蘿蔔糕乃新春期間不可或缺的糕點，今年繼續光顧了美心品牌。一打開袋子，感覺上好像比往年的細底了些，不過料子還是甚多。我們半蒸半煎，出來的果然不太夠喉。蘿蔔糕依然粉少料多，不管是蒸或是煎的都不用花太多時間。糕身粉的比例很到位，挺而不硬；蘿蔔夠多，但不會流於太水。餡料方面，臘腸、蝦米、瑤柱皆不會太油或是太膩，同時可能份量少，吃完都絕不會過份的飽滯。兩種翻熱的方法，小人認為蒸的較煎的好食；皆因雖然煎的較為香口，然而始終蒸的蘿蔔糕更能吃出它的鮮甜味。吃完糕，來一杯熱普洱濃茶最好不過。

今次試美心的黑魔王森林蛋糕, 它存在已久但首次嚐試。又是很有層次的蛋糕, 除朱古力蛋糕外, 還有忌廉, 朱古力慕絲和海鹽焦糖脆脆, 蛋糕外面更舖有醇厚朱古力薄片。喜出望外的是, 看似普通的內層, 卻令人清晰的食出不同口感和味道, 整體非常很搭配呢！忌廉幼滑不膩, 蛋糕的鬆軟, 朱古力慕絲那奶凍般Q彈但又不失軟滑的口感, 甜酒車厘子醬的香甜味道和薄焦糖脆脆的鬆脆, 都在這個小小的蛋糕內充份發揮出來。特別是那濃濃的車厘子醬的甜香味道和海鹽焦糖味, 令人一再回味。下次不買迷你版, 買一個標準版就對了！

I love Star Wars so when I saw this new series of pudding cups from Maxim's I had to go get them. The last series featured Darth Vader and stormtrooper. But this series is focused on the BB8 aand R2D2. Each pudding cup is $42. Adding $38, you can purchase a plate with the droids on it.As I had many cake certificates, I decided to use two of them to purchase the pudding cups.This is BB8. It was a bit bigger in size than I would have expected.The pudding was milk flavor. I wasn't too keen on it. It tasted like this strange condensed milk flavor. It also had a weird spongy texture as it was a mousse.R2D2, I felt, looked better designed.This had chocolate flavor pudding and I felt it tasted a lot better. It had a nice rich chocolate taste and was rather smooth in texture.I also bought the two plates. Only purchasable for $38 if you buy a pudding cup.

It was grandma's birthday 2 weeks ago, and for her birthday, we usually have lunch at her place, and after lunch, we'd have the birthday cake because she'd usually have the Chinese birthday buns at dinner.This year, my aunt was the one who bought the cake. We know that grandma doesn't really care for cakes that are too sweet, so my aunt chose a seasonal chestnut cake from Maxim's.There's more chestnut than cake in the chestnut cake. It was covered with chestnut cream and chestnut puree, and it had a chestnut cream filling between the thin cake layers. The chestnut puree and cream were smooth and not dry. Chestnut cakes can be quite filling, so the size of this cake was just right for the eight of us to share. For the price of $168, Maxim's makes a pretty good chestnut cake.
