Ths restaurant was highly recommeded by a friend, so I decided to venture out to TST for lunch. There were just the 2 of us, and we ordered 4 dim sum dishes. The meal would have been perfect had it not been the incidents with the bill at the end.

We were charged for 2 dim sums that we did not consume. The waitress rectified it immediately but I only noticed it as we just had 4 dim sums, so adding another 2 was quite obvious. Imagine there are more people eating with a larger bill as a result, I would certainly not be able to spot the mistake, so I will probably end up being over-charged! Also, there was a charge of $3 added to the bill automatically for charitable donation. The waitress did mention it but only when the bill was presented with the donation already added. I then noticed a small card on the table giving more details of the donation and mentioning that the $3 will be added automatically to the bill unless the customer asks for it to be excluded. But who would read it though?

I know it is only $3, but it is not appropriate for the restaurant to assume that the customer would be willing to make a donation. The right approach should be to ask the customer beforehand and only add the donation to tbe bill if the customer agrees. I appreciate this is for a good cause, but I have never been to a restaurant where customers are made to donate in this way. It is a small amount of money but it is the principle that matters!
