We were invited there by a French friend that has been talking about this amazing Italian restaurant since months. As an Italian... I am very skeptical about eating in an Italian restaurant outside of Italy. As an Italian... I am very skeptical about eating in an Italian restaurant outside of Italy. I was completely mistaken. 
Il Moro is without a  doubt the BEST Italian restaurant in Hong Kong. 
The food is cooked in the real Italian traditional way and majority of the ingredients are directly imported from Italy. 
The owner is very friendly and welcoming  but can be seen as a bit  'strange' if you do not know real Sicilians  are;  he is from Sicily;  an island on the southern part of Italy.
Do not ask to add on your plate ingredients that are not supposed to be there based on the typical Italian tradition. 
Let him drive you through an amazing Italian gastronomic experience.

Escobar, the friendly owner sat us down in seconds. The place was buzzing, which is always great. The food was authentic, no fuss italian. The best I have had in Hong Kong. The owner entertains and enthralls throughout the evening, some might find this off putting, to us its all part of the experience. The place had no menus and he merely said, what do you want, fish, pasta, meat, risotto, i can make it all. And make it all he did. We had a delicious antipasta to start, a plate of truffle risott

Service was typically sharp and efficient, mood was great and we left without a hassle. Cash only and 500 a head for this amount of food - You wont find better in HK.

We were actually looking for a restaurant to go into in the Sheung Wan area. Uninspired by what we were seeing as we walked around we eventually chanced upon Il Moro. At the time there were about 7 people in the restaurant: all one party although obvious they were waiting for more and they eventually numbered 15. Despite there being so few people in the restaurant the place was already buzzing and most of the buzz was coming from the waiter/owner/chef.
The plan is simple you pay HK$350 and you get 3 courses and choose your starter(most people will choose the excellent antipasti misti) and then either a pasta/risotto dish or something more substantial like a lamb stew. The meal finishes with a dessert.
Yes it is simple, although the food is very tasty, but do not go along expecting to have a quiet dinner as you will be wasting your time. It will not be a quiet dinner and you will have something more than a dining experience, you will have Il Teatro.
Wines are very good and very cheap for the quality they are. There is also a story with every wine as they are personally imported by the owner.
This is a singular restaurant that many HK diners will not like: it's not a place for shrinking violets. This is a restaurant for people who want to eat good food but have an exciting experience. If sterile restaurants where there is no engagement with the staff is for you then this is not your thing. As it was we had one of our best and most memorable evenings out in HK (been here 4 years).
A great experience. We'll be back.

We went there at around 12 and they are closing but the chef still provided us a nice wine. He kindly picked romantic songs and light for us.The wine tastes pretty good and well worth the price.The environment is also very good.It's a very unique experience in Hong Kong.I'd love to go again

題外話/補充資料: The chef is a really knowledgeable man and i believe it's well worthy to pay a thousand only for the chat.

Four girls went on a Saturday night and ate a very good spread. The set meal was the only option - $400 for two courses. There was lots of variety within the set menu, buffalo salad, cold cuts, or bruschetta for starter; rabbit, snapper fish, lasagne for main Etc. the host and wait or takes you through it all in depth. He's very much. Part of your meal - he cut my good for me at one point - but it's homely, friendly and v Italian.

After hearing so much about this restaurant with the volatile chef, my friend and I decided to give it a try. It was a mistake, as the chef was extremely rude to us the moment we walked in. I asked for butter for my bread and he proceeded to lecture me on why butter is inferior to oil. Hey, I don't need a lesson about how I eat my bread! He seems to have a problem with strong women, as he kept muttering that we should not be dining at his restaurant. When it comes to paying the bill, I presented my credit card, but only to be told off severely - cash only.

Dining at this restaurant is like playing russian roulette. If the chef likes you, great. If not, be prepared to have an very unplesant evening. He chased a French guy out of the restaurant after heaping a string of verbal abuses!

The verdict? There is great Italian food elsewhere and at restaurants that you don't need to feel stressed. Avoid this place.

