My colleague and I were just running some errands in Central after work. We were going to pick up some dinner before heading to her home to eat.

We turned into Gilman’s Bazaar and there was the smell of siu mei wafting in the air. My friend immediately said she wanted cha siu. However, we didn’t know where we could get it.

Then, lo and behold, a few meters ahead we see this shop. We walked in. Since it was quite late, it seemed to be closing down for the day. My friend ordered half a pound of cha siu. The cashier told the butcher to give us more tender meat.

The butcher seemed to have given us more than half a pound, while he was weighing the meat he gestured that he had added more in. The cashier also gave my friend a box of broccoli and cauliflower and chinese soup for free. They told us that it was their first week of opening. Immediately we thought the shop was super generous but it was probably because they just opened and it was nearing the end of the night. We got so much food for the price of half a pound of cha siu ($48).

When we returned home we tried the cha siu and my god it was absolutely delicious. It’s absolutely comparable with the cha siu you get in high class restaurants!

We highly recommend this place, just wishing it was at a more convenient location for us but I’m sure it’s great location for anyone working/living in Central!
