Nestled among the streets in the food haven of tin hau, is a seafood grill restaurant picturesque of the seafood restaurants in tsukiji fish market. The set menu for 2 was a really good deal! Came with a 4 item salad, raw oysters, grilled clams, grilled oysters, grilled Hokkaido clam, grilled long legged crab, grilled abalone, and choice of seafood rice, steamed chicken rice or clam congee.
You have to try the grilled fish cake! The most unpretentious item on the menu, yet the most surprising in texture and appeal!The abalone was quite appealing with its own squiggly show to watch as they put that shellfish onto the grill. It lasted for 2-3 mins as the grey slimy flesh became creamy, beige and well done. Not usually a fan of tough abalone, this was piping hot, tender, chewy and the meat had a creamy mouth-feel. Lovely.
Walking around in those streets was like a little mini getaway. Every street is lined with restaurants with flavours from around the world. From local fish ball noodles to Japanese yakiniku to an Italian cheese and deli store, each one unique and delicious in its own way.Can't wait to return for more!
