Cute Japanese style brunch cafe
稍息
2023-09-24
Relieve cafe is such a cute spot for a brunch with friends! The menu is Japanese focused, with great lunch set deals that include a main, rice, and lots of sides. The interiors were really cozy and had Japanese tatami seating available too! Be sure to go early to snag a spot and remember to wear socks. Would highly recommend getting the pistachio latte and basque cheesecake to go alongside the brunch! The pistachio latte has a really strong pistachio flavour, which I thought was super unique! The texture of the basque cheesecake was perfect as well, with just the right amount of creaminess and also not too sweet ☺️…查看更多

Cute cafe for a solid brunch!
Latter Cafe
2023-08-17
Latter cafe is a great spot in wanchai to catch up with friend over brunch! I enjoyed the portobello truffle scrambled eggs bagel, the portion is huge and the eggs were cooked well! We also chose the vegetarian all day breakfast which had a great variety of breakfast foods 😌 And of course, you can’t come here without ordering their signature Earl grey chocolate latte with the cutest meringue bear! The drink itself was really nice and had a strong Earl grey and chocolate flavour (up to you whether you want to eat the bear! 😝) The pistachio basque cheese was the perfect texture yet still held itself up! …查看更多

one of the best pizzas in the city!
Dough Bros Pizza & Doughnuts (皇后大道東)
2022-01-25
If you're looking for amazing pizza takeaway/delivery options, look no further than doughbros's handmade sourdough pizza! We ordered 2 pizzas and 2 desserts to takeaway and eat around the corner picnic style. The pizzas we chose were The Sophisticated $148 and The Truffle $168. The Sophisticated had tomato, mozzarella, goats cheese, caramelised onion and peppers. Really enjoyed the flavours in this one, and enjoyed it even more with their range of dips! My favourite sauce is definitely the garlic & herb and bbq dips, I normally don't eat crust on pizza but the dips give me a reason to. As a truffle fiend, I also really liked The Truffle, and if you want more truffle flavour, you can choose a truffle dip to go with it too! Definitely quality pizza made with quality ingredients. We also got 2 doughnuts as dessert in the Lemon Pie and Custard flavours (prices: 1 for $38, 3 for $98, 6 for $178, 12 for $348). Their donuts are freshly made and fillings are filled to the brim! They were so so good and would highly recommend them. …查看更多

Favourite matcha place !
Matchali (奕居)
2022-01-25
Back at my favourite matcha place to try their newest Dirty Matcha $55 -- which features their signature matcha latte with a shot of cafe kitsune espresso! Personally think the coffee and matcha pair really well, if you have a sweet tooth then would also recommend adding a bit of sugar to the drink too.  We also got a Matcha Latte $50 too. Also really impressed by their dessert selection, especially the Yuzu Matcha Cheesecake $55 by La Vina. It was super creamy and full of matcha flavour, but didn't feel too heavy because of the yuzu! Would highly recommend. Sadly, they ran out of the banana bread when I went, it looked really good so I'd go back for it next time. We got a Cookie DPT Red Velvet Matcha Ganache Cookie $45 to share instead. …查看更多

Cute cafe option in Kwun Tong
Coti (鴻圖道)
2021-08-08
I don't often make it out to Kwun Tong, but thought I'd check out Coti for a light lunch. The place isn't too big but definitely cosy enough! They recently changed up their lunch menu too. Was happy that the lunch sets let you add on drinks for a lower price as well. Grilled Eel with Scrambled Eggs and Rice $88 & Iced Marshmallow Chocolate +$24 This was pretty yummy, probably my favourite item on the menu! The eggs were creamy and fluffy, the eel was really flavourful too. The amount of rice was perfect for the amount of toppings too. The iced chocolate definitely reminded me of my childhood memories drinking chocolate milk! Marshmallows and chocolate could never go wrong. Garden Quinoa Salad with Smoked Salmon $74 & Matcha Latte +$24The salad was nice and light, good if you're not too hungry. The matcha latte came with a cute coffee bean cake too! …查看更多

