午市選擇頗多,有點花多眼亂的感覺。用了相當多的時間選擇, 最後點了十六點自選壽司和一客天婦羅定食。

The menu is in Chinese, Japanese and English. They have quite a large number of lunch sets to choose from.

We ordered a 16 piece sushi set (of your own choosing) and a tempura set.

我們點了: 帶子,甜蝦,三文魚子,干瓢卷,薑蔥吞拿魚腩卷,火灼吞拿魚腩壽司,海膽,左口魚,蟹肉棒及章紅魚。可選擇是否將山葵放入壽司內。

We choose scallops, ama Ebi, ikura, kanpyo maki, negitoro maki, grilled toro, flounder, uni, kinmedai, crab meat & amberjack.

由於我們坐四人枱,所以師傅並不知道我們到底用手或用筷子進食壽司壽司普遍列得比較鬆身,所以提議用手進食。

最值得一題的是這裏的壽司飯是用紅醋來醃的。這好像和「湖舟」的壽司飯有點相似。味道比一般用白醋醃的壽司飯較為深沉和有輕微甜味,很特別。

每件壽司的溫度剛好,所用的材料都頗新鮮。雖然並不便宜,但大家都吃得滿意。

Customers could choose whether to have wasabi inside the sushi or not. In fact, I believe that having wasabi inside the sushi seems to be how authentic "Edo Mae" sushi are made. Nevertheless, we opted not to have wasabi inside the sushi as our little guest wouldn't be too pleased.

The interesting point about the sushi here is that the chef used red vinegar instead of white vinegar to make the sushi rice. Other than the color, there is a noticeable different in taste. Red vinegar sushi rice is usually less sour and tend to have a slight taste of wine.

The quality of all the sushi were good. There seafood used were all fresh and the temperature of which the sushi were served was just right.

The set cost $450, which is certainly not cheap but acceptable in view of the quality of the food.

我的天婦羅和套餐相比之下較為遜色。跟餐的茶碗蒸味道很淡。內有椎茸及銀杏。所用的可能不是魚湯,或魚湯味道很薄弱。

天婦羅套餐有兩隻大蝦,冬菇,秋葵,南瓜,茄子,番薯和青椒。

在右下角有少量的岩鹽或海鹽, 我一向認為海鮮天婦羅點鹽較點汁好,所以喜歡多一點鹽。雖然用料尚算不錯,但炸漿頗為油膩。吃得有點不是味兒。平心而論, $120是可接受的。

My tempura set, on the other hand, was not as good as the sashimi set.

First of all, I find the taste of the Chawan mushi rather light. It had some shiitake and ginkgo in it. I suspect either the dashi (fish broth) used was too diluted or that they did not use dashi at all.

The tempura set had two shrimps, shiitake, okura, pumpkin, nasu, sweet potato and shishito.

There was also a little bit of pink salt. I would prefer to have more salt. In my experience, seafood tempura usually matches better with salt than with sauce.

The tempura batter was fairly crispy but quite oily. I find it quite hard to finish the whole set.

Having said that, it's not bad for $120.



總結: 雖然天婦羅不太得我歡心,但壽司質素高,大大提高了分數。套餐選擇亦豐富。不妨一試。

This place certainly has a lot of potential. All in all, I would recommend the sushi set. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area.
