Same works for their shashimi.I tried to think that it was my palate gone wrong. I tried the whole night. But when I started doing their desserts - I could not lie to myself anymore. Their desserts tasted quite good (esp they got strawberry yogurt)!!! So all night long I wasn't dreaming or anything, their hot fishes and seafood were really like what I have described!!So you see why I feel like being cheated? Everything looked right, but the flavors were all wrong. ARGH. Hope the management can deal with this... or else, it doesn't matter what discounts you put up. People would rather pay a bit more to eat better.Have never given a crying face in Openrice. Never expected LIS to be my first. <Sigh>…

2010-09-17
Been here a gazillion times for lunch, tea, dinner, whatever. Never had to wait - their mode of operation is just soooo efficient. Yes I know the place looks dodgey but all I care about is the FOOD. Needless for me to say how good it is - just look at the number of compliments and you'll get the picture.Favorite order is Suckling Pig Rice with BBQ Goose, plus 10 bucks of BBQ Pork on side. Portions are generous - maybe because they have been caught before? If you don't order the Suckling Pig the dish is only 22 bucks. With that adds another 20, so really depends if you think it is worth it. Strictly a personal preference to include that for better indulgment, hehehehehe~~~The Char Siu is the best you can get at this price. Siu Ngor is generally above standard, but at times not hot enough. The Suckling Pig is the chunky meaty type instead of just strips of skin, but quality would depend on that day's sales - the skin might become less crunchy if they have been sitting around for some time.In the most recent visit, I was given a whole slab of Goose from the leg part, and the Suckling Pig was performing well too - Yay~~The soul of the dish is the all-you-can-add sauce on the table. Mix it with the "Geung Yung" - Delish!!!Paying around 50 bucks for a plate of Chinese BBQ rice (drink included), I'd rather come here than going to Tai Hing or that "BBQ at Work" in C-Bay. Save the glam decor n ad work - those wont help making your dishes taste better. …

Now let's talk a bit about biology. Late at night, your body slows down and your taste buds also need a bit of wakening. That's why if you have 消夜 the food is usually deep fried or intensely flavored. And if you have too much of this kinda food, you feel thirsty n clogged up, n thatz where the beer kicks in. This pretty much wraps the 消夜 experience this time. This place we went to was pretty dodgy. Pretty well lit, but quite some filth outside the door. Luckily the interiors were ok. And it is understandable for a 大排檔 place. The photos pretty much shows everything we ordered (except the dozen of Blue Girl ) Food standard was above average. Some points worth mentioning:-- Chicken Feet, Ju Hung and Pork's Knuckle were delish. Marinated really good, esp the Chicken Feet. I led the whole way...- Oyster Congee - 鮮!!! Add a bit of pepper w/ the coriander flavor, NICE~- I wanted to like the Oyster Cake... but there werent enough flavors and the cake was not done thorough enough...The other stuff was typical 打冷 stuff, great for nibbling with beer... But the most important thing is, therez a bunch of guys laughing together... that gave the major boost...…

What a Dilemma - Unhealthy but Tasty!!!
2010-09-17
The key to tasty deep fried street food is: crunchy, hot, and intense flavors. I wouldn't say they are any close to Taiwan-style, but they do make some darn good chicken as fast food. The company coach picks us up at the Yuen Long station. Thatz how I found this little shop sitting around and since then I have been a regular customer.Top recommendation is "BB Chicken", which in an order you get around 8 chunks of upper thigh meat, a pretty big portion even for a guy. Ask them to chop'em in half to serve would give you a sizable mouthful indulgement. You get to choose the spiciness of your order too, and together they add in some pepper salt as marination. As mentioned, it is hot, crunchy, and with intense flavors. Another good thing is although they fry it with the skin on, you wouldnt find the chunks particularly oily. And they also dont have the annoying fridge flavor which is commonly found in frosted food - extra points for that. Also tried the 17-bucks chicken breast and the 18-bucks full slab thigh thingy - not as good as the BB Chicken. The thigh feels way too greasy (though some might consider this juicy) and the breast is - well, it actually tastes good if you like white meat and is used to more toughness in your chewing.A special thing to mention is that you can choose to have your chicken freshly fried, instead of having the half-products - at a cost of 15 minutes more. Tried those, yeah they are nice, but not really alot better and they are definitely ALOT more 熱氣.Last thing, they have a loyalty system where you get stamps on every purchase and you can have free servings each time you get up to 12 stamps. Smart bastids with a way to lure people back. Argh.…

