Taste: This is probably the 15th time I have visited this ramen shop. It has ALWAYS been my favourite and I have recommended this place to alot of people. last time I came here was probably in Oct 2010. Visiting here again in 2011 have somehow changed my mind about this place is best place for ramen. I have recently paid a visit to 豚王 Butao Ramen http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2141604. It is being called the most authentic ramen in Hong Kong. i went there and still thought the ramen here - 橫綱 Yokozuna is the best. So today I came back here to relive the memory. But i finished the ramen and thought, have I changed or have the ramen here have changed?

i no longer think this is the best ramen. having had the chance to try 豚王 Butao Ramen in Central, 橫綱 Yokozuna seems less authentic. Firstly the soup at 豚王 Butao Ramen is much thicker and even if you ordered less thick, the actual taste of Pork bone is more stronger. you can tell it is really made from quality pork bone and hours of cooking the broth. where as the soup in 橫綱 Yokozuna is good and strong flavour, you can tell it is less authentic. and when you have finished the soup you feel thirsty, in need of alot of water whereas Butao you do not need to. I must say, the soup from butao beats the soup broth here. And you need to have tried the both to know.

Service: I was quite disappointed this time coming here. I realized the people have changed. there are ne wpeople working in the kitchen and the service was REALLY SLOW. I waited over 15minutes for my ramen, that never used to happen back in the days. I waited and waited. the extra egg came first and waited with me for another 10 mins. I was not please. When i was ordering, i specifically told the order a few times do not give me a specific ingedients in the ramen. when my ramen came, they forgot about leaving it out. i was deinately not happy. They are so much slower now and it is not good for a small ramens hop like this especially waiting for a whole hour to be seated.
Tea was not refilled regularly.

Conclusion:But i still prefer the noodles here at 橫綱 Yokozuna. I order the thick noodles everytime, and it comes al dente every time. the noodles at Butau is much thinner and abit like beijing Dam dam min. i do not like the texture.

i can't decide which out of the two is my best choice. As one wins in the soup and one wins on the noodle. But what i know is, they both need to line up for 1 hour or more. But here, at least you know you can line up and get a ramen, at butau, the only sell up to 200 bowls a day. So you need be early or no ramen.
