After the Saint Honore in Happy Valley closed after being in the same shop for about 30 years, we were anticipating what type of business would replace that location. Quite a few months later, Smart Master Kitchen opened. Without going close up to the store front, you wouldn't guess that it's a restaurant by its decor from the outside. Knowing that the restaurant is owned by the same people as the Tasty Noodle place a couple doors down, we already expected the price to be on the higher end, and we expected the food quality to be comparable to the noodle place. However, the food was quite disappointing.

We also ordered the Poached Ice Plant w/Supreme Soup. I didn't get to take a photo because it took so long for them to serve the dish, and by the time they served the dish, my aunt quickly distributed most of the vegetables before I could take a photo. While all of their other dishes were heavily-seasoned, the vegetables really lacked seasoning. The soup was quite bland and unable to balance out the ice plant's very green flavor. When I bit into the ice plant, it felt like there was a piece of plastic surrounding the stalk of it. Instead of highlighting the ice plant, this cooking method made it quite appalling. I would imagine with the right seasoning and cooking method, the ice plant would be much more delectable.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to others unless you are in search of fried glutinous rice. The waiters were unattentive and would walk away in the middle of serving us, or in the middle of a question. Also, we were extremely thirsty after the meal and were craving a can of soda, which means they used a lot of MSG and salt.
P.S. It was really funny to see the "bus-lady" mopping the floor all night since it was raining and they were constantly cleaning up the rain drops on the hard wood floor.
