We went to this restaurant twice with the same server. First time with a group of 9 for my friends B-day. We made a reservation and brought our own cake. It was a crowded Saturday night and we were the first to arrive about 7:30pm and not long after, the restaurant was full. While we were waiting, the manager suggested to order some assorted Antipasto, chef selection. There were goat cheese stuffed figs, cold cuts, olives and some stuffed peppers. They were all quite nice. Then after everyone arrived, we ordered a seafood pasta, truffle mushroom risotto, a roasted chicken dish, Rib eye steak, rabbit, and a punch of other things. The Risotto was very delicious if you like truffles and the Steak was well prepared. All the food came out quite orderly, together and hot. Portions were etiquette for the price. Overall it was a great meal, we all said it was surprisingly delicious, not outrageously expensive and would give it a try again. Second time, I came with my husband for a walkin weekday dinner at about 7pm. Again we were the first few tables but the restaurant end up full when we leave. We both had a wonderful meal, homemade focaccia, pumpkin soup, Capaccio(excellent) Roast spring chicken and risotto. Dessert was Canoles and home made gelato and it was delicious. We had a bottle of delicious red, two appetizer, two entree and a dessert for about $1200. Food was non pretentious, simple but delicious and the sauces were well defined, not too rich. We came to this place under my friends recommendation. Last time we had 6 people and tonight we went there again with my family, 5 of us and the food quality was still very fresh. It was cold tonight so hot pot was perfect. It was busy as usual and even on a week night, I am glad we had a reservation. We ordered the cilantro thousand year old egg soup base and Sichuan pepper Spicy soup base. My favorite was the Drunken Shrimp, we let the shrimp soak for a while before we cook it, it was still alive and very sweet and fresh! Yummy. We also had hand cut beef, Japan Pork, Clams, Squid and Shrimp Balls and Paste, Crisp Fresh water fish slices, ostrich meat, Vege, Mushrooms, Black Tripe, Tofu, Crispy Fish Skin, Fish Wonton and Chive Wonton, Beer and drink $1200 total for 5 people. Not the cheapest but it was solid.Dip in the Deep Fried Fish Skin into the spicy soup base was delicious. The Shrimp and Squid Paste was not too tough, just right. Beef was ok, and I did not expect the pork to be like bacon, not too special. Ostrich meat was quite good and the tripe was not too tough. Sushi was one of my favorite but since we know our restaurant owner back in the US, it is hard for us to adjust to the high price sushi in HK. However, we found Gold Teppanyaki through our family friend and went there several times for lunch and dinner ever since and liked it more and more every time. We tried many times, lunch sets, sushi dinner and Tappanyaki, all were very good and solid. Service was attentive, and the owner was very informative and loves to chi chat, very friendly. The best lunch set was Uni, Salmon Roe and chopped tuna rice bowl, $130 with soup, snacks and dessert. Very good deal compare to Central prices. Also very fresh and delicious.Teppanyaki at night we had two dinner sets with my family of 4 and the portions were good and not too expensive for the quality of food that they give us. Sushi dinner was really fresh and the owner even taught us all about the fish and how to eat properly to get the best flavor...very educational! If you eat alone sometimes, sit at the sushi bar and you can have a good time with him. One side note was the smell, the ventilation was not etiquette for the size of the teppanyaki table. Our clothes always end up smelly when we leave no matter where we sit. So wear washable clothing. Private room and special order is available so make sure you ask when you make reservation. My parents and I were looking for a place to eat and remembered this old restaurant. We had to get some Chinese Sausage Gift certificate so we decided to give this a go again. It was quite busy for a weekday 7:30 dinner, we got one of the last table. This is not the cleanest of restaurant but acceptable. I was craving Chinese sausage clay pot rice so we end up ordering a Duck Liver chinese sausage with Preserved Duck rice, Oil Soaked Fish(really is deep fried), BBQ Pork and seafood vege of the day. The Sausage was delicious, but we questioned if they actually put the meat inside the rice to cook at the same time. The rice was not as good as I was hoping for. We complained about the duck being too fat. We basically only got 3 pieces that has meat and edible, the rest is mostly skin and fat. When we ask what kind of vegetable they will give, the waitress basically said you get what you get! It was pretty much a puddle of think sauce with little bit of seafood over napa cabbage, dissapointing although it was cheap. Fish was decent but my mom said since the fish was a little small, there were not much meat. But the flavor and the sauce was simple and light. Most of the bones were crispy from deep frying but there were still quite a bit of bones. The BBQ pork was really tender, lean and flavor was great! We all agree it was the best dish of all. Overall, it was a normal meal, would come back for just the BBQ and preserved meat stuff. After all it is one of their famous items. Do not expect to be treated super attentive and not sure if they have English or picture menu for Westerner.…查看更多
