French Window . To be frank , worst than what I thought . I am quite disappointed with overall performance . This maybe base on my high expectation . I am not going to recommended this for french cuisine , so if u are looking for something really typical in authentic French style . This may out of your expectation . The breadbasket
Here comes the Breadbasket, not interesting at all . One kind of french baguette was served that is not hot and crunchy with a dry texture , even hard to chew . Butter is in a hard condition , not spreadable and buttery , but it's very salty!
Foie Gras
Glance through the menu , I notice they offer very casual dishes that doesn't mean no good . Simple can be perfect . However , their simple dishes reveal their dishes are not up to standard and pricy based on their quality . For starter, we take the pan- fried duck foie gras with jus , toasted brioche and gratinated turnips . The taste doesn't really arousing . Since it is Foie gras , it's easy to create a dense and rich texture , goes well with toasted brioche but the foie gras itself is not hot enough and not even goes smooth . Moreover , I think the marination of the turnip is over sour that doesn't match with the Foie Gras at all ( as a side dish , it may be creative , but it's not unique ) .
Salmon Tartare
For the other one , is the Salmon Tartar . Well - presented , the flavor is quite refreshing with sliced cucumber , fish roe and mayonnaise egg salad . Comprehensive ingredients that makes the layer more extensive and the texture more fruitful . This is not bad
Premium Degustation Platter
For the set "Le Menu Gourmand " , it's per person, don't appreciate at all . Welcome drink " Kir Royal " . No sparkles , insipid with artificial favor . For the" Premium Degustation Platter " , was nicely decorated . However , the essential parts cooked in a sloppy way . The snail is not hot at all , seems even not well cooked or baked , it's like putting in the oven for 1 min .6
The taste are awful since it's not cooked , tasteless too . The crab cake is not bad with thin -crust , quite crispy with stripped cream cucumber base . The content is fill up with crab meat , given out a plump mouthfuls .For the salmon and oyster , nothing special , both are not fresh . I think the oyster is " coffin bay " , extremely small , tiny and salty , seems spoiled .
Truffle soup with bread crumbs
The soup is better than what I thought after the disappointment . The soup is hot enough in a creamy mushroom foundation , strong truffle hint too . It is aromatic andstomach warming after a first few spoon . The soup is flavorable , match well the bread crumbs , it crunchy texture can enhance the overall performance . At least can strike a balance during the dining time .
Halibut Fillet
For the main course . Mr take " Surf and Turf" , lobster with beef sirloin, he mentioned the quality is better than Maxim's or Fairwood . So , I took the Halibut Fillet topped with breadcrumb and curry crust , served with white wine braised leeks and mussels . This the hightlight in the dining experience , the halibut is well baked in perfect timing , Halibut is in up to standard , very smooth and fresh ,the cookery successfully maintain it own succulent content with excellent taste . Rosemary ,breadcrumbs sprinkle on top with curry crust , what a savory ! Mussels in blue shell is a bit small , but overall is still fresh decent .
Chocolate Fondant
For the dessert , the set offer the chocolate fondant . It's one of my favourite , but it's under average . The chocolate fondant got the same problem , not hot enough , it doesn't melt when I cut it ,disappointed . The chocolate base is also not strong and rich , doesn't arouse me . I prefer the fondant goes with an icecream . This is very common in other restaurants.
Overall I think it 's over commercial that seems more like a tourists spot . The waiters are not well- trained . They are not familiar with the menu and dishes . No illustration or even a brief elaborate when they serve the dish , they just put down the dish and leave . The main point is they don't even recognize what dishes they are offering , I need to require and even find it from the menu by myself . I think such situation is really awkward ! Moreover , their service was quite impolite , mostly waitress look indifferent and slow motion .
I do think the restaurant need to put more effort to build customer trust and reputation, focus on details and urge more caring dining experiences. The dining routine seems a bit messy and doesn't fit french style . Should be more decent and classy . Not expected in IFC , right ? The meal and service ruin a high end environment with such lofty ambience and eye catching entrance .
