went on a saturday night and found it very disappointing.me and gf had high expectations as we saw it on a tv show and on arriving, saw that there were several shops on the same street! surely, it has to be good right?well not really. we ordered a pork rib & sausage and curry beef brisket claypot rice. the former had alot of burnt rice which had a strong smell all over the dish. on complaining, the lady combed through the rice and felt it wasn't that burnt to be replaced. in the end, we just ate

well not really. we ordered a pork rib & sausage and curry beef brisket claypot rice. the former had alot of burnt rice which had a strong smell all over the dish. on complaining, the lady combed through the rice and felt it wasn't that burnt to be replaced. in the end, we just ate the meat, leaving the bad tasting sausage as well as at least half the pot of rice. we purposely placed all the burnt rice on show which i hope the staff could 'understand' why we didn't finish it!
the curry claypot rice was appalling bland. one of the worst curry sauce i've ever tried - just nothing curry-like about it except the colour. had no curry taste but just salty. i know hk curry is unique but this is just bad. the texture of the beef brisket, however, was the only plus point.
the oyster omelette was very greasy but contained a fair amount of oyster. at $40 (?) for a small one, it ought to contain a decent amount of oyster in my opinion!
we queued for around 15 mins. setting was nothing special; it is what it is. service is prompt and efficient. overall, however, Hing Kee has over-extended itself. in our experience, quality has obviously suffered. they have so many claypot rice being cooked that they simply cannot maintain quality in each consistently. hk has so many other better places and other types of food to try that this massively overrated place.
