Been hearing so many mixed reviews about the newly opened Bluhouse located at the Rosewood Hong Kong. Finally gave it a try to see what the hype is all about! Pic 1️⃣&2️⃣: Assorted Mini Pastry Selection from the Vitrine (4 pieces)- $188 hkd (prices have increased significantly! during my visit in mid July it was priced at $110 for 4.) 🍰 — Can’t deny that their pastry counter is every dessert lovers dream, the sheer variety they offer is quite impressive! However, it does look better than it tastes.

Pic 1️⃣&2️⃣: Assorted Mini Pastry Selection from the Vitrine (4 pieces)- $188 hkd (prices have increased significantly! during my visit in mid July it was priced at $110 for 4.) 🍰
— Can’t deny that their pastry counter is every dessert lovers dream, the sheer variety they offer is quite impressive! However, it does look better than it tastes. The flavours were quite one dimensional and lacking richness. My favourite among the few was the lemon tart which had a nice sweetness to it balanced by the tanginess.


Pic 3️⃣: Rigatoni alla Carbonara - $210 hkd 🍝
— This was pretty good but a bit too peppery in my opinion, masking the cheesy/eggy flavour. The pasta had a nice chew and was cooked to a perfect al dente. Really loved the crispy pancetta bits which added a nice smoky, salty flavour to the dish.


Pic 4️⃣: Parmigiana Pizza - $88 hkd 🍆
— Pizza base was quite dry as it was simply reheated from their deli counter. The toppings were tasty but nothing spectacular.


Pic 5️⃣: Porchetta Pizza - $98 hkd 🐷
— Even drier than the parmigiana pizza. The base was crunchier than a cracker 😅 The pizza itself is also quite dry and lacks a saucy element to it. The flavours in this are very interesting though, think Spanish cochinillo but on a pizza 😂 It’s also quite salty.


Pic 6️⃣: Half Rotisserie Chicken (Diavola) - $268 hkd 🐓
— Was warned that this was going to be spicy but I couldn’t taste any spice at all 😂The chicken itself was alright, meat was tender and quite juicy but the marinade was way too salty.


Pic 7️⃣: Arancino - $95 hkd
— Good to munch on whilst waiting for the mains. Flavours were nice and smoky, nicely deep fried and the cheese filling really gave it a nice flavour.


Pic 8️⃣: Tiramisù - $98 hkd
— Pretty good but way too sweet for me. The mascarpone was smooth and light, and the ladyfingers were adequately soaked in coffee and liqueur. Love that its nice and cold too.


Overall rating:
😋Taste: Food is slightly underwhelming for the price tag and definitely expected more from the Rosewood restaurants considering how good their other restaurants have been.
— Great as a grab&go spot but would opt for their other restaurants for a sit down meal.
📍Ambiance: casual eatery vibes, tables are quite small though. The dining room might be a better option for a nice sit down meal.
⭐️Would visit again?: Try once

I was looking forward to this restaurant for quite awhile now and was disappointed on so many levels.<br>1. The door to the alfresco dining was opened and cigarette smoke was drifting into the indoors area.2. Waitstaff was walking in all directions and was very busy visually. High visibility of all the dirty dishes. I’d describe service as a weird mix of “fine dining” and casual so basically half-assed.3. It was dark and loud.4. 4. The stuffed zucchini flower used the wrong batter or something. It was thicccccc, akin to corndog batter. Wasn’t delicate at all and shaped like a mango. LOL. $95.
5. The porchetta bianco pizza or whatever was really and rubbery. 7”x5”. $98.
6. No tap water. Either $100 bottled or this weird sustainable Norway water that had a acrid taste, like flat sparkling water. $30 pp.
7. Ossobuco was tough. $280.
8. Eclair coffee icing was too sweet. $35.
9. Octopus salad was meh. $210.

Too bad I didn’t take any photos. I could’ve retold the story of the zucchini flowers with visuals n times over. Unbelievable. Ended up being $500 pp. Don’t go.

Let me tell you my day. My family and I went to a buffet restaurant for lunch and we were very full, so we decided to go shopping in k11. After a while, we got tired and decided to go to Starbucks for a cup of coffee. On the way to Starbucks, we saw this new restaurant and decided that instead of going to Starbucks, why not try this one out? Reception – the receptionist tried to be polite at first but when I requested for a good seat, she sighed loudly as if I’m being a Karen for simply asking for a good seat. I wished she remained professional because we only interacted for less than a minute and I’m surprised that she cannot be polite for a little longer than a minute.

Atmosphere – It was VERY surprising to notice that the place was too noisy! The interior was really good, but it was very loud. I guess all the guests had to shout because you can’t hear each other from the noise.

