So My friend finally bid farewell to HKG, and decided to host a private party on the terrace at Cassio. I didn't really pay attention to the environment as it was a night party and the lights are really dim. All I could tell was the sofa setting was U shaped and quite comfortable to relax and chit chat with different groups of people. She had a tailored menu and drink list on this occasion, that was lot cheaper than the A lar carte. The food and drink I ordered were:Sangria: I believe it is the signature drink here. Honestly it tasted just perfect, as I could tell it was freshly mixed with traditional recipe, that you could find the diced fruits at the bottom of the wine glass. So the sweetness ain't from the sugary liquid but fresh fruits that were soaked and freezed over nights. I persoanlly preferred the traditional one mixed with red wine over the white. All food were tapas bite sized. Tortilla: It was served hot with a strong aroma of egg, love it, yet I couldn't seem to taste the potato. Paella: I didn't know what kind of paella it was, but it just disappointed me. The texture of the rice wasn't that authentic compared to the one I tried in Barcelona. It was softened and not chewy.Green pepper: This dish was simple but really, went well with alcohol. It was served hot, deep fried seasoned with salt, which came with a bit of crunchiness.Iberico ham: A typical Spanish tapas, and it tasted just the way you expected, need I say more?Services were attentive. The only interesting thing was, the restaurant opt for eco friendly policy and replaced all plastic straws with edible straws. At first I didn't notice that, so I was like drinking, then having this small habit (I believe most ladies do) of biting the straw, and IT BROKE! Jesus Christ...all pieces left in my mouth. I almost swallowed it while wondering what it was, then the staff came and friendly explained it to me that the straw was edible! It sounded like a joke to me, so I asked what it was actually made of, and he replied, "flour". REALLY?!?!?!I laughed off the night becoz of this tiny accident.Edible straw, HAHAHA.…
So I have heard about it a lot how famous Shake Shack is back in NYC, and finally give it a try here in HK.Honestly, if Mac is a grass-root burger place, I would say Shake Shack is the middle class version of Mac, meaning the price and service is one level up. Fair enough.I ordered the shack burger, cheese fries and a lemonade.I think the burger is average, compared to the one I tried at Butcher Club. Beef patty is fresh but not juicy.Cheese fries is delicious, crispy topped with melted cheese. Not sure what kind of cheese they select (taste like gouda) but better if they can offer more varities. Anyway, you can't go wrong with evil cheese fries. (loads of calories!)I like the lemonade drink the most, a real sour lemonade but not sprite/7-up, that pretty balance off the fatty flavor of the meal.Service is awesome. There is staff handing you the menu at the queue, and looking for table for you. Overall, I would rate it an average dinning experience. Probably the fame has given it overated reviews. …
Morrison is a great place for friends to get together. It's located around the corner of Queen's Road Central, away from the noise and bar music of LKF in Central. I fell in love with this place the first time when I visited there, as it was so unusual than other bar restaurants in LKF. Inside it was bring and clean, without sticky floor, tables and chairs you would have usually found in other bars. Up on the second floor, there was a small balcony where you could enjoy a small & quiet chat with friends with a glass of wine. It has a packed schedule of activities every week, from open mic music, comedy show, dancing class and ladies night, there will be something for you.I like the cozy ambience and simple interior with long wooden table and high chairs that you can enjoy yourself comfortably. I usually ordered pizza Margherita or Pizza with parma ham, the taste never disappointed me. I once tried the mushroom risotto and tasted just perfect. Oh, the owner is very friendly too and everytime I came, he would welcome me with great services. It has become one of my favorite place to chill out with friends and enjoy a night of laughters. …
