Once in a while I do my grocery at the market downstairs. Decide to venture the mall and found a good sushi train restaurant within the mall and this little cafe. Ordered takeaway cappuccino. Best coffee by far from what I’ve tried in Tsuen Wan. No clue why pacific coffee around the corner would be more packed than this establishment. Visited last year and thought the ramen was ok. My husband wanted to try their ramen this time so we decided to have the same ramen because of the limited availability in selection. The ramen was made with pork and fish broth. Seriously delicious ramen and emptied out the whole bowl. The ramen was similar to the more expensive fish broth ramen in central but less expensive! I always see the bakery kitchen being busy which tells me that their bread is made fresh all day. My favourite are the pineapple bun with a slice of butter inside and surprisingly they make really good mini baguette! Only a few bakeries in hk make good ones and I found it here! Since it opened I always wanted to try their food because I drive past their restaurant everyday. The restaurant is small and narrow but pleasant. There are selection of sauces on the table along with cutleries. The menu is extensive and look authentic. With any Vietnamese restaurant I try to order the most basic, which is the beef pho. Taste wise it was delicious, but lacking in fragrance. The broth was slightly cloudy. Beef was tender and the noodles were soft and silky. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant for tasty pho. Didn’t expect to find a good Japanese restaurant around Tuen Mun but was introduced this place by a friend so decided to try out. Interior was decent. Attentive staff. The presentation of the food reflected the taste. Wonderful flavours, decent portion, well seasoned and cooked right. Sushi was fresh. Every other restaurant was full other than this place so we decided to have Vietnamese for dinner. Restaurant look decent, however food wasn’t. My noodle dish looked awful with only a few pieces of grilled meat and veg thrown in(note the word thrown, not arranged) and the accompanying nuoc mum sauce tasted like just sugar water. Dirty cutlery, pushy waitresses asking you to choose a set menu, food that we didn’t order kept coming to our table and we had to complain more than 3 times and lastly food wasn’t great either. The prawn was mushy in the Har Gow, Shao Long Bao was dry and flavourless, Siu Mai was mushy and tasted weird. The only good thing I could think of is the fried rice and attentive service. Greeted with a faux fireplace(nice!) as my family went up the stairs. The restaurant was very spacious, with a view of the kitchen at the very end. Very attentive service, had the menu and high chair for my son immediately as we got to the table. Ordering was a little confusing at first but we eventually found out that if one person orders a meal with the salad bar, the other diner has to do the same. Salad bar had a selection of salad leaves, vegetables, condiments, soup, dessert, fruit, fresh juice, tea, I can't remember if they had coffee? and ice cream(Dreyers). It felt like there wasn't much of a selection but when you go through it, you feel it's more than enough. All the salad was crisp and very fresh. The main came and the presentation on the plate was nice, but a little disappointed with the size of the hamburger. It was very juicy and had a nice flavour but the accompanying sauce was too salty. I've only heard good things about coco curry so I gave it a try today. Service was prompt and didn't take too long for my dish to arrive. I've also ordered a kids' meal for my son. The kids' meal had everything a child would love, rice&scurry, sausages, hamburger, wedges, tomato and jelly for dessert. It comes with a drink too for $47. Such good deal for a kids' meal. As I enter the restaurant on a Saturday night, I see more patron drinking than dining. So I thought the food must be bad. Wrong. Started off with the terrine then the steak. Could have had seconds of the terrine as it was delicious. Steak was cooked under than desired doneness but it was still juicy and flavourful. I hear it's grass fed beef. Can't get any better. Started with crusty bread with butter and olive oil+balsamic vinegar. Ordered fried sardines which was crispy and delicious. Octopus salad had too much garlic but the octopus was tender and had a lovely charred flavouring. Cod pie? was piping hot and delicious, perfect for a chilly rainy day. Lobster roll was dissapointing as the lobster was a bit chewy and it came in big chunk so when you take a bite, you pretty much take most of the lobster and eventually you're just eating the bun at the end.
