To fight against COVID-19, let's try to eat more at home. But eating at home doesn't mean we have to cook because there is something called takeaway! To ensure that the quality of takeaway food would not be too bad, it is worth taking some time to think about what to get. The destination this time was 爆丼屋 in MongKok! Their takeaways were offered at 20% discount! Their don menus looked so appealing especially this 松葉蟹Don which was seasonal and limited edition. We decided to order this.
And we also ordered the Premium Foie Gras and Mixed Sashimi Big Don as it seemed a new attempt to have foie gras in a Japanese don!
松葉蟹Don $275
Ingredients were simple with crab, crab and CRAB! There were 2 crab claws and 8 crab legs with most shells already removed. The crab legs were all RARE and texture-wise they were very smooth although the flavour was not particularly outstanding. There were some crab shreds topped by some salty black fish roes to enhance flavour. There was a mini Japanese egg cake with their name on it. The portion of crab was not small! Presentation was very nice even in a take-away bowl.
And to our surprise, there was a mountain of chopped tuna with spring onion underneath the crabs! It was super smooth and perfectly salty to go with the sushi rice underneath. The portion of the sushi rice was quite big. Quality of the ingredients was quite good even for take-away!

This don had a lot of different ingredients including 1 piece of foie gras, 2 slices of uni, 12 pieces of scallops surrounding the whole bowl, black fish roes, salmon roes, a raw egg and a Japanese egg cake (with their name on it). Presentation was so nice although it was a take-away don! First of all, the quality of the foie gras was still pretty good. It was cold yet it was so smooth inside and the crust was so thin! The uni was super fresh and creamy - very high quality! The scallops were all pretty fresh and meaty! It was quite a creative and good idea to add a raw egg to the sushi rice because it had made the rice much more smoother and smell so nice of egg yolk! The salty salmon roes and black fish roes also helped enhance the flavour of the rice bowl! The sushi rice in this bowl was still ok although taken away so that it was not too hard and suitably moist. I personally liked this don even more!

Miso Soup (complimentary)
Each don had a complimentary miso soup coming along. Their miso soup was outstanding because it had some very tender beef cubes with sweet radish slices in addition to carrot slices. It was very concentrated and the texture was even thicker than the normal miso soup out there! It was great to supplement a cold don meal by hot miso soup!
Cream Soda $18 each
They also had other soft drinks, green tea, marble soda, beer and sake on their menu apart from cream soda we ordered.
Everything was nicely packed for take-away.
Service was very efficient that I only waited 5 minutes for our food. Other dons also looked so appealing. Look forward to trying next time.