Service – After we ordered our coffee, they removed all the plates, utensils and table napkins because we only ordered drinks. Why did they have to remove the table napkins and they didn’t even replace it with tissue? Our table was sooo bare. nothing was there. It’s like we are not even in a classy place. Why would you remove the table napkins? Are we not allowed to use one if we are not gonna order main course?!

Taste – Here is the TOTAL letdown. The hot drinks were served cold. HOW? How did this happen???? I don’t understand how this simple mistake can happen in this level of establishment.

Because the drinks were served cold, we finished our drinks in record time and we immediately left. I cannot stand to be there for long because of the noise and the disappointment.

We came sharp at 6pm and were seated in the middle facing the large windows looking out to the waterfront and Victoria Harbour. The restaurant reminded me of a dining hall, with different counter sections showcasing antipasti, pizza, pasta, cheese, and secondi. The décor created a relaxing, casual and lively ambience, bringing customers to the streets of Italy.

The restaurant introduced the Nordaq system to provide filtered water ($30 each, free flow) as a way to reduce shipping bottled water from overseas. We also ordered a Watermelon Fizz ($100) and Peppermint Tea ($52) to start. My mocktail was very refreshing and served as a good aperitif to start the meal.

Ordering two starters, the Octopus Salad ($210) was perhaps the most popular choice. Surprised by the big portion, the thick tentacles of the octopus were tasty and soft, with good bite but not rubbery. Together with some Bella di Cerignola olives, the biggest table olives in the world, chopped basil and extra virgin olive oil, I also like the acidity in the seasoning as well.

The Italian Cold Cuts ($280) was certainly a big platter of different types. With limited knowledge, I could only identify Salami, aged Finocchiona, Prosciutto, Pancetta, Mortadella, and the spicy Salsiccia, together with some green and brown olives. These were nice, and the portion was good for three to four people, it was a bit overwhelming for the two of us, but we managed to finish them.

We also had the Braised Beef Cheek ($280), as recommended by the staff. Very tender, I could use a spoon to cut it open, with the beef cheek infused with the great flavours from the root vegetable and red wine sauce. The latter was so good I would like to have some spaghetti to mix with, to savour every last drop of the delicious wonders.

Decided to order a slice of pizza, we chose Tonno Pizza ($90), with tuna, red onion, Pantelleria capers which are famous for its sweetness and aromas, heirloom tomato, and fresh basil. This pizza was very good, especially the crunchy pizza base, with its texture one of the best I had tasted in town. The staff had helpfully cut the pizza in halves for us to share too.

For dessert, my wife had Tiramisu ($88), with the recipe having a bit of twist, including ladyfinger, espresso, eggnog zabaione, and dark cocoa. I had the Venchi 2 Flavour ($59) instead, choosing the Pineapple Sorbet and Brutto & Buono Gelato. In fact, a wide range was available, and going out to take a look at the counter was like visiting an ice-cream parlour which brought joy to my young heart.

Wrapping up with a Double Espresso ($45), the staff perhaps misunderstood me and got a cup for each of us, so I ended up finishing four shots. Fortunately, I was well-trained on caffeine and did not affect my sleep on the night. Service was very good, with the staff friendly and happy, making you feel at home and relaxing. The bill was $1,440 and I can now see why this place has become such a popular spot for people vying for a place to enjoy some nice food in a casual manner, without having to break the bank.

平日晚上8點後,都唔算滿,但友人都有訂位。見到好多KOL推介,好想試兩個 pasta,第一個係 carbonara,第二個係 ravioli。但原來呢度分左 bluhouse 同 dining room,但openrice沒有特別說。Ravioli 是dining room 才有的菜式,唯有等8月開放10月booking,看看能否訂,新開張,很爆滿。跟朋友選了outdoor 位置,但很難得到服務,被遺棄,可能太多客人,或時間太晚,又漏單,食完主菜先黎starter,都很一般。唯一令我期待是甜品,會令我返去再食就係好多款既甜品

Environment
The dining hall, imbued with pastel hues and mosaic tiles, resembles buzzing yet laid-back ambience of Italy plazas. Anchored with various food counters, diners may causally saunter around to the deli, pizza, rostocceria or dessert stations to select food which looks aesthetically pleasing and inviting.

Pizza Al Taglio
The dish that stood out for the night was their Pizza Al Taglio, a rectangular pizza originated from Rome. Filled with irregularly-sized holes, the dough was chewy and tender in equal measures with an audible crisp on each bite. The tomato-based pizza, Diavola, packed a spicy and tangy punch. It was topped with oozy agerola cheese which balanced and toned down the spiciness of the Nduja; and finished with fresh basils. The other bianche Guanciale pizza we ordered was hands down the BEST pizza I’ve ever eaten. Topped with rashers of cured pork jowl, caramelized onions with crispy brown edges and earthy mushrooms, it was the ultimate savory delicacy. All of us literally squealed with delights while devouring the perfect pizza.

