Chachawan是泰麵主理人Adam之前主理的餐廳, 作為澳洲人的他, 玩泰菜的風格並不是Fusion風, 特別是他在Chachawan時期的東北依善泰菜, 到現在亦得以維持. 這種泰菜味道對比大而且濃烈, 而燒烤也是這𥚃的特色, 像是烤豬頸肉的醬料咸而且酸, 配以烤得微焦但內裡肉質依然嫩滑的肉, 是最好的送酒良品. 鹽烤原條鱸魚是這裡的名物, 方法簡單, 但火候控制就成了這道菜成功的關鍵. 至於蟹肉奄列的蟹肉豐富, 蛋煎得脆而較乾身, 蛋身較薄, 和曼谷的Jay Fai比較, 就是差了一點點吧!

在上環荷里活道的Chachawan已經開左好耐,今日約左朋友專程遠水路過黎呢一邊食飯。.我地3個人無訂枱,淨番一張高枱,但坐落都舒服,我地都好鐘意餐廳的每個角落。店面裝潢帶有點懷舊復古的小店。.<Kao Pad>辣炒蒜香通心菜,味道好入味,直頭可以送飯食。<Larp Moo>不能錯過的豬肉生菜包,可揀小中大辣。<Pak Poong Fai Mai Dang>今晚精選:烤鱸魚,未食已經聞到好香,魚肉好鮮好嫩,最好加多杯白酒一齊食。最後仲有芒果沙律,酸酸甜甜幾好味。

We were supposed to go to all day breakfast in nearby, but it was so full and the queue was long. So we decided to try this Thai restaurant nearby. Turn out it was a rare found Gem in Sheung Wan. it definitely is the one of the best Thai food in Hong Kong if not the best. It serves Northen Thai style food. The interior decor is vintage. I would give it a 5-star. The minced pork are well seasoned. very yummy. They give you a lot of cabbage as well.

Khao Pad (fried rice with crab meat)
This is a pretty amazing fried rice. Especially after dripping lime juice and the special thai sauce all over it. It has  a strong favor. I guess the fish sauce plays the magic.

Tom Yum Gai
This is a common dish I have tried a lot but not much restaurant will include fresh herb in the receipt. Only with fresh herbs make the right Tom Yum. But they do it here, both dried and fresh ingredients. We preferred little spiciness. but I think we can go further nexttime - may try medium spiciness.

This is a must try. The chicken skin is crispy and super yummy. The meat was tender. OMG I wanna eat it again. Just so good. No other word needed.

Arriving early in the evening, before the dinner section was opened, we ordered some drinks at the bar section to wait. I had the Thai Lime Mojito ($100) while my wife had the mocktail Longan Nahm ($55). My cocktail included Nusa Cana Rum, lime, Thai basil, mint, soda, and charred sugarcane. With the elements of a mojito but also having the extra spicy note of the Thai basil, it was refreshing and having the right balance of alcohol, sweetness and acidity. It was a nice aperitif while we waited. Soon we were shown to our table. The tables were small and very close to each other, and while it could not be rated as comfortable, it was acceptable in my opinion, and did provide an alternative experience.

We ordered Yum Som O ($148) as starter. It is a pomelo salad, with prawns, deep-fried shallots, cashew nuts, garlic, dry coconut, paired with sweet and sour tamarind dressing. Really good in taste, the salad has a nice mix of sweetness from the pomelo, with some mild spiciness which was highly appetizing, and the crunchy texture provided by the shallots and dry coconut gave a great complement to the prawns and pomelo. Overall a burst of flavours and enjoyment.

Then we had Gai Yung ($158), which were chicken thigh marinated for 24 hours in garlic, pepper and coriander, then grilled till crispy on the skin, and served with jhim jeaw, the Thai chili dipping sauce. Rich in flavours, the chicken got the nice note of the herbs and fish sauce, tender in texture, while having the crisp skin. The dipping sauce was equally impressive imparting a nice supplement to the chicken. Maybe some people would find it a bit salty from the fish sauce but I quite like it.

Another signature dish we had was Pla Phao Glua ($298), the salt-crusted whole seabass stuffed with lemongrass, pandanas and lime leaf, then cooked over fire, and paired with a chili dipping sauce. The fish was quite sizable, with a great fragrance from the stuffed herbs which removed any fishy note. The salt-crusted skin was too salty to be eaten, but giving a nice taste to the moist flesh which was cooked to perfection. My favorite in the evening.

