I noticed a new restaurant had opened up while I was tramming out of from my place. It was another Singaporean restaurant in the span of one block. Deciding to give it a try, I waited until boyfriend was free to do so.There was plenty of seating room and wasn't too crowded. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. There was plenty of seating room and wasn't too crowded. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. When we were there, they had a lunch and afternoon tea set menu. Set includes a standard hot drink with possible upgrades including add on snacks.
Boyfriend ordered from the tea set menu as he was interested in this: Mini Baked Bread with Curry ($46). You can choose a protein and he had beef brisket. You can also choose between Singaporean or Indian curry. He decided on Singaporean as there was the addition of coconut milk. A bit of this curry sauce was served on the side for a bit more. Much as it sounded appetizing, it really wasn't. The brisket wasn't flavoured with the curry sauce. Instead it was just coated with it so it wasn't really cooked in the sauce. The sauce was alright though extremely spicy. The bread was soft and soggy and didn't hold up well.
I decided on the lunch set: Hainan Chicken Rice ($68).
This came with a bowl of Chinese carrot and pork bone soup. It was rich in flavour.
The bowl of chicken rice was not too good. Not much chicken flavour and was a bit dry.
The chicken was not boneless. Portion was generous but it also wasn't too good. The meat was a bit dry and tough. Not much flavour as well.
It also came with a bowl of steamed vegetables. Nothing to complain about though I did find a dead vegetable bug. I guess you can say organic.
Food wasn't too good. Price was average but most likely won't be back considering there are better places in the surrounding area that serve similar food.
