My friend took me to chicken hotpot tonight. I was very pleased with the quality of the food and service here. The restaurant was decorated like the old Hong Kong. It was terrific, it felt like we were going back to the past. What I also like is that everything is all you can eat. The chicken hotpot arrived first, it smelled so good. We waited for 5 minutes for it to heat up and then the staff mixed it up for us. I was amazed when I saw the abalone, it was delicious. The abalone was crunchy and soft and full of flavour. The chicken was so good! They are tender and meaty. While we were about finished, the staff asked us to fill in the hotpot form.
For hotpot, we chose the popular satay soup. It was specially made and it tasted very good.
We also got a seafood platter which included a wide range of fresh seafood. The shrimp and oyster were soft. The clams were a bit sandy. The fish didn’t take long to cook, the texture was crunchy and sweet.
The angus beef looked mouthwatering. The colour looked so fresh. The texture was very tender and juicy. We ordered two plates of it.
The pork tasted very good too, they were in thin slices. The texture was soft and easy to chew.
The deep fried bean curds were crispy and crunchy. We didn’t leave it in the soup for long so it was still crispy when we eat it. The veggies were fresh and crispy and the sweet corn was sweet. The meat ball was crunchy and super juicy.
The octopus was soft and easy to chew; I like the pig skin very much. It absorbed all the soup and very easy to chew.
To finish off, we still have the old fashioned shaved ice. It had herbal jelly, red beans and mixed topical fruit with condensed milk. The combination was such a good match. It really helped to cool off after the hotpot.
