Met a friend for dinner at Greyhound Cafe as we both haven't tried it before. With several branches, we chose one that was near her place of residence. Greyhound Cafe is originally from Bangkok. Greyhound style Ice Lemon Tea ($38). We had never been here before but boyfriend had. When I asked him what he recommended, he only could utter their ice lemon tea. So, we ordered it. Um...yeah. It was ok. The only thing was they made the ice cubes with the tea but otherwise, I've had better ice tea.
Seafood Pineapple Fried Rice ($148). Fried rice was ok. The pineapple wasn't added into the rice. Instead they grilled them and stuck them on a stick on the side. The pineapple was sweet but I think it could have been grilled a bit longer if they were planning to serve it this way. The seafood only included a few pieces of squid and some shrimp.
Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings ($78). The menu claimed these were so famous someone dropped them in the sand and still picked them up and ate them. Um. ... ok. Maybe the guy hadn't eaten in months? But were they good? Quite good actually. They were dry but strongly seasoned.
Beef Massaman Curry ($108). This came with roti and naan. The naan was better than the roti. The roti was a bit too oily and chewy. The curry was pretty delicious. It said on the menu it was sweet and yes ... it was very sweet. So sweet, it tasted like a spoonful of sugar. The beef was very tender, the meat just fell apart easily.
Salad de Foie Gras ($168). I have no idea how they can call this even a salad. It was basically some baby spinach on the bottom, some mango cubes on the side, a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and foie gras on top. The foie gras wasn't even seared properly. This was a total utter mess. And the oddest thing is that all the food came out all within 15 minutes but this? This came after we finished eating. Does it take that long to make a salad?
Food was ok. Except for the salad. That was a disgrace to the word salad. Service, however, was terrible. Whenever we needed something, we were ignored. We literally saw them duck their heads and pretend to do something. Now that I'm writing this, I realize this is the branch with the worst service every. Every review was poor service. I guess go to the other ones and skip the one here.
