Unfortunately, the result was very disappointing and even a bit irritating.

The famous Bak Kut Teh had very light herbal taste and was not spicy at all, which made me feel very confused why it’s considered authentic? We found 5 pieces of ribs in the pot, but technically speaking they’re not ribs because basically no meat at all. So it’s just a bowl of BONES and an expensive bowl of bones because it charges $118.

About the other dish, the layered pan fried bread, frankly speaking, is very average. The frozen one which you can usually found in Wellcome is even more tasty than this.

Out of curiosity, when we were about to check, I asked the South Asian waitress why there was no meat on the bones and if that was the authentic way they were cooking it. She was hesitating and called the chef out. The so-called Malaysian chef looked really like an Indian guy and he hesitated to answer us. At this moment, I just realized it’s a bit dodgy. The way he treated us was really funny. He didn’t explain or answered my question at all but said he would offer us another one with ribs. I didn’t think it’s a reasonable solution as we already finished our meal and this Bak Kut Teh was not tasty enough to attract me have one more even for free. After we rejected the offer, their Chinese manager/boss showed up. He told me usually there should be both ribs and meat bones in it, but maybe this time the chef made a mistake, so he could offered us a 20% off on this dish. I’m not sure if this is a mistake or whatever other reasons.
Before we left the restaurant, we also heard the “Indian” chef called us b***h and blah blah blah. TBH, I’m not sure if we just had bad luck or we should just come for dinner. A restaurant who charges for service fee has absolutely no service at all. Instead we got insulted. The first impression means everything. You can still go have a try when the chef is in a good mood. Just one advice, remember you have all the right to complain if you don’t enjoy your meal.
