By submitting this review, I’m likely joining the line of ill-wishers trying to take a vicious stab at Azumma’s already tarnished rating… The evening started off uneventful enough. The evening started off uneventful enough. We were waiting in line at another Korean restaurant on Kimberly Street. The line was long, so a few of us decided to try our luck at another restaurant, and we stumbled across Azumma… We asked for a table of five, and the woman there told us there’s one that just opened, but we would need to have our party ready. I said no problem, and called my friends about our unbelievable luck.
That’s when disaster struck… after about 30 seconds, the woman saw my party still hasn’t arrived, and GAVE THE TABLE TO OTHER PEOPLE!!! By then my friends have left the other restaurant, and she promptly gave me a ticket – despite my pleas that my friends were ON THE SAME STREET - and she said another table of five was just about finished…. it wasn’t…
We waited another 15 minutes for a table… I was already very annoyed and JUST before we sat down the woman at Azumma told us that (i) we actually only have 40 minutes to eat at her restaurant so we really should think abt it before we go in; and (ii) we can only order once (cos otherwise we would out-stay our 40 minutes of hospitality).
We decided to go in. It was either that or waiting in line (again) at another restaurant. To be fair, I have little recollection of the food, except that it wasn’t anything special. I do vividly remember their service though, and I’m never going there again.
Restaurant-hunters beware….