Harbour Grand Café
2010-09-16
自助餐癮起, 甘岩有腳, let's do it baby!!Tried this buffet for lunch some time ago, impression was not bad. 4xx pax was not exactly appealing, esp when the ones in Central are also around this price... but then they have coupons on Openrice, argh, what the hell.3 hours of valet parking with a purchase of 500 bucks at dinner. The hotel itself was nice, very decent view with a huge lobby. Went to take a peak at their ball room too, also quite amusing... Planning-weds can consider this place~~So the journey begins. Now fellow diners would agree with me that a dining experience is not only about the food, but also the atmosphere right? I can't help but say they kinda screwed it up here. Not totally their fault, but they did.The "cafe" itself is really spacious, situated beside a fancy pool and with a stunning scene of the harbour. A long line of food awaits you as you walk along to the table. Sounds pretty nice eh? But not exactly the case. The tables were like 70% empty. The line of tables with food... nice, but all the food pots' lids were closed (you have to open each lid to see what's inside if you don't read the labels) and there weren't enough lighting emphasis on the food. Drinks were self-served, but them bottles were lying around and it looked DODGY. You know what it reminds me of? Sitting at a cafe up in QM Hospital or in a college. Not glam at all.So, the food. First impression was very good actually. They have cuisines all sorts divided into different areas, and it seems they wanna make variety as their strength. Sadly, the method of presentation screws it up AGAIN. Closed lids make it all "hidden up", and it is not until you "dig" you can't find the food. My friend actually came up to me after his second round and said, "there ain't much to eat here." LOL.A brief round-up on flavors as follows:-Jap Corner - Good variety of Shashimi (unlimited Uni!!!) and quality was above line, with a guy standing cutting fresh portions. Nice~~ The sushi looked dodgy tho.Seafood - Impressive oysters!!!! Small in size but very tasty, They also have unlimited lobsters, crab legs, shellfish... above line in variety, standard in flavor. Refills pretty fast, thumbs up~Cold Cuts - Standard. Smoked salmon and parma ham stand out a bit, and they have this cold roast beef in pastry of some sort. This one is delish~~The Roast - Good! The beef they used ain't bad at all - And roasted pretty good too. Would have been better if the gravy was hotter.Vietnam Corner - Deep fried stuff mainly, with a tempura stand right next to it serving stale tempuras. LOL.Noodle Stand - 1 word tops it all - 冏Chinese BBQ - Nice char siu, below-line peking duck.Indian Corner - The curry lamb was ok actually. But with lighting, I wonder how many people recognize that little corner in the far end...Desserts - Unlimited Movenpick!!!! (2 thumbs up!!) Nice range of sweet soup, and they have a stand for fresh souffle, pancake and waffles. Average. Cakes look ok, but didn't try.Complimentary Shell Thing - 冏Service was good, fast dish-collecting and the chefs at the food tables were helpful. On the whole, I feel they have the heart to do it good, but they dont have the skillset. Major recommendations:- Change lighting theme - focus on the line of food!!- Open the lids and show your customers what you've prepared for them!!- Increase customer flow - the place feels sooo cold!!- Cut the dodgy soft drinks bottles, keep the mint sodas - get some class!!Remember we are paying 4xx pax - and with competitors like Island Shang or Conrad out there, it is very difficult to retain customers with this standard…