Octopus Salad
The octopus salad was not among the most tender ones I’ve had, but I actually liked how it was slightly chewy and firm to the bite. Bella di cerignola olives carried a milder astringency, with its vinegar brine making the dish a perfect whet for our meal.

Carbonara
Carbonara is definitely the calling card of BluHouse. Chef Giovanni Galeota switched up several widely popular ingredients in the recipe by using Pecorino instead of Parmesan; and Guanciale instead of Pancetta. Being a sheep’s and younger cheese, Pecorino is smoother and less crumbly in texture; grassier and less nutty in taste. The use of a milder cheese allowed the guanciale to take the limelight. The crisped-up golden cubes of guanciale nuggets were juicy, robust and umami-filled due to heftier fat content than pancetta. The perfectly al dente rigatonis were slicked with a luscious concoction of Pecorino cheese, rendered Guanciale fat and yolk. Other than the rigatoni that tasted slightly floury and starchy, everything was on point.

Lasagna
The ruffled pasta sheets were filled with layers of oozing creamy cheese. It was cooked slightly unevenly, with the pasta sheets at the edges being perfectly al-dente, but a bit mushy at the center. But we loved the fruity tang of the bolognese.

Porchetta
This was an insanely fragrant dish. The beauty of it lies within the contrasting textures. Being cured with herbs and salt, the flesh was tender, moist, and bursted with aroma. Sandwiched between the flesh and the bubbly, crackling skin is a thick layer of buttery, melt-in-the-mouth fat. With the golden crisped-up potatoes that soaked up all the unctuous essences, the dish was sinfully addictive.

Tiramisu
Tiramisu at BluHouse has the most balanced flavor and texture profiles among the ones I had at Grissini, Pici and Cannubi recently. Cannubi’s alcoholic element was mild, which was overpowered by cocoa powder and mascarpone, while Grissini’s was quite heady. Pici’s one has a firmer and creamier consistency, which I found a little heavy. BluHouse hits the trifecta with the best balance, texture and taste.

Assorted pastry
The selection was vast and we enjoyed choosing from rows of pastries at the display counters. We recommend the chocolate hazelnut cannelloni and their gianduja pastries.

Verdict:
BluHouse makes for an excellent choice for an after work get-together with its laid-back ambience and profusion of food. The dishes we sampled, especially the pizzas were authentic and delectable. With a little rejig in their services, it will surely become a widely popular dinner destination.

Good Lunch for 8. 一行8人的午餐,食物質素佳,環境舒適,服務到位.可以再來.We got 2 teenagers who loved the Pizza 🍕😋. It's a good portion too.We all enjoyed the Veal and Lasagna very much. I'm very picky about Lasagna and usually prefer to cook my own. I liked it. From now on if I'm too lazy to make it myself I know where to go for it. The main point is that they used the right amount of cheese and meat and not being cheap on the quality or quantity. Well done. I hope they won't change the recipe later.The desserts are

We all enjoyed the Veal and Lasagna very much. I'm very picky about Lasagna and usually prefer to cook my own. I liked it. From now on if I'm too lazy to make it myself I know where to go for it. The main point is that they used the right amount of cheese and meat and not being cheap on the quality or quantity. Well done. I hope they won't change the recipe later.
The desserts are good too. Love the tart base which makes the difference!

Love Blu House designed especially in the afternoon was bright and comfortable. Pizza were delicious, Margherita Pizza was the best tomato was high quality highly recommend. Diavola was too spicy. Mortadella pizza was nice. Lobster pasta was delicious but served only half lobster price $380 a bit expensive. Lasagna was good. Rotisserie chicken salt and rosemary was delicious. Mocktails-Watermelon Fizz was nice. Desserts and ice cream are delicious.

Visiting BluHouse for the first time, hard to book a table and had certain expectations, given that it’s a hotel restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was below average and just not up to par. Overrated and service was disappointing. The pasta was tough, and the sauce wasn’t able to fully immerse into the dish.Pizza was not tasting as fresh as it could be, which is disappointing, the taste was weak and bland. Visiting BluHouse for the first time, hard to book a table and had certain expectations, given that it’s a hotel restaurant.

Unfortunately, the food was below average and just not up to par. Overrated and service was disappointing.

The pasta was tough, and the sauce wasn’t able to fully immerse into the dish.

Pizza was not tasting as fresh as it could be, which is disappointing, the taste was weak and bland.

Told my server that certain food item was not good and got told this is ‘our style’. Wouldn’t even ask the chef to take a second look. Just really don’t think this place is good at all.

At the end, lunch was about HK$500 per person, below average food, and just poor value for money.