Breakfast done right 🤩
Acme
2021-01-09
I decided to start the last day of the year off with breakfast at Acme! I was super stoked to hear that the founder of Baked opened a new restaurant so I couldn't wait to try! I made a reservation online for Acme, which is great because you definitely can't do the same for Baked. The restaurant seating, although also featuring a bar table, had lots of dining tables available too. Golden Milk $65The staff recommended the Golden Milk to try, which is a turmeric drink made with oat milk, vanilla, ginger, rose water and honey. As a person who really likes ginger drinks, I loved this! I like that the turmeric taste wasn't too strong and that they used real vanilla beans (you can see the seeds!). 😍Arab Coffee $30 + Oat Milk $10 + Ice $5The ice coffee on the other hand was really subtle and didn't taste very strongly of coffee at all. I think that's because they used grounds instead of freshly ground beans. I couldn't really taste the cardamom either, which was supposed to be brewed with the coffee. Green Shakshuka $175I ordered the Green Shakshuka, which was cooked with spicy green tomatoes with squash and egg, served with sourdough bread. The sourdough from the Baked group needs no introduction, but I was really happy to be eating it here at Acme! The dish itself is quite spicy, but still quite flavourful! The egg was perfect, just set with a runny yolk. I'm not sure I like this version more than the regular tomato variation but I did enjoy this variation. Portobello Shawarma $162We also got this dish, which was served with their Sourdough Flatbread. The mushrooms were really yummy! It was marinated in spices and served with pickled onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, harissa and tahini sauce. It went with the soft and pillowy flatbread really nicely! However, I thought the price was a little steep for just bits of veggies (as pictured).   Overall, a lovely morning spent with delicious food at Acme! Can't wait to return for dinner once the dining restrictions get lifted, I would love to try the rest of their menu (especially the dips!). Congrats to the Baked group for opening another great restaurant! 💯…查看更多

A wonderful Christmas brunch 🥰
Harbourside Grill
2021-01-04
I chose Harbourside Grill to spend Christmas lunch this year! With all the dining restrictions in place, lunch was the best we could do. It was a great choice, the dining room is surrounded by windows so it was lovely to eat with so much natural lighting. For Christmas, they had a set lunch for $448 per person. There were 3 starters to share, a main course each and 2 desserts to share too. I love bread baskets! This one had 2 brioche and a baguette, served with butter. Nothing too special but complimentary bread always makes me happy! Scottish Smoked Salmon, Horseradish, Pickled Beetroot and Oscietra Caviar To start was this smoked salmon dish. The smoked salmon was filled with cream cheese and placed on top of the beetroots. Also accompanying was a soft boiled quail egg with caviar on top. The elements were pretty good, but because everything was so separated, it was hard to eat together (I'm not even sure it was supposed to be eaten together?). The quail egg was perfectly soft-boiled but I wish there was a bit more caviar on the plate because I couldn't really taste it. Smoked salmon is always such a strong flavour such that it often overpowers the more subtle flavours.Seared Foie Gras, Confit Duck Leg with Poached QuinceThe next starter to come was the foie gras and quince dish. The piece of foie gras was cooked perfectly and really yummy! I didn't have the duck leg but it was wrapped inside a pastry and fried, my bf enjoyed it but said it was a little dry. Quince isn't something I've ever had before but I felt like it went with the foie gras really well. Heritage Quinoa Salad,  Jerusalem Artichokes, Cranberries and SproutsThis is also my first time trying Jerusalem artichokes but I don't think I am a fan (it's a unique taste that I haven't gotten accustomed to). Overall the veggies and quinoa were quite nice, all cooked nicely. I think it could have a dressing to go with it as it ate a bit dry and was lacking an underlying flavour. Seared Seabass, Crushed Potato and Lobster BisqueThen came the mains, I got this seabass dish. I was quite surprised by how much I enjoyed this! The foamy bisque had a punchy lobster flavour and went really well with the potatoes (which is sitting under the fish). The fish was cooked quite nicely too and there was also a tiny piece of lobster tail on top (if only it was bigger!). Quiche with Spinach, Shallot Puree, Comte Cheese and Fennel with Black Olive SaladThe other main we got was the vegetarian quiche dish. Definitely quite far off the kinds of quiches I'm normally used to, but I really enjoyed how delicate this tart was. The tart shell was thin and crisp, and the medley of vegetables on top complimented the tart really nicely. Overall, really well constructed but I wish I could taste the Comte Cheese! I couldn't tell it was even in there to be honest, and I LOVE Comte. Apple Tarte Tatin, Caramel Sauce, Creme Fraiche This was probably the highlight of the meal -- dessert! As their signature dish, I had really high expectations for this and it absolutely didn't disappoint. It definitely tastes as good as it looks. The apples were perfectly tender but still holding together, the caramel wasn't too sweet and the tart pastry was really delicious (esp after it had absorbed all that caramel!). I would honestly just come back to eat the apple tart, but would just order a whole one for myself. 10/10 would recommend 💯💯💯Chocolate Delice, Hazelnut and ChestnutAgain, I had a problem with locating the ingredient listed on the menu, I really didn't know where the chestnut was. But nevertheless, this was also a super tasty dessert! I especially loved the salted caramel ice cream, which had a deep caramel flavour with just the right amount of salt. The chocolate delice was also really great, it was rich, creamy and really chocolatey, it was a hefty sized portion too!😍We also ordered 2 lattes to accompany the dessert and to round off the meal, it came with 2 pieces of fudge with smoked salt -- love! 💕Overall, a really great meal at Harbourside Grill. I liked that the dining room felt really open due to the windows (even though the blinds were down as it was quite sunny!). My personal take is that the desserts stole the show -- I am obsessed with that apple tart tatin, I can't wait to eat it again! The salted caramel ice cream on that chocolate delice was pretty unforgettable too. As for the savoury food, I think because I don't eat meat, I can't really enjoy the 'grill' element of this restaurant, so I can't make a fair judgement. This place is worth a try for a nice meal, but definitely don't skip dessert! 😌…查看更多

