attracted by the publicity, my friend and I came to The Butterfly Room @ Rosewood for afternoon tea. Unfortunately we were informed earlier that the afternoon tea set was not ready yet, so we only went for snacks and desserts.upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by friendly and courteous staffs. The interior was beautifully decorated with artistic elements.Along the path to the Butterfly Room is the Patisserie, where all the beautiful desserts were displayed, and we simply couldn't wait to indulge in a yummy cake.We were seated in the Butterfly Room, very spacious and cosy. we ordered ourselves 2 glasses of wine and an angus steak tartar as snacks. The steak tartar was served with topinka and truffle fries, and the tartar was delicious and was bursting with flavor! great balance of citrusy and meatiness. however the fries was a bit soggy so didn't like it much.We ordered two cakes, an white cheese yuzu cake and a napoleon. Both cakes were beautiful and delicately made.The yuzu cake was very refreshing with a well balance between sweetness of white cream cheese layer and citrusy yuzu paste.As for the Napoleon, tho I was never a big fan, but this Napoleon cake was too yummy to resist. it was light-as-air and didn't feel too much after eating it. Had a very disappointing experience at the winery today. I came here with my friend looking for a relaxing brunch on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered two coffees ($40 each), an egg Benedict with smoke salmon ($120) and a chia seed pudding ($100). We waited for 20 mins before the coffee was served. With much disappointment, both cappuccino and latte came out to be room temperature and too milky (I wonder how many espresso shots there were).Another 25 mins passed with no sight of our mains....Finally the mains came, and the portions were unbelievably small. My $100 chia pudding came in a wine glass portion, and the promised "nuts ingredients" on menu was nowhere to be seen. Totally overpriced for this price. I used to like this place for its environment and atmosphere, but I guess I won't give it another chance to rip me off.…查看更多

TGIF! sucks that it's been raining for the whole day, felt especially sluggish. craving for a good coffee to wake myself up, and greens for detox.came to Studio Caffeine today for their Veggie all day after looking at reviews from other foodie. It's true! half of the plate has been filled with greens! kale, cucumber, and lettuce topped with ranch dressing, the greens were very fresh. the all day also came with 2 slices of warmly toasted baguette, big meaty and juicy Portobello mushroom, buttery fried eggs (super creamy and buttery...so savoury), truffle flavored mash potato (yummy!) and baked beans. the dish was huge and filling! it's only $88 (with no service charge), and what's more, is that it comes with a complimentary drink coz it's a weekday! (FRIYAY!) I had a cappuccino, the latte art was beautifully done :) good balance of milk, milk foam and espresso. love the nutty note of the coffee. highly recommend this cafe. great food, great coffee at very decent price.…查看更多

If you're craving for jap food for lunch in central, chances are you might end up paying $250 or up for a small portioned meal, and probably need to spend another $50 for tea. Nope! that's not the case at Hokkaido Robata Etsuzo. I spent $110, including service charge, for a decent Eel rice lunch set the lunch set came with a salad, a jap steamed egg, miso soup, a small side dish (scallop edge I think it was), and jap style pickles. out of these, I want to highlight the scallop side dish and the steamed eggs, they both were so delish! the steamed eggs filled with decent amount of crab meats, and yes, every spoon out there was crab meats As for the main, eel rice, they did an excellent job! the sauce was sweet and thick, just the right amount to keep the eel juicy and to finish the rice. The eel was meaty and juicy! love it every bite. The staffs were very friendly and their service was very courteous too! the time limit for lunch was supposedly 45 mins,.but because there wasn't a queue by the time we done our meal, the staffs let us sit however long we wanted :)I'd definitely come back for lunch and dinner !…查看更多

