Great food, brilliant service and ambience. Plenty of food from the Restaurant Week lunch menu at an excellent price.Lunch was a semi buffet with a choice of main course. Great food, brilliant service and ambience. Plenty of food from the Restaurant Week lunch menu at an excellent price.

Lunch was a semi buffet with a choice of main course. We opted for the Chateaubriand for two, and the set also came with a serving of Broken Eggs "Huevos Ranchos", as well as a dessert each.

The buffet station had a selection of cured Spanish meats, as well as salads, bread and cheese. The Broken Eggs came with slices of cured meat and fried potatoes, which were slightly oily.

Our main - the Chateaubriand, was served with a side of dressed baby spinach and rocket and potato gratin. The fillet was served medium rare as requested, and had a nice crust, although a large temperature gradient was present, resulting in a thick rim of dry and overcooked meat.

The desserts - cheesecake with berry coulis and flan were a delightful ending to the meal as they were not too sweet.

We arrived at 7:30 and the restaurant were already so packed and crowded. Music was loud. Seafood charcoal baked rice “Al- Horno” $340
Mussels, clams, prawns and squid were fresh and cooked in a separate skillet. The waitress mixed the baked rice with the seafood (and removed the shells) for us. The rice was full of flavours, the rice was cooked to perfection! Impressive!

Service: my glass of water was never refilled even the waiter came to collect the dishes for a few times. The waiter took the fries away without asking and there were actually still few pieces in there.

Food and service are both average. $432 per person.

To be successful at such a location, you have to turn it into a destination , and that is what the Pirata Group did.Already one of my preferred places for a happy hour, I have now also become a regular to enjoy lunch and brunch at one of my favourite Spanish restaurants in town. Value for money is incredible and there is no other place in town where a Monkey 47 Gin Tonic can be enjoyed at HKD 88, correct me if I am wrong.Last Saturday, I enjoyed my first brunch at The Optimist, priced at HKD 34

Already one of my preferred places for a happy hour, I have now also become a regular to enjoy lunch and brunch at one of my favourite Spanish restaurants in town.

Value for money is incredible and there is no other place in town where a Monkey 47 Gin Tonic can be enjoyed at HKD 88, correct me if I am wrong.

Last Saturday, I enjoyed my first brunch at The Optimist, priced at HKD 348 per person. This includes appetizer buffet, 3 starters, main course and dessert.
You can add free flow of prosecco and more for another HKD 180.

The appetizer buffet is similar to their lunch buffet, packed with Spanish delicacies, from a variety of cold cuts, cheeses and salads to Chorizo in red wine sauce, gazpacho (cold spicy vegetable soup), crostinis, Spanish omelette and more. Be careful that you keep your appetite for what's coming after....

The 3 starters were served together and consisted of Gambas a la plancha (blue prawns grilled on sea salt) served with a Kimuchi sauce, mushroom croquettas and broken eggs "Huevos Rotos (Iberico ham, chorizo, potatoes and eggs)...we specially enjoyed the Huevos Rotos which were served in a steel pan and mixed on the table.

For the main course, we ordered and shared the grilled pork spare ribs and the charcoal grilled flat iron steak which was served with grilled veggies.
The spare ribs were super tender and topped with a barbecue sauce, the Australian flat iron steak came with a delicious herby chimichurri sauce (FYI, the flat iron aka Oyster blade, is the most marbled muscle from the shoulder part of the steer and often used for hot pot).

The flat iron was slighlty over done and the attentive waiter pleased us further by giving us a taste of their flank/flap meat steak. This piece of meat was served spot on, very juicy with a lovely beef flavour. This being said, even the flat iron was okay and we did not ask for this special treatment.

We were really full now with the dessert still to come....

For dessert we were treated with a caramel flan and a creamy cheese cake served in a glass with a berrysauce on the side.

We couldn't have left more happy and the waiter Harman once again proved that the Pirata group is setting the standards when it comes up to customer care and service in Hong Kong.

Including a virgin Mojito and espresso, our check was 449.50 per person. Incredible experience and we shall be back soon.