This is a small and cozy "Trattoria" style Italian restaurant. Overall a very good experience. In a classic Italian style, there is a limited menu, and food is ordered in consultation with the waiter/chef. Upon arriving, we were served a large dish of antipasti - very tasty. 門口的位置有個貨架, 放置了不少Verrigni的意粉, 本來是供客人選擇, 揀好之後就直接去用那包意粉去煮. 不同的款式, 不同的包裝, 一時間也不知如何選擇. 但我們擾攘了一輪之後, Joseph還是幫我們揀了墨汁意粉. 當然, 我們又不懂意大利文, 還是釋出個選擇權吧.

麵包: 先來的是麵包, 熱度對辦, 幾鬆軟, Joseph還特別教我們地道的吃法, 就是在碟上先下橄欖油, 再下點鹽撈一撈, 最後再加橄欖油, 用這碟秘製橄欖油來點麵包, 帶點點鹹味, 特別醒胃.

Antipasto Misto $200: 7分, 除了麵包之外, 一同上臺的還有頭盤, 份量不少. 莎樂美腸鹹香足, 切得夠薄, 質感不俗, 跟麵包同吃是很匹配的. 雅枝竹也有不少, 幾清新的, 質感爽口. 芝士是相當香濃, 剩吃當然可以, 不過用來夾麵包應該更理想. 另外還有番茄, 茴香, 青瓜, 南瓜等等, 是幾清甜的, 熱心的Joseph還幫文迪及Min姐配搭好, 幾款材料夾麵包也是不俗的.

Osso Buco $200: 7分, 主菜方面, 先試的是肉焗牛膝, 焗得火候剛好, 肉質鬆化,最好吃的是帶點肥羔的部份, 不過個汁是相當濃烈, 那份香草味是把肉味完全掩蓋了, 而黑椒也是下得太多了. 另外, 骨髓是不錯的, 油香足, 吃著的時候, 自然想起St. John那道招牌菜, 是晚在Joseph這裡吃到的骨髓, 也是有水準的. 而伴碟的薯蓉吸收了醬汁後是相當香口, 見牛膝黐滿了薯蓉, 相當吸引的樣子, 怎知道總管及Min姐馬上不客氣的吃光了那精華部份, 算吧, 不跟他們爭好了.

香草雞 $150: 6分, 這道菜色在黑板上找不到, 是Joseph的推介. 雞肉配上香草, 洋蔥, 薯仔等等, 但又一次下了非常之多的香草及黑椒, 明白這個是Joseph的風格, 但一連兩道主菜也是相近似的做法, 是有點膩了. 不過跟牛膝比, 雞肉是不太入味, 而薯仔也不夠淋. 還好雞肉還算嫩滑, 配上洋蔥同吃還算可以.

海鮮意粉 $160: 7分, 最後來的是意粉, 就是Joseph一開始幫我們揀的墨汁意粉, 其實意粉的份量不太多, 反而有不少海鮮, 令人喜出望外. 意粉質感只算一般, 偏淋, 咬口欠奉. 不過加入了薑, 是每條意粉也吸收了薑的味道, 又是相當重的味道. 如果不太愛吃薑的朋友, 這道意粉或許就不是你的心頭好了. 反而海鮮是水準不俗, 蝦是幾大隻的, 味道爽甜. 青口也是新鮮貨, 吃落口是幾有鮮味的.

Chocolate Mousse $35: 8分, 最後當然以甜品作結, 是晚的甜品只得一個選擇, 就是朱古力慕絲. 賣相平平無奇, 但想不到是水準之作. 質感不是細滑的那種, 但朱古力味道相當濃烈, 本身是帶點點苦澀味, 但跟底下的紅莓醬同吃就剛好起了平衡的效果. 這客朱古力慕絲, 用上另一種方法去演譯, 值得一試.

整體來講, 食物的水準是平均之上, 不會是非常出色, 但就有濃烈的風味. 服務方面, 店子連Joseph只有3個人, 人手不足, 不過Joseph待客是相當熱情, 令人滿意. 價位方面, 都不知道Joseph是怎樣計算的, 埋單的時候, 他拿著個紅色計數機, 就在我們面前篤一輪之後得出$745這個總數, 由於黑板上沒有意粉及雞的價錢, 究竟他是怎樣算出總數來, 實在不知道. 我上面列出的價位, 只是推算出來的, 還是要假設沒有加一. 無論如何, 每人$186吃得到那麼多菜色, 實是相當經濟的.
