Through a friend's recommendation, I happened to know a Japanese restaurant known for their omakase. I decided to bring my wife there for lunch. Yume Cuisine was located at Wo On Lane, just beside Lan Kwai Fong, Central. We decided to choose their seasonal Kaiseki, priced at $620 per person. It consisted of starter, fresh seafood, sashimi, fried item, grilled dish, rice, miso soup and dessert. The chef served us 2 small bowls, which consisted of yuzu bubble and grape and corn water. The chef served us 2 small bowls, which consisted of yuzu bubble and grape and corn water. Yuzu bubble was refreshing, helping to clear my palate. Grape and corn water was sweet, with corn and grape soft and chewy.
It consisted of 5 small dishes, from sweet to sour in taste. Egg white with bean was tasteless, soft and smooth. Pumpkin with egg yolk was sweet and chewy. Black sesame tofu was soft and smooth, with strong black sesame taste. Chestnut jelly and chewy and crunchy, going well with jelly. 露純 was crunchy and juicy, taro wrapped with spinach was sweet and chewy too.
The way of eating was interesting, with scallop paste mixed with corn, black ink and rose cracker. Scallop was sweet and soft, going well with the cracker which was soft and crispy.
Surf clam sashimi was chewy and sweet. Needle fish sashimi was fresh and chewy, mixed with ginger provided at the side.
Fried corn ball with crab roe was very crispy and flavourful. Fried sakura prawn with crab paste ball was flavourful and chewy as well.
Fried snapper fish - It was fried till the skin was very crispy and yet the fish was soft and smooth. Lobster paste was very flavourful, going well with the fish.
Sweet corn pudding was very creamy and sweet, with strong sweet corn taste. There is crab meat in it as well.
A4 wagyu beef was very tender and juicy, with XO sauce provided to enhance the taste.
Isaki sashimi was sweet and chewy.
Mantis shrimp sashimi was flavourful and juicy, with sauce spread at the top.
Sea urchin roll was very soft and smooth, flavourful as well. Seaweed was very soft and crispy.
Miso soup was served hot and was tasty, with tofu and mushroom in it.
Coffee ice cream was sweet, with strong coffee taste.
