Not a big fan of Tsukemen, but have heard from my friends theres a very popular Tsukemen in Yuen Long, so we decided to give it a try.Guess I have underestimated its popularity, there was always a long long queue outside the restaurant and their ramen sold out really fast. Finally I got to try this Tsukemen in my 3rd attempt to Aya- arriving at 5:30pm, 30 minutes before the restaurant opened. Not surprised to see a couple of people already waiting outside even though we arrived quite early.
They changed their menu from time to time and for this time I picked Wheat Ramen with Shrimp Soup Base ($83)
Unlike the Tsukemen I have tried in other restaurants in Hong Kong which were very salty, the one at Aya is just right, and you can add a few drops of lemon vinegar to make the soup less salty and more refreshing. The broth was amazing- so thick and rich. Can tell they must have put a lot of shrimps in making the broth that tasty.
For drinks we have tried their Green-tea flavored coke. The taste of Green tea wasn't very strong so it tasted like a less sugary soft drink. But still, it was a good fit with the rich-flavored Tseukemen.
I am craving for their Tsukemen again while I was typing this review. Guess its time for a re-visit!
