First time visit today for lunch.The set-lunch menu was very confusing for me because the layout was quite strange and I can only understand a few chinese characters. The waiter was very kind though and helped to explain the menu. There are four sections to the set menu. In section 2 they had a choice of different meats and sauces served with rice. I chose fish fillet with yellow curry sauce. The set lunch also comes with a free hot drink. The curry itself was delicious, the fish fillet was very surprising as it was cooked to perfection. Grilled rather than deep fried so felt much lighter than some of the other fish curries I've had previously!Overall the level of service was very good and the price is also quite reasonable - $33. Ignore any negative reviews, this restaurant is da bomb!. We love it!! It's our favourite restaurant in Wan Chai, maybe even in Hong Kong! We usually come here at least once a month and we always bring visitors here on their first night!Atmosphere is very local - noisy but entertaining! Can be very "cosy" - Better to come in a group of people so that you don't have to share your table with strangers. Waiters are very friendly and helpful especially if you're willing to try some putonghua out - they love it! The aircon is probably the coldest in Hong Kong though so make sure you pack some thermals!!From reading other reviews and observation at the restaurant I think westerners may get a different menu but it doesn't bother me as you can still ordersome pretty tasty dishes. We usually order; 10 pieces xiao long bao (steamed pork bun in a bite of 10) gotta love the chinglish menu. I noticed a guy complain that his xiao long bao didn't have enough soup in. Trust me any more soup in these bad boys and you'd burn your tounge off permanently! Super tasty! Braised fish in chilli sauce (No idea what type of fish, think type and price changes with whats available at the market so this dish can end up a little pricey but it always tastes divine!) Chicken with cashews. Does what it says on the tin, very tasty. minced pork and tofu/bean curd in chilli sauce. Best dish on the menu in my opinion and I usually hate tofu!! Egg fried rice baby bok choi vegetables (we usually ask for this to be served with that thick dark sauce think it's called hoi sin?)I'm afraid to say that I haven't tried the dan dan noodles here yet. OK, So you're probably not going all the way to Ham Tin just to sample the cusine. :) It's not even as if you have a huge choice of restaurant once you get there. But, let's just assume you "happen" to be at Ham Tin and you fancy a bite to eat. Then like me you'll probably be pretty grateful that this restaurant does pretty mean tasty food. So the boyf decided to treat me to a nice meal out at this french style restaurant located at the back of Wan Chai.I have to admit I was a little bit dubious as most of the french style restaurants nearby that are run by locals have turned out to be appaling; bland and bad value for money. However this french style restaurant is better than many others that I have tried recently in HK. First appearances are good, attractive front and authentic looking interior. We were presented with a set menu option (three courses including choice of two appertisers, choice of two soups and choice of three mains for 200-300HKD pp) as well as the main menu. The menu was well presented and varied and obviously been written by someone who had actually been to france, which helps. The boyf and I weren't feeling very hungry so we decided to share a set meal (terrine salad, mushroom soup and steak) and a goats cheese salad.The goats cheese salad was AMAZING. Although you only get three small slices of goats cheese they are melted to perfection. The taste of the goats cheese was much stronger than I had ever tasted before but this only added to its appeal. I possibly wouldn't have served the goats cheese salad with the dressing that was used but it was quite light in flavour and didn't detract at all from the dish. The terrine was very tasty also although again I possibly would have preferred it with some bread and chutney rather than salad as the flavour of the leaves and the terrine didn't compliment quite so well as with the goats cheese.The Mushroom soup was also amazing. I don't usually like mushroom soup as it can be quite heavy but this soup was very different, it had a subtle onion flavour which balanced out the mushroom quite well.The steak (cooked rare) was also very tasty and came served with a small but yet quite varied assortment of side vegetables, though by the time we reached the end of the main course we were well and truly full!The house red, a bordeaux, was not bad either and went down very well!The service was a little average for such an expensive restaurant, I would normally expect a bit more attention from the waiter. However he did bring us an extra side plate and cutlery for the main course without having to tell him that we were sharing and he didn't do too bad a job of pronouncing all the dishes in a french accent. …查看更多

For my first ever visit to a popeyes restaurant I was pleasantly surprised. First appearances aren't great; the entrance and food ordering counter is dimly lit and uninviting and the meal photos are extremely unappetising. However I decided to give the place a go, even though I was expecting yet another tasteless fastfood experience. What I got, whilst not exceptional, did definitely surpass my expectations.I ordered a 2 piece mild chicken combo set which came with a drink, cajun fries and a "buttermilk biscuit"The seating area round the back is much bigger than I expected and is very airy and well lit.The fries whilst slightly colder than I would have liked them were surprisingly tasty and the chicken was extremely moist and flavoursome, although the batter is nowhere near as good as KFC.The so-called "buttermilk biscuit" was surprising in many areas. Firstly, I like many others define a biscuit as "a small and hard, often sweetened, flour-based product" (as in digestive biscuit). Thus I was greatly confused when I was presented with some sort of scone/crunchy bread bun hybrid. However I have to admit that the final surprise of the "buttermilk biscuit" was how damn good it tasted. Very crunchy on the outside but so soft and spongey on the inside. mmmm!
