Embarking on a trip to seek out good cakes, we ended up in the Mandarin Oriental cake shop. There was quite a variety of cakes to choose from, and some of the combinations just sounded divine. In the end we opted for the 'Lychee and Raspberry Mousse' and cassis 'Mousseline Vanilla Bavaroise With Sago'. For some reason I was expecting the taste to be quite strong, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were not. The lychee and rasberry mousse was light and fluffy, it was not too sweet

For some reason I was expecting the taste to be quite strong, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were not. The lychee and rasberry mousse was light and fluffy, it was not too sweet and was quite appetising. I am not a huge berry fan, but the cassis mousselin vanilla Bavaroise with sago, also gets the thumbs up, the berry taste was not too overpowering, again very light and fluffy. These cakes are perfect if you want a dessert that is not too sweet and sickly.
It might be worth checking out the big cakes too, although not pretty in presentation I saw them flying off the shelves, actions speak louder than words as they say.
