正式進入正題,當然要首選這裡的薄切和牛肉。

這款菜式起用了澳洲和牛肉眼,薄切成絲般幼細後,再放入黑松露汁、磨菇片和火箭菜。特別喜歡菜式的面頭灑滿了合桃碎,吃落不但多了果仁的香味,就連口感也變得極度豐富,味道一試難忘。

接着是鎮店之寶香辣粗管通粉配伏特加忌廉汁。自家製的粗管狀通粉特別經過半風乾處理,令嚼勁更強,配以秘製的伏特加甜椒蕃茄忌廉汁和少許辣椒,口感又香又滑,演繹近乎完美。

主菜本來應試美式意菜的經典菜式 - 巴馬臣芝士小牛肉,不過為免這餐吃得太多牛肉,因此改點了黑毛豬扒配雜椒和炆洋蔥絲。

黑毛豬扒差不多有兩人份量,經慢煮後再燒至七至八成熟,中心還保持少許的粉紅色。

雖然賣相不夠之前兩道菜的亮麗,但豬扒的味道也相當鮮美,而且肉質嫩滑。個人最欣賞的是不太濃的焦香,但脂肪位置有點太多是唯一的美中不足。

甜品的時間終於來臨,侍應推着甜品車朝着我們的方向而來,望見車上的紅蘿蔔合桃蛋糕、tiramisu、朱古力蛋糕等款款都一樣吸引,在正常的情況下又豈能不心動?

不過兩小時前才剛剛完成了 ATUM 的 Improvisation,因此對甜品的意慾暫且不算太強,還是決定擇日重賽吧。

看過不少網上的報導都以美式「紅醬」意菜這個形容詞來形容 Carbone,感覺就好像以「豉油餐廳」來形容一間本地西餐廳一樣,似乎有點褒貶的意思。

但經過今次個人驗證之下,發覺這些用詞原來全是個簡單的笑話,Carbone 的菜式實在是做得出神入化,倘若是美式「紅醬」意菜的話,亦必定是升級版。

近幾個月一直在忙,晚出晚歸的生活跟早睡早起的爸爸完全時間不合,每個星期都只有一天能真的見到他,跟他談話。適逢下週是爸的生日,剛剛的周末便提早關店,與美祿請爸媽妹吃飯,提前慶祝爸的生日。還未點菜便上來蒜蓉包、火腿和Parmesan Cheese。蒜蓉包香脆而絲毫不油膩不鹹,跟鹹香微辛的火腿和Parmesan Cheese十分匹配。用來打頭陣實在能先予人好印象。漂亮的繪花瓷碟美祿的Margarita($138)和我的Mai Tai($138),這裡的Margarita用橙和玉桂所製,我覺得怪怪的,不太喜歡。相反我的Mai Tai加入了Almond liqueur,果味中滲入杏仁味道,有趣有趣。頭盤先來Carpaccio Piemontese($168),生和牛薄片上有黑松露薄片、火箭菜和核桃。一同放入口,和牛脂香溢滿囗腔,和牛肉本身帶鹹,添上黑松露香和果仁香後變得豐富又清新多了。Baked clams($198),蜆小小的但肉還好,沒有縮成很小的一片。三款口味分別有以麵包糠和香草焗製的、有以麵包糠和煙肉焗製的及加上了海膽的。每一款都是平實的可口。Lobster Ravioli($248)龍

Lobster Ravioli($248)龍蝦肉與自家製意大利雲吞,份量剛好五片夠我們一人一片。忌廉汁加了Vermouth酒和香草,味道跟一般的不一樣。可是整體就只是還好而已,說不上讓人眼前一亮。

Spicy Rigatoni Vodka($198)是網上許多人激讚的一道。看上去平平無奇,但入口那濃稠香口的醬汁實叫人著迷。Calabrian為辣味來源,加上蕃茄和洋蔥作平衡,醬汁辣而不會讓人吃後感口渴難受,確實很不錯。

Ribeye Diana($478),和牛肉眼炭烤過後搭上pancetta 意大利煙肉和菇片,再澆上以蕃茄、洋蔥和香草等製成的Cacciatore汁。肉眼扒超級軟嫩,入口油香便化開來。連我不太愛吃肉,也十分推薦這牛扒。

Potatoes Louie($88) 用上煎炒焗煮皆宜的yukon gold馬鈴薯,配上鴨油和蒜,香氣十足而味道不重,跟我們點的肉眼扒好搭配,簡單便是一道美味的配菜。

