My husband and I had an early dinner on a weekday here. The restaurant was quiet and the service was attentive. The contemporary decor with exposed ceiling and large metal windows along the street side of the restaurant make the space warm and inviting. However, the food was disappointing given the price point. I had a white sangria, this was made with plum wine not the traditional white wine, refreshing but lacks the fruity aroma that one would expect from a sangria drink. My double grilled bur
My double grilled burger, I opted for no cheese, was dry and tasteless. There were two thin patties and no meat juice was oozing out, it just looked sad and overcooked. The best parts were the buns and the fries. The grilled jalapeños, for an extra $13, was great help to add some flavor to the burger.
My husband had the outlaw steak, a bone-in ribeye, utterly unimpressed with the quality of the meat, which by the way is claimed as “Canadian(s’) top choice natural beef” on the menu. The steak was somewhat soft, definitely not tender as you would expect from good quality beef.
At the end of the meal, there was so much fat trimmings from the steak that it filled up 1/3 of the plate. It was simply off-putting to see that on the dining table. Yes, a thin layer of crispy fat can be delicious, but it was just too much fat in all the wrong places!
