Having tried the Wing Lai Yuen in Whampoa countless times, I've decided to come to Wong Tai Sin to try this original place. Located at the foot of a hill, the restaurant is swarming with customers for a taste of the Sichuan delicacy. We ordered a couple of dishes to share and soy bean milk to top it off.Soy Bean Milk - fragrant and thick are words that I would use to describe this beverage. It's no wonder that everyone orders this. It also helps to neutralise the spiciness of the food. Preserved

Soy Bean Milk - fragrant and thick are words that I would use to describe this beverage. It's no wonder that everyone orders this. It also helps to neutralise the spiciness of the food.
Preserved Eggs and Tofu - this dish was great in both quantity and quality. The tofu was so smooth that it slipped when using the chopsticks. The preserved egg was infused with flavour, but I wouldn't preferred it if it was more raw. The sauce really complemented both items as it was sweet and salty at the same time
Signature Dan Dan Noodles - one of the best dan dan noodles I've tried, as the noodles had a good bouncy texture, which is a nice change as they're easily overcooked. The soup was just right in terms of consistency, not too thick and not too watery. The flavours were all there, enhanced by the addition of Minced meat and peanuts.
Spicy dumplings - just the right dish for those who are looking for a little spice in their meal. The dumplings varied in sizes, indicating that they're hand wrapped. They all had a lot of filling and thin skin.
Rice Cakes in Salty Meat Broth - as per usual, the meat is very salty, so that it can transfer its flavours to the soup. The rice cakes were chewy and I appreciated that it wasn't overcooked or soggy. The addition of vegetables really tied the dish together as it made it less bland.
