Generally speaking, I only write food reviews when I have a great experience, when I've found a restaurant that I think others really ought to try. I normally don't think it's worth the time to write such negative feedback about a restaurant but think I'll have to make an exception.
I came here one evening, wandering in randomly while walking on Ladies Street in Mongkok. The storefront looked half decent, and with the advertisements of ramen at the front door , I thought I'd give it a chance.
I ordered a ramen set ($74) - black garlic cha siu ramen, with chicken karaage on the side (+$15), and it came with a drink.
After quite a long wait, the chicken karaage arrived, carelessly plated and completely soaked and dripping in oil. I really don't know how it's possible to make something so oily, perhaps they tried to cook it by soaking in lukewarm oil..?? I must say it must be among the worst chicken karaage I've ever had.
The ramen arrived, I would call it "just ok" at the very best.
As for the overall atmosphere, the restaurant was run by two young men, who looked disorganized and disinterested. The restaurant itself was not very clean , the tables sticky with a fruit fly crawling around enjoying the stickiness.
It really disappoints me when someone would go thru the exorbitant expenses of opening a restaurant in Hong Kong and then allow it to serve such mediocre food.
If you want to eat noodles in Mong Kok, I suggest you just go to the Tsui Wah next door, or one of the many local fish ball noodle shops nearby. I assure you you will feel more satisfied that way, at half of the cost.