"OK OK!! Go to that counter to pay!!"
Auntie Anne's
2010-09-13
Still some time before dinner, 口痕.The first thing that caught my attention is the scent of sour cream n onion. Nice. Then therez this little platter at the booth with bits n pieces for you to try. Not bad either. Ordered the set with the Pretzel Dog, a Pretzel n a Lemonade. (40 sth dollars i think)Impression on the food was ok. They served the Dog with a dip thingy (we chose cheese flavor) which was pretty good - but the sausage was pretty 流, felt as if it has been sitting around for some time... would have made the Dog ALOT better if they improved that. We went for the sour cream n onion flavored pretzel, with the flavor powder spinkled on - gave me the impression that I was eating Pringles but the chips turned into some chewy bread Both items were served hot which added a few marks. The Lemonade - was this a specialty?? Excuse me, but somehow it tasted like flat lemon soda and it wasnt all that impressive. They also added quite a bit of ice, so the drink really didnt last long. Reminds me of what Mr. CHOW said in 食神...Overall comment is ok, worth a try. But 40 sth for this set, serving mainly carbs... I would say I have plenty of choices around C-Bay.A note on the staff - polite n efficient, yet they ought to lower their voice when they are asking customers to pay. I got my order n was standing around eating, and throughout that 10-15 minutes all I hear was "OK OK!! Go to that counter to pay!! It's FASTER..."Can't help but giggle...…

2010-09-09
Out of all itz chains, the Wan Chai shop is the one I visit the most. Go there mostly for gatherings with a whole gang. Cheap beer mate!!Overall comment after visiting 10+ times is - A good value for money place. If you don't wanna spend several hundred per person at places like 本色/英記, and you don't wanna go budget at all-you-can-eat places, go to 小肥牛 la.First things first, the soup-base. See the caption? That concludes like 80% of what I wanna say. They always tell which and which is special and you don't get to try it else where, e.g. Sad to say is, what sounds special is not exactly too special - the flavors just don't stand out - and I must say soup is not their strength. Rather, go for the more "homey" choices like 牛腩 or tomato soups. The ingredients are surprisingly fresh and I find them alot more enjoyable.Quality-wise, the beef is nothing as compared with places like 金牌. But hey, let's face it - 88 bucks for a plate of beef - what do you wanna expect right? So for the 手切牛, 合格有餘, good!Another reason I say so in the caption is based on that plate of angus beef that costs 10 bucks. Yeah it's pretty good, but what's the point when the slices are like paper thin? And seriously, I believe charging 10 bucks for a plate of paper isn't exactly appealing to the supporters of the restaurant, nor it has any attractiveness. I'd rather you charge me more for something decent.Rather, I strongly recommend the 花彫肥牛. The combination is quite special and the flavors are distinct n remarkable. Delish~~Other stuff are the common things you see for hot pots, with quality all above average and items like 鯊魚咀, 墨魚滑 n 炸腐皮 do stand out. The special "balls" like cheese-beef balls are quite nice too. And another remarkable thing is - they let you do your own sauces with a platter of 蒜 n 椒絲 etc. Yes it should be a must-have in higher-end hotpots but it is still pleasing to find it here.In conclusion, 小肥牛 is a strong player and a good choice amongst the mid-range hotpot chains, with itz quality and variety of food choice constantly above standard. I do look forward to seeing the chain removing "redundant" items (like the 10-bucks beef -_-) Save these costs and focus more on enhancing the quality of the soup-base and beef. Much more appealing.…