訂位時表明了是慶祝生日的,所以侍應便插了蠟燭在Chocolate cake($108)上,還要一邊唱生日歌一邊送上來,爸也開心得笑逐顏開。朱古力蛋糕味道濃郁不太甜,鬆軟的配上旁邊的朱古力雪糕,更是濕潤甜美。

Tiramisu($108)做成蛋糕一般的,手指餅比例上比芝士層多。手指餅酒味過重,但吃不出咖啡味來。芝士層也因太薄,風頭被手指餅全蓋過,軟滑與否都影響不大。

New York Lemon Cheese($108),我家的人都是芝士蛋糕愛好者,幾乎每遇芝士蛋糕便點。這客檸檬口味的紐約芝士蛋糕質感十分柔滑細緻,近乎入口即融。芝士味濃厚,檸檬味恰好到位。是全晚我最喜歡的一樣。

我們六時半入座,餐廳指明在九時前要交還桌子,是合理充裕的時間限制。環顧四周滿滿都是客人,但九成都是外國人。侍應風趣幽默,逗得我們很開心。餐廳背景一直播放著七八十年代的歌曲,加上昏黃的燈光,氣氛實在輕鬆。食物雖選擇不多但都是精心設計的經典菜式,沒有誇張自己所用食材,只是做好每一個細節而不花巧。定價不低但是叫人滿意的一頓晚餐。

Carpaccio Piemontese $168 which I LOVED! I really liked the texture actually. It’s different…a bit more on the chewy side, but I really liked the arugula leaves and thinly sliced mushrooms that came with it! Beware…its a big serving!

Mario’s Meatballs $168 The meatballs were one of their signatures and it was pretty good! The meat was soft, tender and flavourful! But by this point- I was pretty full!
But we had SO much more food to come! The side portion is HUGE. Its really American-sized….and the main is just as big!

Sides: Charred Broccoli $78..mmmm! So sad because we barely touched the sides and the main-we asked to to-go it, but ended up not taking it by accident! But honestly…its cause our food wasn’t packed or brought out! So, not entirely our fault we didn’t bring it back..sigh.

Beautifully cooked! I’m not the biggest fan of lamb..but these babies were nicely done. Absolutely tender, succulent and juicy. The lamb meat were nicely seasoned and quite lean with just the right amount of fat. But soooo sad….we wasted it!! :/ We asked for it to be packed…but I don’t know- they forgot to bring it out, and we forgot to ask them for it again!
Dessert Wine! Overall I really enjoyed it. Service was friendly and nice. Food was hearty and good…its a nice spot for some good ol’ hearty Italian cooking…and its in the heart of LKF…perfect way to kick off a night of drinking and partying! ;)

Carbone is a great restaurant.It is a busy place, we went a few weeks ago and had a reservation at 9pm. Still had to wait over 15 mins.I won't bore you with nonsense. Here are the facts:1) The meatballs are excellent.2) The pastas are excellent, especially the vodka penne. This is a must try.3) The lamb was excellent. Do try these for yourself if you are interested.Great friendly service too.

3) The lamb was excellent.

The food is not going to be fine or delicate but meant to be more like comfort food with heavy flavors. Baked Clams ($198) - the baked clams were amazing with 3 kinds of flavor: oreganata with breadcrumbs, casino with bacon and pepper and fantasia with sea urchin. I loved all of the different pairings but I have to say that my favorite was the casino with bacon and pepper. [4.5/5]

Octopus Pizzaiolo ($188) - loved the octopus in this dish as it had been caramelized so you get a slightly crunchy sensation with a mildly sweet taste as you bite into it. One of the best way to eat an octopus for sure! [4.5/5]

Double Lamb Chops ($428) - the lamb chops were carved in front of us but the portion was rather small for the hefty price. They had recommended medium rare for the lambs which turned out to be wonderful as the meat was plump and juicy with natural and subtle flavors. I would have preferred just a bit more flavors so I'd probably go for the Veal Parmesan next time. [4/5]

Carrot Cake ($108) - while the accompanying ginger ice cream was yummy, the carrot cake lacked flavors of carrot (of all things) while the cake was dry and dense as well. Didn't taste like a carrot cake actually. [2.5/5]

Banana Flambe ($128) - finally the show we were all waiting for! The bananas were prepared in front of us with a flaming show and all. The result? A not so photogenic dessert actually with a melting pot of almond ice cream, chocolate cake and bananas. So simple and yet so good. I would probably only order this for the show but skip this in lieu of the cheesecake if you have to choose though. [4/5]

Verdict - solid food with high price tags that would prevent us from dropping by this restaurant more often than we'd like. It's great for big groups since the American-sized portions are perfect for sharing. Bring a jacket though as the AC was on full blast and we left with popsicles as arms.
