This 冰室 mainly served different kinds of noodles with top-ups at different prices for an accompanying snack. Prices were pretty reasonable given the location. They were quite flexible that you could choose either mixian, rice noodles, 粉絲, Shanghainese noodles to go with your mains. Very accommodative indeed! We were in a group of three. We each ordered a mains and then two add on snacks together with a snack to share. The food was swiftly served to us.

It was one of the chef's recommendations and was a super healthy bowl. I would really recommend it to those who want healthy options. The soup was pretty clear and lack of oil. There were quite a few pieces of fish maw although they were not big. But they were quite crispy. There were two long pieces of dried snails which were pretty al dente. There were 4 slices of slow cooked chicken breasts which were super tender and lean. The mixian was super smooth. There was one big piece of 小棠菜. Yummy and healthy indeed.

Wagyu with veggies Korean sauce mixed noodle at $68

There were two big and a few small pieces of wagyu sprinkled by some white sesame on top and the beef were pretty good to chew and well seasoned. The portion of veggies was giant. There was quite a lot of spinach and a lot of seasoned Chinese mushrooms and some bean sprouts. They were all so fresh. There were also three pieces of bean curd puffs and a whole hard-boiled egg. The Shanghainese noodles I chose were quite yummy after mixing with the Korean sauce which was just a little bit spicy. It was quite a healthy bowl as well!

This one was also one of the chef's recommendations and to my surprise seemed to be the best amongst the 3 we ordered although it was the cheapest! The pepper soup was not super super rich in pepper so that it was just slightly spicy which I found appropriate. There were like 4 pieces of pork
belly which were crispy yet lean and 3 pieces of chicken. The chicken was pretty good as they were rich in chicken flavour and were pretty tasty just
like free range chicken. The mixian was again super smooth. There were some bean sprouts to add texture while the pickled veggies on top were not overly salty given that the whole bowl was not overly seasoned. Again, another healthy bowl to order.

Then here you go the add-on snacks at $18 each.

The portion was giant with a lot of woodears, some bean curd puffs and some cucumbers. Quite good value for money. But it was quite spicy.

The spinach were pretty fresh and tender with some white sesame sprinkled on top. It was very healthy and free of oil. It had a relatively lower rating just because of the smaller portion.

招牌水餃&新竹米粉 at $45

The snack we ordered was this 招牌水餃&新竹米粉 which you could choose sour & spicy soup instead of the rice noodles. There were 6 dumplings which were quite delicious. No wonder their signature. Wrapping was not those super thin type but not too thick. There were quite a lot of pork and some veggies in the stuffing. The soup was clear and they went great with the vinegar served separately on the table. The accompanying rice noodles were pretty nice which were not overly soft and could be left longer even in soup. I was surprised that there were toppings which were seasoned minced pork and some super tender beef tendon as well as half a marinated egg. These toppings were quite yummy indeed. There was also one 小棠菜 added together with some fresh coriander to enhance flavour.

冷豆漿 at $6 each

Cold soya bean milk was served in a whole bottle and was not overly sweet at all yet good to help relieve your thirst.

Given the location, the restaurant was run more like a fast food restaurant so that everything was served in disposable containers. The best thing was that food quality was in general pretty good with a lot of healthy options at quite reasonable prices in this location. They were not those typical fast food options out there but for those who were more demanding of higher quality food for even just a quick lunch on a business workday. Definitely somewhere to come back from time to time for lunch.
