I've dined here once before about 2 years ago, the food was pretty good as I vaguely recalled, but there was room for improvement then. Now the menu is quite different and the food is more than sumptuous, there is more of an Asian twist now than before. We ordered the $438pp set dinner, and the restaurant threw in a complimentary seared flounder sushi as appetizer which was a fantastic way to start off the feast. Then we were greeted with homemade crab cake and a coconut milk fish slaw which were quite tasty.The seafood bisque was thick with crabmeat, scallop and prawn I thought the grilled lamb was a pleasant surprise (as I am not a lamb lover), meat was juicy and tender and skin was crispy, and it didn'y have the typical gamy taste of lamb.The fried rice was to die for! My first visit here hosted by a close friend. I was impressed by the ambience and the decor which is very hip and festive. Food is definitely nouveau Thai with Thai names - like we would understand what the dish names mean, haha! It's great place for young people who want to see and be seen. The ingredients used are quite exotic, such as heart of palm, banana blossom, ginger betel leaves. The recipes are very interesting but the the taste of some dishes is really not that impressive. A friend hosted a dinner for 5 of us at this much talked about venue in late 2012. The place wasn't full yet when we arrived but it quickly filled up.The ricotta cheese wrapped in a layer of raw salmon with seawater emulsion had to be one of the most stunning presentations, the few golden salmon eggs on top were a perfect touch!The tuna tartar with parmesan croutons on top was another winner My friend ordered the snails that came with baguette and a cream which was also good - but it reminds me more of French cuisine than Italian The roasted scallops with only cooked medium well as the chef insisted, so we complied.Crispy red mullet was a bit tough, but the scorpion fish concentrate in a bouillabaisse helped somewhatI am a sucker for pasta so when this spaghetti dish arrived at the table I was excited. The clam morsels were tender and were nicely complemented by the capers.The tortelli stuffed with lagoustine filling coupled with the foie gras cream sauce was a delight though a bit rich and heavy.All and all it was a truly fine dining experience. This is my third visit to this bistro, the atmosphere as well as the food keep me coming back again and again. A couple of my friends at this dinner have also eaten here before and their impression of this bistro is also quite positive.I was the only one who ordered a soup - baked onion soup with cheddar cheese. It was full of sweet onion and I have a weakness for the melted cheese on top of onion soup. The soup was so rich I was practically half full after finishing it.My friend ordered the silver cod filet served on a bed of tomatoes in a prawn jus. The cod was very tender and the basil prawn jus was a nice complement to the fish.The Fregola pasta Bottarga style was a new experience for me, Bottarga is a Sardinian recipe for pasta using cured fish roe - exotic and unusual. The sea urchin emulsion was a daring addition which blended well with the pasta. It's probably not for everyone as sea urchin and cured fish roe are not widely craved by some of the people I know. nevertheless I thought it was the most inspiring dish of the evening.The grilled beef tenderloin was cooked just right - very tender and juicy. But it was nothing special according to my friend who ordered it.The lobster penne pasta was quite good, fresh lobster pieces and tasty penne. Coconut milk?