Finally get to try Bakehouse - been so looking forward to it ever since it’s opened !To be honest, the reason why I’ve been after Bakehouse is not because of its praise, but more of the decal and the ambience, the simple Scandinavian design :) My friend and I arrived at around 12:15, and I was lucky enough there wasn’t a queue for seats. They have a decent lunch set to choose from. We both got a soup, a main, and a drink. The soup of the day was cream of cauliflower. The soup was very rich (both texture and taste) – cauliflower puree with cheese, cream, and bacon bits (and it was a little too salty for me). With two toast on the side, this has definitely filled up 70% of my tummy already. I got mushroom sub as main – Portobello mushroom with sautéed onions, gruyere cheese, diced cucumbers and mint yogurt, topped with flakes of fried onions. Honestly, this is out of my expectation, I was expecting more like a simple grilled Portobello mushroom on ciabatta bread. The flavor of the sub was bold and smokey – the meaty taste of mushroom, together with caramelized onions and dried onions, it gives a very unami sense of taste, but on a strong note. As for drinks, I just went for an iced lemon tea. The thing I wanted to highlight about the iced lemon tea was that THEY USE REUSABLE STRAWS! NO MORE PLASTIC STRAWS! Something I’d like to compliment about. Overall, I find that the lunch was very good in terms of value. In terms of taste, personally I find it a bit too bold and salty. Crepes! Waffles! Coffees!Oh la la! All my favourite packed in one cafes!Conveniently located on the second street in Sai Ying Pun, Crispy Bistro is just 2 minutes walk from MTR exit. The little neighbourhood café offers more than just coffee, crepes and waffles, but also sandwiches, draft beer and wines. I can imagine it be a nice chill out place no matter what time you visit.Crispy Bistro has meal sets that are perfect for 2-people. It either comes with a savoury waffle + a sweet crepes, or vice versa, sweet waffle combo (big enough for 2) or affogato + sweet waffle/crepes. My friend and I shared a smoked salmon waffle and a banana crepes.To my surprise, the salmon waffle was actually a full-day breakfast. I simply did not expect eggs and beans and salad to come with it (I guess I didn’t pay attention to the menu description). The eggy waffles were buttery, more on the spongy side yet remained a crispy edge. The eggs were creamy and fluffy; smoked salmons were of decent portion (4 slices), a non-oily hashbrown to top up the all-day breakfast Overall, the fish was nicely done. The banana crepes was not bad either! The presentation was like a Chinese fan or, one could call it, a scallop shell shape, anyhow, I found the presentation quite appealing. Filled with whipped cream, drizzled in chocolate sauce and topped with a generous portion of sliced bananas, the crepes was pretty filling! Not to mention the giant scoop of chocolate icecream, yummy! The crepes was thin yet it had its sponginess to it, served warm and hint of eggy and buttery, loved it! I ordered myself a cappuccino, which was not bad. Happy Friday starts with happy tummy 😊came here tonight for a four course tasting menu with wine pairing...The meal was as splendid as always.we started off with a Carpaccio of Scallop. this dish was the perfect appetizer to start off our meal - fresh slices of scallops piled on top of salmon role, red cabbage, green apples dressed in Jerez vinegar. the accompanying wine - a bubbly Spanish cava got our palettes excited!here came the second course - Marinated salmon ravioli paired with an old wine that tasted like sherry (I'm never a big fan of sherry..) but miracle happened after i took a bite of the herby salmon ravioli along with a sip of the wine, everything started to make sense now! the salmon ravioli had a fairly strong taste, probably some dill I guess? winebeast definitely did an excellent job on the wine pairing :)..and the main course! Spanish pork filet mignon. oh boy, the filet mignon was so tender and juicy! smeared with apricot marmalade to balance out the meaty sensation of the pork, yummy! the dish was paired with a jammy Bordeaux red, it was fantastic :)last but not least, the finale! the dessert! dark chocolate fondue paired with vanilla ice cream, hazelnuts and hazelnut sauce, classic winter dessert. the fondue cake was slightly overdone tho, would've been better if the chocolates were still running inside. but overall the taste was great!the meal was fantastic overall. the food was delicious, ingredients were fresh, the presentation was beautiful and the ambience was great.one thing to improve on, however, is the amount of wine...it wasn't the first time I've had wine pairing at winebeast but the amount of wine was very little compared to previous times...was even smaller in amount compared to wine tasting events, so of course it wasn't enough to pair for one whole dish. …查看更多

For a café to survive in Wan Chai, aka a district infamous for boutique café, one really need to serve very good and unique coffee.NINETYS, a café bistro that has recently opened on QRE. It is always filled with people, whether it’s dine-in or the lineup for takeaway coffees. Well, that must mean something!Under this super chilly weather these days, nothing can defrost my chilly bones other than a good cup of coffee.Went there for lunch today – my companions arrived at 12 sharp so there were no queue (phew!) by the time I arrived at around 12:30, the café was full already. I ordered myself a roasted cajun chicken for lunch. (Too hungry, my stomach eats first so nothing for camera) The lunch came with a side salad (with citrus-dressed kale, tomato, mushroom) and grain rice (just barely warm). The chicken was very good though! The marinated Cajun chicken was full of spice and herbs, the meat was tender and juicy, it was very satisfying.Last but not least, ordered a flat white with choco blend for myself. The presentation was elegant - latte art was beautifully done. The flat white was aromatic; the coffee wasn’t strong but it has a soft nutty after taste to it. if you're looking for something cold and refreshing to get through the hot days, but can't get over the guilt of an ice-cream, you'll love COZY fro-yo. Cozy has 8 standard choices on their menu ($35-$48), and a create-your-own starting at $30. I always go for their standard ones, I find they're the best for value since they already come with at least 4 to 5 toppings. Today I went for their Daily Breakfast, which came with blueberries. strawberries, caramelized apple bits, cornflakes, and choco-flakes bar. the size was very decent to be honest, and so as the presentation. the yogurt was mildly sweet and sour, super refreshing and fulfilling. all the toppings are rather healthy, with crunchy cereal meeting juicy fruits, one shouldn't feel much guilt after downing the whole froyothere's limited bar settings in the shop, so feel free to enjoy the yogurt before hitting the (hot) road :)…查看更多