I’m a sucker for free flow 😉
Bedu
2020-12-26
Because of the dining restrictions, restaurants have been offering great deals for people to dine in from 2-6pm. Bedu was offering a free flow deal for people who get the Chef's Tasting Menu. Although still not cheap at $390 per person, the quality of food and drinks were definitely worth it! The drinks offered were red/white wine, prosecco and beer. I was glad that the house wines were actually really good -- you bet I drank my moneys worth 😏Smoky Hummus We had dips and bread to start the meal off, one of the dips was this hummus which was really yummy. It was smooth and creamy, definitely a must order when coming here. 🥰Red Pepper LabnehThe other dip on the menu was this Red Pepper Labneh (I believe it's yogurt), this was also really flavourful and went well with the bread. Homemade FlatbreadThis was probably the highlight of the starters! The bread was freshly made and loved that it was charred, it had a nice pocket in the middle too. It went perfectly with all the dips! Baked FetaI LOVED this! I'm a huge fan of feta on its own, but baked with honey brings it to a whole other level. The feta was creamy and goes really well with the warm sticky honey. It was delicious with the bread too💯Charred BroccoliThen came the mains -- I always appreciate it when vegetables get highlighted as the star of a dish. I liked that these were broccoli steaks (not cut into little bits like broccoli is normally served!) that were grilled. To accompany was crispy kale and a thick creamy herb sauce. Everything was super delicious, definitely a 11/10 dish!  Garlic Prawns These smelled amazing when they came to the table, they were pretty tasty too! The prawns were cooked perfectly and had a subtle garlic taste to it. My bf pretty much ate the whole thing! Dark Chocolate PuddingNot entirely sure why this was called a 'pudding', it was more of a cross between a warm cake but was also as dense as pudding. Either way, I wasn't a huge fan of the texture (but maybe that's just me with preconceptions of what it  was supposed to be!). I didn't think the mascarpone cream went too well with it either, was also pretty heavy for dessert. Overall, I had a really lovely meal at Bedu (and that's not just because it was free flow!). The food was as good as I had hoped and definitely met my expectations. My favourites are the hummus, baked feta and charred broccoli, they're all must-try dishes here. Although the food is a little pricey, it's definitely a great place for special occasions or to have dinner with friends. With the free-flow deal, it was definitely worth every penny, can't wait to try the other dishes on the menu next time! Note: the chefs original tasting menu included the lamb dish, but as we don't eat lamb, they swapped it for the prawn dish. A+ for accommodating dietary requirements!  …查看更多

