Best snake soup place on the island but always packed except around 3-4pm weekdays, environment atrocious, jam packed with no elbow room & legroom especially if you have to share tables. I have no idea why the write-ups are so negative, cos after 1 year of constant 4 days/week visits to this little restaurant/diner, I have come to the conclusion that given the average price of $70-$100 /person for 3 meat / vegetable dishes, rice and soup, and possibly a drink to go with the meal, it's about the best place around Tin Hau, be the cost just slightly on the high side, except for lunches, which is a paltry $34 incl. of one main rice dish+soup+drink, tasty, ample and of excellent value.As for dinners, the meats and fish are normally deliciously prepared as well as the vegetables, soup of the day is greatly appreciated as I'm a soup lover, service is friendly, decor is pleasant, not offensive in the least and thank heavens NO blaring TV sets.So are we talking about the same restaurant folks? Or are we talking about their new sister establishment known as "Shek Kee Kitchen" on Ngan Mok Street which is a different story altogether, first and foremost the menu is ridiculously priced but since it's only opened a few weeks ago, I have to give them time to settle in before I make further judgment.:)…查看更多

Soup of the day is a must try, no MSG so they emphasized. The pig's neck was great and so was the "Mo Sek Gwut", apart from other dishes like the drunken pidgeon and Shanghaiese dumpling. Been coming here since the 60s. The food is 90% of the time excellently cooked. The fish being a tell-tale sign of the quality of cooking in seafood.Service has deteriorated slightly over the last 3-4 years for unknown reasons. Normally the various dishes are served up one after another to allow you enough time to savour each and everyone of them so you don't feel rushed, but lately, they come so fast and furious that you get an impression they want the table or the room back! I'm not saying that's bad, on the contrary, it's great...order anything with their renowned "sweet soy sauce", translated as "Swiss sauce" in Cantonese (check out its history in the menu).Been coming here since the late '50s, know the captains, hence great service. This one is by far the best out of all the others with the same name, worst being the one in Stanley Street, Central.Try "clear chicken mushroom soup" at dinnertime (never at lunchtime). It gives an appetising lingering aftertaste, could be due to their kind of msg, but they insist it's the ingredients in the soupbase. It's been 'consistent' for the last 40 or so years in my experience, and that's an accomplishment alone for any restaurant...'consistency'. Incidentally you can order toast in place of the roll with soups, IF you ask nicely.But then again, like I always say, restrooms being part and parcel of any eatery, the ones here have been 'consistently' way below par all these years, so cleanliness marks have to be deducted.Prices a bit on the high side, depending what you order, stick to the set menu for great value.…查看更多

This is another place I frequent.The Tom Yum Kung is quite authentic, other Asian foods (Hai Nan chicken rice) very much up to par. I come here around 3 times a month, before and after movies. It\'s convenient, not too difficult getting a table. Prices are slightly on the high side, but the service, environment and food is consistently good, especially the Hai Nan Chicken Soup Noodle.Booths are comfortable and spacious, the only downside is the restroom (which always matter in any eatery even if it\'s simply washing hands), miles away and pretty awful.So next time when you\'re visiting JP cinemas, this would be a nice place to perform a postmortem on the film you just saw.…查看更多

The price per head probably got jacked up because we ordered a ginseng/chicken soup which turned out to be a bit on the tasteless side! Don't order that.We didn't order any form of alcoholic drinks.Somehow it used to be a whole lot better restaurant years ago when the structure was still the Lee Gardens Hotel. Bit disappointing.
