From the title of this review, you can tell that I have been having hotpot for 2 days in a row accidentally. Sorry for my friend who had to bare with my hotpot craving in this cold weather. The first night, we stopped by one of the best Korean hotpot place in Hong Kong which  is hidden in LCX in TST. A bit off the beaten track but it's worth the walk! I remember they do have some very hearty a la carte menu items but we are here for hot pot for sure to fight against the cold  weather. As the sec

As the second time to have hotpot here, I found a few small details changes at this restaurant. For example, they are now providing a sweet soya sauce as well as a salt and pepper mix for you to go with it.

There are mainly 2 types of soup base with another being clam kimchi borsch soup, but I went with the classic one which I believe is also lighter in taste.

A whole piece of succulent spring chicken can be found in the soup and it has actually been stuffed with some rice and chestnuts in it. You may also found a generous amount of red dates floating on top, giving it a really sweet taste.

The chicken meat is very tender I couldn't help but almost finishing the whole thing before our other ingredients arrived!

You may see that the thigh meat is slightly pink in colour showing that it has just been barely cooked.

A few very long stalks of ginseng can also be found in the soup. They are pretty hard at first but then it would become very softened and almost is dissolving into the soup. The taste is still very bittersweet after being cooked for a long time so don't miss it out!

Lobster platter $498

Apart from the soup base, we have ordered a very luxurious platter full of many different kind of veggies base and meat base ingredients. Apart from some really quality meat, there are also lots of fresh Japanese veggies and some common veggies like corn and courgette.

Homemade minced cuttlefish and dace fish

You might have seen these kind of minced meat in these bamboo containers in normal HK style hotpot places but Joomak's one is twisted using cuttlefish and dace fish mixed with kimchi. They are not too spicy but the kimchi would give a kick to it. The cuttlefish one is chewier while the dace fish is softer with a stronger fishy taste.

After just a few minutes in boiling soup, they are floating and become softened. They are very satisfying and also fun to eat!

Soya knot

This is one of my favourite things to eat from the menu. They are like soya bean sheet (not the deep fried one) but slightly tougher and it is tied in knot shape. After being tied, the texture is more complex with some chewy in the middle and tender on the sides.

They can become tastier and tastier after being cook for longer time because it would absorb all the flavours from the soup.

Ice plant

Not only ice plant looks sexy, but they are absolutely delicious with a good crunch to it. Every piece is bling bling like covered in crunchy water drops. Though the veggie become softened after being cooked but the crunchiness remained,  a unique kind of mouth explosion.

Pumpkin

With no doubt, these pumpkin pieces are sweet with a buttery feel. It can be dissolved into the water very quickly if you don't take them out after it's cooked.

Lobster

Moving on to the next tray, which is mainly seafood and meat options. I can't wait to dig in already because I can see that the whole lobster is really big in size and fresh in colour with no bad odor. The lobster has already been chopped up and cracked into pieces which is quite easy for you to consume.

Kale
As one of the superfood in trend, the kale is in dark green colour which is actually very good for you. Kale is nice to eat raw but it's also not bad after being cooked and softened up a little bit if you are not too into hard rough veggies.

Even the head of the lobster is provided for you and it only takes minutes for it to be cooked. There are even roes in the head which is absolutely delicious. Some meat is also attached to the head which  has a strong taste.

The claws are really big and they have already been cracked for you. If you still find it difficult to open them, a pair of scissors is also provided for you.

Great clams
The clams are really big in size also although we found a few pieces of them are not opening up after being boiled. For those edible ones, they are nice and plumped with a good sea water taste.

US Beef + Pork belly slice
There are two types of meat provided, beef and pork. They are both very long in length which is fun to eat. The pork belly is very similar to bacon and has a light porky taste and almost half of it is fat. On the other hand, the beef is slightly leaner and  the beef taste is very strong and enjoyable. The beef is tender and it went well with the sour soya sauce that has already been provided on our table.

They are both good and a piece of each is just enough for us to get a taste of it but we do understand that there are many other ingredients that we can enjoy.

Cheese bean curd $24
We have ordered this extra and we are glad that we made a good choice. They are pretty similar to fish tofu which has a strong and delicious fish taste. The cheese inside oozes out once you bite into it and combined nicely with the soft texture from the fish cake itself. It's a bomb to enjoy and I cannot get enough of it.

Sweet chicken congee $48

At last, you can't imagine that we would still have the space for rice but yes we have ordered this which is actually just a bowl of rice with some seaweed for us to cook it in the hotpot specially the ginseng chicken soup base. The fact that the rice turned purple is because we have forgotten about the sweet potato so it was dissolved into the soup, making our congee in purple colour.

In just a few minutes of time, the soup got thickened up by the rice and they are ready to eat. I must say that the soup at this point is almost concentrate so it was pretty salty and we could only take a few bites of it.

Turkey apple tea with honey $68



We wanted to  have something light and refreshing for our hotpot so we have ordered this sweet fruit tea, which has just a subtle taste of sweetness (depending on how much honey you put in it. The apple taste is also very subtle and it tasted rather floral. Still, not a bad choice to have if you don't wanna add extra calorie in your meal.

Ginseng and honey slush $78
If you like to have something  cold during hotpot like me, you may want to order their slush which is ice cold as a whole stalk of ginseng gets blended with some crushed ice and some  honey. It's not too sweet but rather bittersweet  from the ginseng medicine itself. It's healthy and it's delicious! I highly recommend it.

If you wanna try something different  rather than some traditional HK style hotpot, Joomak is not a bad choice for comfort food in TST area if you are nearby Harbour City. The seating is comfortable and the view is spectacular facing our beautiful Victoria Harbour. Price wise, it's reasonable for the price as we had a lot of seafood items. I would come back again if I am in the area!