underrated food!
kikusan
2020-12-05
I came to Kikusan on a Sunday night for dinner, I haven't been here in a while so their menu has changed a bit. Looks like they've taken all the raw fish items off menu -- perhaps that was a change that came with the pandemic? My bf was disappointed to see that the Kikusan Roll wasn't available anymore. They menu still has quite a large selection though, and I love that there are plenty of veg options!Shrimp Tempura & Sakura Shrimp Vegetable Fritter $98The tempura was pretty good and the shrimp was tasty! The vegetables in the fritter were a bit too thin so we couldn't really taste it and I thought there could be more shrimp for the price. Not bad though Vegetable Dumplings in Chilli Oil $52I was so happy to eat these because ever since I stopped eating meat, I couldn't find anywhere else that did this style of dumplings, I used to love them. These dumplings were quite big and filled with veggies, the mala chilli oil was great and quite spicy. I would definitely order these again, they really were great.Vegetable Soup Curry with Rice $72I ordered the vegetable curry with rice and I really liked it! I liked the different variety of vegetables (pumpkin, zucchini, lotus root, eggplant, bitter melon, okra) and they were all in big chunks too. The curry isn't the typical thick type you get, but I still liked it with the Japanese rice served with it. The soupier curry made the whole thing seem lighter. Black Truffle Steamed Chicken & Mixed Mushroom Rice $98My bf ordered this steamed chicken rice (he's a loves black truffle!). Presentation was our favourite part of this, the staff uncovered the freshly steamed dish in front of us, revealing the truffle scent. The rice was a bit bland at first, but was quickly fixed by a touch of soy sauce that was available directly on the table. Overall, it was a really nice meal, the food was great and the seating is quite comfortable. I'll keep this in my mind when I'm choosing nice places to eat around Causeway! …查看更多

梨花苑韓國料理
2020-11-21
I don't know a lot of Korean places around the island, but this place was recommended to me by a friend and has really solid Korean food. Not located in the main dining areas of Sheung Wan but close to the train so it's very easily accessible. Most people would likely go for the BBQ, but as I don't eat that, we settled for main dishes instead. The menu has a great selection, didn't take a photo of the rest of it but here was part of the carbs collection!BanchanThe banchan selection is decent, but not great. It's okay, the other food is pretty good. Seafood Noodle Soup 海鮮溫麵 $110I ordered this seafood noodle soup, I would usually prefer thicker noodles for soft noodles or else the noodles tend to get too soft. Aside from that, the soup was really flavourful, had a great clean seafood taste and seasoned with pepper. The quantity of seafood given was also quite generous, it also came with an egg. Overall, really yummy!Korean Black Bean Noodles/Jjajangmyeon 炸醬麵 $110A Korean food staple -- loved that we had the option to remove the pork from this dish (it usually is already mixed in together). This dish has always been one of  those things where you don't think its particularly tasty, but something about it is super satisfying and you just end up eating all of it. A really generous portion and tasted pretty good.To end the meal, they offered two drinks of our choice and some orange slices. I had the ginger tea, and my bf had the yuzu citron tea. A lovely end to the meal. Overall, as with most Korean places, the food comes in generous portions and the quality of food was great. Seems quite authentic and the dishes were great. Would return when I have Korean food cravings on the island!😊…查看更多