We then ordered two desserts to wrap up. The first was Khao Niaw Mamuang ($95), mango with sticky rice. The mango was decent, not very sweet but retaining a nice acidity to balance the sticky rice, which got a truly luscious coconut milk. To me it was simply too sweet and making it difficult to finish the whole portion.

The other dessert was Ice Cream Guti ($80), with fresh young coconut ice cream served with toasted peanut and sweet corn. Beautifully prepared, the flesh of the young coconut had been peeled out for ease of eating, and the crunchy sweet corn provided a good contrast in texture to the ice cream. Good in taste but again the sweetness was just too daunting.

The restaurant also gave us a complimentary Thai Guava with Chili and Lemongrass Sugar. Even though the fruit was mild in taste, there was a delicate taste which I enjoyed, and you could dip the sugar to provide the interesting additional flavors of chili and lemongrass. First time for me to try those types of sugar, they were special and gave us a nice conclusion for the wonderful meal.

With a bottled water ($60), the total bill on the night was $994. The restaurant did not charge the 10% service charge common in HK, and customers could tip at their discretion. Even though quite high in price and not exactly comfortable on the seats and setting, the food was nicely done. There are bits and pieces that they could improve but I applaud the restaurant for creating a nice evening for us eating some nice dishes from northeast Thailand.

自從三年前男朋友帶我第一次吃了這間餐廳之後,我便徹底的愛上了 這裏的所有菜式都很好味,我每個月都會來一次,持續了三年,三年這類的味道也沒有改變,只是價錢不斷提高哈哈哈 如果價錢沒有調高得很利害我還是會繼續來的啊最好的是泰式奶茶還有燒雞髀配糯米飯

今天選擇了一家泰式的餐廳在上環,聽朋友說很好吃,於是選擇了周一夜晚,人比較不會太多!總共有二層,我們坐在二樓,服務生好像是泰國人聽口音,聽說烤魚非常的好吃pla phao Glua, 所以我們點了pad thai,青木瓜沙啦Som Dtum Goong, 燒雞 Gai yung 跟烤魚❤️❤️❤️首先來的是青木瓜沙拉,有蝦有花生跟番茄,不過真的要注意,非常的辣,第一口吃下去還沒感覺,越吃那辣勁就衝上來,好爽啊👍👍青木瓜的嚼勁搭配沙拉醬,真的是非常順口 9/10 Gai Yung 烤雞,用鹽,香菜,黑胡椒醃了24小時,烤到直到它,脆跟酥,吃這個ㄧ定要搭配它的醬,超正的,雞肉不會太澀,剛剛好!9/10 Pad thai 一直都是我的最愛,一隻大蝦靜坐在盤子上,pad Thai 真的就是在泰國吃過的味道!這pad thai 炒的非常好,有鍋氣 9.5/10結下來就是烤魚,我們等了25分鐘,活生生的一條魚在桌上,旁邊還沾滿了鹽巴,服務生幫我們幫魚皮掀開,白嫩嫩的魚就展現在我們眼前,吃第一口就知道這魚非常新鮮,非常嫩,搭配著醬吃,真的是完美!!隔壁桌看到了,也點了😂😂 結帳下來$800多,不過二個人,

首先來的是青木瓜沙拉,有蝦有花生跟番茄,不過真的要注意,非常的辣,第一口吃下去還沒感覺,越吃那辣勁就衝上來,好爽啊👍👍青木瓜的嚼勁搭配沙拉醬,真的是非常順口 9/10

結下來就是烤魚,我們等了25分鐘,活生生的一條魚在桌上,旁邊還沾滿了鹽巴,服務生幫我們幫魚皮掀開,白嫩嫩的魚就展現在我們眼前,吃第一口就知道這魚非常新鮮,非常嫩,搭配著醬吃,真的是完美!!隔壁桌看到了,也點了😂😂
結帳下來$800多,不過二個人,偶爾吃一下這種餐廳,也是挺不錯挺有情調的

Pomelo Salad with Prawn
That's like a classic for Thai cuisine.
Just pomelo, cashew nut, peanut, prawns, very simple!
Dressing is nice but portion is tiny. It's like 2 prawns cutting into small pieces.