New Decor, Nice Food
2010-09-07
A re-current customer who loves their late-night all-you-can-eat hotpot. After their recent renovation, been there twice for hot pot. New decor changed the style of the place from a 茶樓 to an actual 酒家. Thumbs up!Never been to for their yum cha or tea, so I'll just focus on the hotpot. Now the thing is, whenever you go to these all-you-can-eat hotpots, they always give you an extra low price and make it seem 好抵... Screw that. Even if you don't order anything extra, you will still needa pay extra for the 湯底,n be charged for tea n sauces n whatsoever. Anyway, for this place, altho they claim to charge you only 78 per head, the actual cost is around 110-130 - which is still ok.Now one of the main selling-points is that they have all-you-can-DRINK - which makes the place a great choice if you've just finished a ball game at night with a bunch of friends, and everybody is starving and extremely thirsty. Even on regular occasions, for a guy like me, I down at least 3-4 cans of beverage thru-out the whole hotpot - so coming here would be a big saver for heavy drinkers. In terms of food, 2 thumbs up for freshness and variety. They even have 炸魚皮 in their all-you-can-eat list, which was a pleasant surprise as alot of places sell that on side. Also, their meat balls, esp 貢丸, is very good - and also comes in wide variety too. Anyway, you would definitely get back more than then amount you paid. But one thing - some of their managers are quite poorly mannered. On one incident we were just asking for some extra sauces, and this guy barked back telling us we have to PAY. Alrite alrite, pay mai pay lor, you don't have to bark you know.…

Impressive Salad Bar n Desserts
THE STEAK HOUSE winebar + grill
2010-09-06
Post entry of a Birthday Celebration.Visited with Aunt, Uncle n Pig. Thanks to Pig (who knew the sommelier) we didn't have to pay no cockage, or else it is like 500 per bottle. Hot Damn!!Internal atmosphere was good. Appropriate lighting, quite spacious, and customers were pretty well groomed and mannered. You wouldn't see a f-load of chattering Mainlanders which would ruin the night. Quite a favorable place for anniversaries n dates. The only thing is that even if you wanna sit by the window, you only get a small portion of the harbour view. Nothing as compared with Morton's open view.Yet in terms of food quality, The Steakhouse beats Mortons. To start off with, that salad bar is IMPRESSIVE!!! Wide range of choice, all fresh and high quality. With no photos to support, I'll give an analogy here - if you consider the buffet salad bar in Island Shangri La is "smart casual", then the one here is "chic and well-groomed". No wonder they charge 300 per head on it if people don't order mains. You can literally eat your heartz fill without going for the steaks. Then of course, as a meat lover, why would I even consider not getting a steak dish? I ordered the Canadian prime rib, Uncle ordered the lobster tails and Aunt n Pig teamed up to tackle the fillet mignon for 2. As you may imagine, these were eventually shared amongst us all so that everyone gets a taste of everything.I wanna mention that the place, before serving the mains, placed like 8-10 variety of salts on the table. Yeah you heard me, SALTS!!! From different places around the world, this would be from some mountains n that would be made with whatsoever. Each type does have their unique flavors and this is all very fascinating. But with your steaks all salted already for roasting, why the heck would I wanna add any of this to my mains? fun factor 1, actual use 0.So, the meat. I was never a fillet mignon lover, so all I can say about that fillet for 2 is "a tender, juicy slab of beef". Nice, but not touching. And somehow they over-seasoned the surface before roasting it, so another few marks off. The lobster was good actually - I would word it "easy-going" - as compared with the beef. But as I remember, it costs around 600 bucks for like 4-5 strips of lobster tails (notice I call them strips so you can imagine the size) so it all comes down to whether you wanna spend that on some macho or some easy-going.As for my choice, delish~ Canadian prime rib has always been a personal favorite, not as heavy as the US Angus n not as casual as the Aussy Wagyu. The grill was perfect - medium rare ordered as it is, satisfying both visually and on the palate. Together with the bottles of 2000 Echezeaux, life suddenly became peaceful for a moment as we slid the meat n wine down our throats. Now adding to the buffet salad (which I engulfed like 4 plates -_-) we were all pretty well-fed, but it doesnt hurt to have a sweet delight with the tea n coffee right>? So we ordered a melting choco cake n an apple crumble to share. Thatz when everything went downhill. In a good way though.Whyz that? Coz turns out those "delights" were HUGE!!!Literally, both were each bigger than the slab of 30-sth ounce of steak I had. Now this stuff ain't bad either - so there was more indulging done with little resistance. Had to take away half of each in the end. I felt like a lump of concrete as I waited for my car at the valet. Nonetheless, the devilish grin didn't go away until a long long time later.Overall, very satifying and filling. I would give it a 8.5/10. …