Bibi & Baba
2020-11-13
My friends and I were excited to check this new Malaysian restaurant out, having walked by and seen photos of the food online. I personally am a huge fan of Malay food so I was quite excited to try! We got there at 6 and there was already a line forming outside, they took a while to get people seated so by the time we were let inside (we were 5 pax), it was already 6:20pm. The menu has a pretty good selection of food, but definitely not vegetarian friendly. There were quite a few seafood options so we opted for those. We also really wanted to try the Kueh Pie Tee 小金杯 but when it was our turn to order, it was already sold out! They should really prepare more than 5 portions a night... 😅Vegetarian Fried Popiah 香炸素福建潤餅 $78To start, we ordered these veggie spring rolls. They weren't bad, but not too memorable, I can't recall what they were filled with. The side sauce went really well with the dish though! Otah 烏達 $88This is a fish mousse, wrapped and grilled in a banana leaf. It slightly resembles a fish cake, but softer in texture. It was pretty yum with just the right amount of flavour. If anything, it's quite flat so there wasn't much to go around but it was labeled as a small plate so don't expect a large portion. Prawn Sambal Petai 參巴臭豆蝦 $148The prawns were cooked really well, nice and tender and was coated in  a pretty yummy sambal sauce. The onions that were in the dish made a great accompaniment to rice as well. My only issue with the dish is that the sato beans were really bitter. I get that some foods can taste pretty good bitter, but I wasn't a fan of it in this dish. I thought it overpowered the main flavours of prawn and sambal as it was just that bitter. Also for the price, we could have been given a couple more pieces of prawn. Sotong Masak Hitam 墨汁墨魚 $168As small as this dish was given the price, it was pretty delicious! It was my personal favourite dish of the night. This dish features squid rings covered in a squid ink sauce. The squid was really tender and the sauce was nice and savoury. Definitely a must try even if it is a bit pricey (the portion is not that big)! Would definitely check a mirror after eating this, the squid ink really does get everywhere haha 😂 Vegetarian Nonya Chap Chye 娘惹雜菜(素)$78This was an assortment of vegetables stir-fried together, mainly cabbage, but I liked that it featured some not-so-common ingredients like wood ear and snow ear mushrooms, lotus seeds and mixed with glass noodles throughout. Not bad!We also got a couple bowls of Jasmine Rice $28 to share, as well as a Milo Dinosaur $88 drink (which was a bit too sweet, bit was a great throwback to our childhood). Overall, the food was alright, but what let the restaurant down was the hospitality. Once we placed our order, the staff let us know that as the plates aren't that big, we should order more food. We wanted to wait till the dishes came and then decide if we needed more, we already ordered rice to share too so we thought it would be okay for us. She came back twice more after the starters were served, insisting that we should order more, and especially telling us to get the fish dish (which FYI is the most expensive thing on the menu). I'm all for staff giving recommendations, but they really shouldn't be pushy, especially when we already declined, and it's not like she was very friendly whilst making this suggestion either. Also, as mentioned, we got seated at 6:20pm, and at 7:30pm, the staff approached us to tell us that our 90minute dining time was up and that we had to leave. I don't even think half the queue got seated before 6:15pm so that was a bit uncalled for and we had to ask them if we could stay until our actual dining time was up. Will think twice about dining here again. 🤦‍♀️…查看更多

小包包 (Fashion Walk)
2020-11-06
Little Bao is one of those spots that I will come to every now and then, the food is great and the space is nice too. We booked a table but didn't need to, the dining room wasn't that busy, so walk-ins are perfectly fine! We saw that they started doing a set dinner menu, which actually included a lot of food (starters, baos, dessert and drinks), but we wanted to try some of their newer menu items so we didn't opt for the set. We didn't end up getting any baos either but I'd recommend the Impossible Bao and the seasonal crab bao looked great too. Brussel Sprouts 炒小椰菜 $88Believe it or not, but these brussel sprouts are my favourite dish at little bao! The brussel sprouts are roasted, then coated in a fish sauce caramel with chili, peanuts and lime to top it off. The sweet and savoury fish sauce caramel honestly tastes really good and balances out the slight bitterness of the brussel sprouts. Even my bf, who is a brussel sprout hater, thinks this dish is good! Overall, super delicious and a must order dish for me💯Truffle Fries 黑松露薯條 $98This is another dish that we order almost every time, because quite frankly, we love fries. Topped with braised shiitake tempeh, truffle mayo and pickled daikon, this combo of fries & topping is really tasty! Great ratio of toppings to fries too. The truffle flavour is quite subtle, but goes quite well with the rest of the toppings. Definitely appreciate the fact that this isn't a boring plate of fries. Burrata Tomato 流心芝士番茄沙律 $158We were really excited to see this on the menu (we chose NOT to get the set menu because of this dish) as we are HUGE fans of cheese, and especially burrata. However, we were overall quite disappointed with this as a dish. I like that it came on a bed of cherry tomatoes, but I felt like the combination of the fresh sand ginger (沙薑) didn't quite work with the tomato, let alone the cheese. The chunks of ginger were quite big but quite bland, it definitely didn't have the punch of flavour that you'd expect from the sand ginger. I also felt that the cheese was missing a sprinkle of salt as the flavours it was served wasn't really have salty either. This dish is quite expensive as well, so was pretty disappointed that I didn't enjoy it☹️Mentaiko Butter Noodles 明太子牛油撈粗麵 $198We actually didn't expect this dish to be so big, so we were really pleasantly surprised! The noodles were coated in a mentaiko butter sauce, topped with a soft boiled egg, and served with a hoisin sauce and ginger/spring onions/lime. Once mixed together, the flavour combination is really yummy! The mentaiko really comes through, and the egg adds another layer of creaminess. I personally love the toppings as well, the lime is an especially great addition, it really ties the whole dish together! I'm not sure now long this dish will be on the menu, but would definitely try it if you have the chance! Aside from the burrata, you can expect all the dishes at little bao to be super yummy! Normally we would get a bao each, but I'm really glad we chose to try the noodles instead. Always great hospitality and good, innovative food options. If you have room, you should try the ice cream baos too. Although location-wise it's a bit challenging (on the edge of causeway), would highly recommend coming here for a great, causal meal. …查看更多