Yes, indeed, this cafe is little! but the coffee, the waffles, and the cosy decal made it quite special to be more than One Little Room.This is my second time visiting One Little Room; I still remember the aromatic cappuccino I had, but I didn't get a chance to try their waffles last time, hence I got myself a yogurt bowl with waffles this morning!The yogurt and waffle set was very wholesome! waffles: crunchy on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside, they also added flaxseed into the waffles making them extra healthy :) yogurt cup: layers of plain yogurt separated by a layer of muesli. well one thing was that, as the name suggested, I was expecting a bigger serving - ie. a bowl.the presentation of cappuccino was beautiful, but it was a little bit too milky this time, overpowered the espresso...I like One Little Room overall, I hope the cappuccino would be better when I come back next time …查看更多

situated on the connaught road west, the steam cafe is not something one would randomly stumble across on a weekend. we were lucky enough to be in the area; saw this corner cafe with decent menu..and decided to give it a try (glad we did). the cafe was small, but cosy with warm and friendly staffs. we sat by the bar and ordered an all day and a bagel, with cappuccino. with each meal, it came with a soup. it ain't no ordinary Campbell soup, but it was a homemade soup made from fresh ingredients. today's soup was pumpkin x tomato x potato soup, hearty and healthy ! here's our all day brekky : smoke salmon, ham, bacon, truffle scramble eggs, cheese baked Portobello mushroom, and salad. for $78 in the western district, where else could one find such decent brekky? all food were made to order and in front of you - fresh and hot :) we also shared a New York bagel: an everything bagel with pastrami, cheese, lettuce and tomato. the bagel was chewy and warmly toasted, stacked with good portion of deli, cheese and veggie, the combination was just perfect !finally, the cappuccino. oh..the cappuccino....yum... first of all, the appearance, the latteart had been done beautifully, and next the taste - cappuccino was light and airy. the coffee had a hint of fruity sweetness, a refreshing summer coffee. overall, the experience at the steam was great, with good coffee, delicious and value-for-money food, and courteous staffs, I'd definitely come back again!…查看更多

Conveniently located right across EXIT B1 of Sai Ying Pun station (be reminded, not exit B3 unless you need some exercise), Coffee by Zion offers not only great coffee, but also wholesome meals.Came here on a Saturday early afternoon, the cafe was quite full but luckily the turnover was fast so I didn't really have to wait. The menu option was quite extensive for a small cafe, there were all day breakfast ($78-$88), scrambled eggs on toast with a topping ($55), muesli with yoghurt ($45-$55), sandwich, pasta, and pastries. my friend and I got 2 cappuccino and a all day breakfast plus a scrambled egg with avocado.the cappuccino was nice, well balance of foam, milk and espresso. the coffee art was pretty too! the coffee offered by Zion was aromatic, yet it didn't have a long finish nor lengthy after taste. but still, overall I liked it. I got myself the scrambled eggs with toast and avocado mash. the scrambled eggs were fluffy and buttery, they were delicious! the avocado mash was pretty much like guacamole, I liked it for it had a generous amount of lemon juice to balance out the heaviness of avocado and buttery scrambled eggs. There are a lot of good cafes in HK, but not a lot serves good bagel. Thank goodness to have found this little gem in the Olympic area that not only serve good bagel, but also good coffee. The Brew Job menu was simple, they only have avocado toast, bagels, and pastry as food option. As a huge bagel lover, of course I got their smoked salmon supreme and cappuccino combo ($89).The bagel was delicious and the fillings was generous! The warmly toasted bagel was crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. Layers of smoked salmon with thick spread of creamcheese (evil!), and balanced very well with the refreshing arugula and pickled capers. And the coffee, boy, it was good! Situated in the quiet neighborhood of Sheung Wan, Common Ground offers the perfect place to take a break. One stairway further up to the PMQ, surrounded by galleries and old residential buildings, the open-area cafe gave a peaceful and chillaxing vibe. I ordered myself a Brunch Set, which came with scrambled eggs, smokey roasted mushrooms, fresh balsamic salad and rosemary olive oil toast. I also got myself a cappuccino for an extra $18. The brunch itself was average, taste wise - nothing too outstanding. The coffee was plausible; however, I don't think I would pay the regular price ($40) for the cappuccino if it weren't come with the set (for $18). Even though the brunch set not the coffee was extraordinary, but I really liked the environment of the cafe. What's better than cozing yourself in a quiet cafe, sipping a hot coffee on a lazy Sunday afternoon:)?First time going to the Olympic area, quite a nice neighborhood indeed - quiet, spacious, and peaceful. My friend and I decided to check out the area and stumbled upon Browny no.49. It's around 5 to 10 mins walk from the MTR, a more local / quiet option than what's offered in the Olympic city.The cafe has a minimalist design - white wall, wooden table, green plants, small kitchen. We ordered 2 cappuccino and sat ourself in the corner. The coffee art was very skillfully done! The cappuccino was aromatic and nutty.