Actually I am having dinner at Pirata tonight which belongs to the same group and is located on the top floor at the same building

I had a great evening in the Optimist, and am quite surprised to read plenty of criticism on the service, but I guess some people will find the "joke" of those waiters a bit annoying but the ladies in my table enjoyed that well and true I personally don't like the fact that they put us at the top level of the restaurant when I saw , during the walk, that the middle floor was actually almost empty the time we arrived by booking at a rather early time (6:00pm). and true I personally don't like the fact that they put us at the top level of the restaurant when I saw , during the walk, that the middle floor was actually almost empty the time we arrived by booking at a rather early time (6:00pm). I saw that when I left, the middle floor was mostly foreigners & I don't know if that is a discrimination or just a coincidence. But despite that little crack, the food does left me a strong good impression so I'd will definitely visit again when I'm going to have a well dinner but not too frequently as the spending is afterall above my average dining expenses

We were two and came on a Friday at 6.30. The bar on the ground floor was pretty busy with everyone getting excited about weekend. On the first floor, though, it was quiet with only one or two tables filled (which was good, as I prefer a peaceful atmosphere). We were served by an attentive waiting staff who gave his recommendations and looked after us pretty much throughout our meal.

Grilled octopus was the absolute highlight of the meal. I haven’t had such tender octopus in a long time, and the ajada sauce was fabulous.

Salad was fresh and good. Appreciated the avocado.

We also had some white wine, which was great with the seafood.


Overall same story as at Pirata - no explicit 10% markup for services, but prices on the menu would adequately reflect cost and profit. And I imagine most diners would round up their tips to roughly 10% in any case (you get the gist). Overall rating an A-.

我自己就比較欣賞有西班牙特式, 手工細緻精巧的tapas:
Tapas 在西班牙某些地區是叫Pintxos。 Tapas在西班牙語中是「蓋」的意思,就是把食材一層層蓋起來,種類豐富保留了食材的原本味道,又很精巧。

這款brie pintxos 是十分有西班牙風味的tapas, 雖然細細件, 但要求的手功不少。
烘過的多士在底, 還有芝士, 上面配上果醬或合桃, 味道是在其他西班牙餐廳未試過。

Chroizo wine sauce 表面上好像是一個湯, 實際上是濃濃酒香, 配上西班牙特式香腸, 比較重口味, 但值得一試。
當吃完重口味的食物, 當然要吃一點清新的中和一下。

Salmorejo 是西班牙著名的番茄冷湯, 雖然顏色有點像甘荀,
但飲下去的味道是鮮番茄製, 而不是港式使用茄羔開稀而成的那種湯, 味道清新。

吃了一盤冷點, 再加面包, 其實已經半飽。餐廳的面包配了兩款醬汁, 不是牛油和Olive oil, 而是像salsa一般的白色醬汁和另一款橙色的醬汁。

當流心蛋和iberico ham混在一起吃時, 蛋黃的味道和風乾豬肉片混在一起, 好像在口裡水乳交融一般~

coffee & ice-cream 其實是affogato - 一邊放了熱滕滕的咖啡, 另一邊是十分冰凍的雲尼拿雪糕, 當熱滕滕的咖啡倒落冰凍的雲尼拿雪糕, 半溶化的雪糕的甜味中和了咖啡的甘苦。

Flan 是 egg flan, lemon cream, almond crunch, 上碟時隻碟仍是凍的, 明顯地生日D字係雪過的。
Egg Flan 是一款西班牙特式甜品, 用煉奶同蛋製成, 配上雪糕, 味道有點甜, 但就是一個很好的生日甜點

Black Truffle Rice: 最滿意是這個黑松露飯,味道很香。份量好像不多,但材料豐富(加了parmesan cheese),容易有飽滿感。整道菜的味道很夾,黑松露的份量剛好,不會整個飯都只有黑松露味,仍品嚐到野菇的香味。

酒單上沒有Sangria,需另外跟店員點。我們點了一渣white sangria,果味很濃,酒味不太重。水果有橙、士多啤梨、蘋果等等。