my causeway go-to restaurant
阿拉丁咖喱屋

My boyfriend and I are in Causeway Bay a lot, and we're well aware that we're spoilt for choice in Causeway. Yet, we still come back to Aladdin's Mess pretty often because it's always a solid and affordable choice for dinner. The menu isn't too small, great options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. I like that there's a pretty good selection of naan too. Nothing too expensive and all very reasonable prices. Cheese Naan 芝士烤餅 $24 / Garlic Naan 蒜蓉烤餅 $18The naan here is pretty good (probably why we come back so often) and this is the choice we normally get. The naan itself is quite soft and we love that it comes piping hot so you could tell it was freshly made. The cheese naan is filled with a generous amount of cheese, to the point where it oozes out when you rip it apart! The garlic naan has a really subtle flavour (to be honest, it could use more garlic and herbs), but still pairs really nicely with the curry. I like that they cut it into pieces for easy handling. Palak Paneer 香料芝士菠菜 $68I always judge how good an Indian restaurant is by their palak paneer. Although this one isn't blended into a green gravy/sauce like it is in other restaurants, this one here is still packed with flavour and is just the right amount of spiciness. The paneer cubes aren't that big so don't expect to get soft curds here, not too many cubes throughout the dish either. Fish Masala 乾汁咖喱魚 $75I usually like getting masalas because the tomato base keeps everything quite light, sometimes with richer curries, it becomes much too filling with bread. There was quite a nice number of fish pieces in this curry and the texture was quite soft. Also really flavourful and paired really nicely with the naan. Overall, Aladdin's Mess is a solid choice for an easy weeknight meal if you're in Causeway. It's friendly on the wallet and you won't be disappointed with the quality of food here. It's right opposite Times Square as well so it's at a great and convenient location. …查看更多

