Since I have opened my JC a/c I have been spending money on betting every week. This is my first time coming to the racecourse in Shatin and I think it is just a lot bigger than the HV one, but it's more old school though. Once I reached the doorstep of Hay Market, I felt like I have entered another dimension. The big open bar at the middle is probably the highlight of the restaurant. However, alcoholic drinks is not included in their semi-buffet lunch. The upstairs area is maining for resting as well as washroom, while the dining area is split into left and right.

Live betting is also available at the counter or at some of the tables with computer screens. Since I am a member already, I just use my mobile phone or I can use their tablet to bet while enjoying my meal comfortably.

The cheese board has a few selections of cheese from different countries including France, Spain, Swiss, and more. The cheese selection was actually surprisingly high quality when comparing to my expectation in other food options.

There are lots of baking goods available including some croissants, danish, muffins, dinner rolls, bread and other puff pastries. I have only tried their almond croissant and it was amazing wiht a crispy crust and sweet almond cream fillings.

In their seafood stastion, they have a mix between cooked and raw sashimi, including cooked whelk, prawn, mussels, along with some raw fish selections. I personally liked the cooked ones a bit more just because they have better flavour and freshness. 

On the side, they also have a few pasta based and vegetable based salad, nuts, and some cold cuts for you to create your own desired plate of heathiness.

One of the highlights of the restaurant would be their made-to-order omelette. You may choose your favourite toppings to put in your omelette, personally I am greedy and I like most of the ingredients so I just went all in!

The orzo was cooked with seafood stock which was in a rich yellowish orange colour. It absorbed all the stock therefore the orzo itself was pretty salty and I would prefer a lighter version of pasta if possible.

There are two scallops and two prawns grilled with a char surface which was slightly overcooked but the taste and texture was not bad.

After having the main course, we have to wait until 2pm for them to bring out the dessert station. So we decided to step outside for some sunshine, fresh air, and of course some exciting horce racing games!

As soon as the desserts were served, we couldnt be more excited since we all have a sweet tooth. Their ice creams are from haagen daz, as far as I remember, there are mango and berries, cookies and cream, chocolate, and vanilla. Pretty standard and classic.

Pretty classic with a nice sweet fillings and butter crust, the warm vanilla sauce was not to be missed.

Hazelnut crunch is another very hazelnutty dessert with a thick layer of chocolate coating with some mousse like filling inside.

The mousse was pretty smooth inside and it was an interesting compliment with the crunchy texture. However, it was slightly too sweet to my liking especially the milk chocolate coating.

A chocolatey basic cake with no big surprises. The taste was pretty predicable and it was again a little bit too sweet to my liking, maybe it's just me who can't handle sweet treats?

Though the earl grey tea was almost not noticable The raspberry cream filling was pretty sour which I like, the choux pastry was still fresh without being too soggy. It was not bad and I could easily have 1 or 2 of these.

Milk chocolate and port wine Creme brulee

The port wine is one of my favourite kind of dessert wine, again, the taste of it was not noticeable but the whole thing was still pretty presentable and enjoyable. The creme brulee itself was smooth.

By the way, they also have low sugar version of NY cheesecake but I personally found it a bit rough and it was a bit too sour to my preferred kind of NY cheesecake.

My favourite dessert so far, the housemade pastachio ice cream has a nice nutty flavour but not too sweet, while the cherry jubilee was prepared freshly by heating it up from the pan, the warm and cold contradiction was very pleasant. The cherry was big and juicy, the juicy just bursts out as soon as you bite into it, and it went nicely with the light ice cream. I would love to have more of it.

I liked that their milk was served warm. Nothing wrong with this coffee and it was actually better than I expected in terms of the flavour from the coffee beans.