Deep fried Half chicken
Chicken was marinated in fish sauce for whole day.
The chicken is able to stay moist. Skin is crispy enough, the garlic seems too much.
Sauce is just the normal sweet and chilli sauce from a bottle.

Overall speaking, portion of most dishes are quite small.
Note They charge for a bottled water and $30 for jasmine rice.
Quite pricey with 2 drinks 1 beer, we paid $860.

I have eaten there for few times - food is consistently yummy, and it is always busy.  Good thing is that it also opens on Sunday even located in Central district.  Truly although the wait is long, but is always the best Thai food for me in HK. This time we sat at the kitchen bar and see cooks preparing your meal.  The food is quite Hot and so you can ask less spicy.  Must try the skewer, very delicious.  Love the trendy atmosphere with locals and foreign people.  Hot recommendations especially

環境好有氣氛👍🏼,服務員一般,無加一服務費。泰北菜,食物擺設好整齊乾淨,不過有一點真係要留意一下,就係水💧一般侍應都會問你要distilled water 💧 or sparkling water 💧咁我就答左要distilled water 點支佢就攞左一支已開蓋玻璃樽水黎放低,好自然已開蓋的你就會以為係免費,不過見呢樽又唔係普通水,係Scotland威士忌國出嘅水,我就問一問侍應呢支係原裝嘅水定係只係用番個樽入落去嘅普通水,佢答我係原裝水💧⋯⋯我再問要收錢嗎?佢先答要收$60元,無問題的,水💧係靚嘅亦值得,不過如果下次可以原裝俾我自己開,客人一定理解要收費,同埋如果又可以進步啲,可以同客人講聲要收費😊整體上係好,不妨一試👍🏼

叫咗兩杯野飲,但下次再嚟會飲啤酒抵啲,兩杯野啲冰島太多又冇咩特別~

九點幾食完飯出去仲見到有10幾個人等緊,間野真係都幾旺下~坐就唔係坐得特別舒服音樂有好大聲~好似落咗pub咁~不過啲嘢食真係值得推介

同塲見到好多鬼佬叫燒魚,原條上,條魚係鋪滿鹽粒再燒,個皮睇落好脆,揭開塊魚皮有好香嘅檸檬草味(menu寫魚係夾住檸檬草同班蘭葉一齊燒的)~應該都值得一試~

呢間一間食泰國菜但又可以同朋友係門口到飲酒吹水食小食既一間復古懷舊餐廳。店員主要係講英文,餐牌都主要係英文。雞脾扒一定要食,因為佢真係燒到岩岩好,+埋佢個醬汁真係好好味,咬落去好滑,好香。但拎果陣要小心D,因為佢用對木筷夾住個扒燒,所以對木筷係好熱嫁!!!但佢最後送既果果租品真係,好好味,好似係木瓜咁,但佢係勁爽口,配上兩種唔同口味既砂糖,有一個仲要好似係辣辣地嫁TIM!!!但口感同味道出奇地好夾~! 為呢個勁飽既晚餐畫上完美既句號。

One weekday evening, I had around 30 minutes for a quick dinner with a friend. Fast food or noodles weren't really our thing and so we stopped by at Chachawan, which was very packed.The menu was quite clearly presented but there weren't that much choice. The name of the dishes were all in Thai so the descriptions really helped us pick. The overall environment is dark but it also felt quite cozy. Nahm Dtak Nuer $142

This spicy grilled wagyu beef salad came quickly, and the portion seemed small and disappointing in the first place. The taste was wonderful - with shallots, coriander, mint, lime, fish sauce & toasted rice dressing. It's not anything ordinary that you would find in another restaurant easily. It was immediately thought to be totally worth of its price.

The chicken thighs came shortly after. It looked pretty well grilled and it really was! It was crispy outside and still juicy and tender inside. It was served with jhim jaew, which was a thai dried chilli dipping sauce. The sauce wasn't too spicy to me but it was very interesting and refreshing. I'm not a big fan of meat and poultry but I finished my portion in no time. It was delicious.

It was a quick and casual dinner for us and we didn't get any drinks but just asked for some water. Not sure if it had contributed to the limited service we received that night. Overall, I still had a pleasant experience here as the food was outstanding. I would plan to visit again if I were nearby, but probably with a reservation and ordering more different dishes to try.