A restaurant week steal!
TMK Punk & Rolls
2020-10-27
I came with a friend for late lunch on a Sunday afternoon and made a reservation prior via Restaurant Week, for $148pp we thought it was not a bad deal! The variety that came in the lunch set was pretty big, it comes with 4 starters (to share), 2 hand rolls each and a dessert. The seating isn't the most comfortable, but definitely a pretty cool place to hang out with friends on a Friday/Sat night (supposed to be a sake bar after all!). Salmon TatakiAs I don't eat chicken, we asked if the Chicken Karage could be replaced with something else and the staff happily subbed it with a Salmon Tataki -- extra brownie points for this! The salmon was slightly torched on the outside, leaving the centre raw. Paired with a piece of pickled daikon on top and ponzu sauce, I overall quite enjoyed this! EdamameIt came freshly steamed with a sprinkle of flakey salt -- nothing too special about this, but edamame is a personal favourite food of mine so I was pretty happy to eat this. TMK Cabbage SaladExcuse the poor colour tuning (the lighting is pretty awful!). This cabbage salad was coated really thoroughly with a yuzu mayo. Although I couldn't really taste the yuzu in the mayo (it was pretty subtle), we were still quite surprised at how much we enjoyed this. Who knew shredded cabbage and carrots could be this yum! HamachiThe hamachi slices were topped with crunchy quinoa and finished off with a ponzu. The combo went pretty well, the ponzu counterbalanced the fishiness of the hamachi quite nicely. Tuna Hot Dog (+$20)Moving on to the handrolls! We decided to try everything on the set menu starting with the Tuna Hot Dog, which you had to add $20 for. The roll was deep fried and then filled with spicy tuna, served with a bit of mayo on the side. This was definitely my favourite dish of the day (the extra money was worth it!), I'd recommend trying this roll if you're at TMK. 😍My only comment is that the rice (and this applies to all the rolls) isn't really up to sushi rice standard, it was a bit too soft and wasn't seasoned that well.Hamachi Tomato HandrollThe hamachi pieces were lightly marinated, which I thought was quite nice. The handroll itself needed soy sauce to go with it, but we had to ask the staff for a sauce plate rather than have it already be there at the table (it's kind of a sushi bar after all?). What was really strange to me, was the piece of tomato in the sushi roll. As much as I'm all for fusion food, a slice of raw tomato really does not belong in a sushi roll, nor did it add anything special to the fish. A pass from me 😰Negi-toro HandrollThis handroll features tuna, scallions and mustard seeds. It wasn't bad, scallions go really well with tuna, was pretty good dipped in a bit of soy sauce. Tomato Tsukemono HandrollI think I've already expressed how I felt about tomatoes in a sushi roll, so I don't really need to repeat myself. But for a handroll that features tomato, I was pretty disappointed to see that it was, yet again, just a slice of raw tomato. Would've liked to see it at least be cured, marinated, grilled or just treated in someway. The egg pieces were a bit dry and so were the picked vegetables, which made the whole eating experience of this roll really dry in general. Even soy sauce didn't really improve the taste and texture😭MonakaFor dessert, the description said this was a marshmallow tartlet, filled with strawberry ice cream and pineapple. I liked that the pineapple was slightly grilled but was overall really disappointed that the ice cream came melted at the table (see picture), which made it extremely messy and difficult to eat. We weren't even given a fork or spoon so we had to use our hands, both pieces also came on the same plate so we had to share it and have the ice cream drip all over the place. Not really very considerate when putting this together/serving this. And because the ice cream came melted, it made the shell soft pretty quickly. Overall, I think TMK would be a great place to spend with friends on a Fri/Sat night, especially if you're into sake. The food has room for improvement but I'm still glad I got to try it as part of a restaurant week deal! 😊…查看更多

great food & cute seating!
RUAM
2020-10-10
I only came for lunch before so I was pretty eager to check out the dinner menu here. The outdoor seating area is just as nice outdoors as it was during the day! The menu had a pretty good selection and the drinks menu had these cute illustrations. Oh Yeahhh $88Thought this would be like a G&T, but it turned out to be a slushy which I've never really been a fan of. Drinks made like this usually are really watered down and don't have much flavour to it, which was the case here. Oh Nooo $98Looked super pretty when it came because it was this nice purple colour! Definitely just as strong as a martini, couldn't taste anything else besides alcohol though and had a slightly thick syrupy consistency.Fried Squid Tentacles 泰式炸魷魚鬚 $115I was surprised by how great this was! The squid was thick but tender and the coating was thin and light. Really enjoyed this with and without the sauce on the side. I'd recommend trying this 😍Stir-fried Morning Glory 泰式炒通菜 $88Probably something I'd get at every Thai restaurant. The ones here were really yum and a good portion too. A bit spicy, but definitely manageable for people who like spice. Coconut-based Prawn Curry 椰香咖喱蝦 $178The curry was pretty fragrant and packed in a lot of flavour. A lot of prawns too! I'd expect that for the price, but still thought that overall it was quite expensive. Still really yum though! Steamed Rice 飯 $30Roti Paracha 煎餅 $38We got rice and roti to eat with the curry and other dishes. I'd recommend getting roti if you order a curry, it soaks it up really well. Overall, a great place to spend an evening on a date or with friends. I'd highly recommend choosing the outdoor seating if the weather isn't too hot, its a lovely place to sit. I like that you could book a table at Ruam too, would recommend for some nice Thai food!…查看更多
