Decent bagel
午夜麵包俱樂部
2024-06-03
📍Midnight Bread ClubHad my eyes on this popular bagel shop and finally a sunny weekend to get to Tai Hang to check it out. It opens at 11, we arrived at 11.10am and it was packed full of people. As the space is quite limited, it does take quite a while for each customer to order, pay and served. We were lucky enough to get a seat inside but be prepared that it is very small and it is very unlikely for you to grab a seat insides. One drink per person which is reasonable. The drinks were fine. For the bagels, we tried their cranberry cheese and egg salad bagels. I liked their bagel texture. They do have the crisp for the outer layer after being warmed. The cheese doesn’t have any cheese pull but it does have a good cheese taste. The egg salad is yummy but it’s very not eating friendly! The egg salad basically drops everywhere, especially with the chewy bagel texture, it’s difficult to eat. Love their honey miso cream cheese! A must add! Staff are super friendly despite being very busy! Next time I think I better buy for take away so I can reheat it at home to make a crispier texture. Price: HK$100 pp Revisit: 8/10…Read More

文興酒家 (曾昭灝大廈)
2024-06-02
📍Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant Here for lunch for their boiled soup. Love that their are cooked in individual small pots. I like their signature roast duck. The skin is crispy and has a strong smoked aroma. Their cha siu depends on luck. This time it was tender and yummy. The appetizer jelly fish was very crunchy and quite garlicky. The truffle shrimp and egg dish and the fried rice were alright.Overall, portion is generous and price is ok. My second spot after Sing Kee. Price: HK$300pp (lunch) Revisit: 8/10…Read More

三笠屋

📍MikasayaTried Mikasaya’s dinner omakase last October and was amazed by its high CP value. Less than HK$1000 for dinner with a total of 14 pieces plus dessert and miso soup. Seriously couldn’t ask for more. Can be a good entry spot for people who wants to try omakase but on a budget. Motoyama San was also a very funny person!Price: HK$1000Revisit: 8/10…Read More

AN
2024-05-30
📍AN Had AN on my list for a while as I am a fan of Mora. Finally dragged myself to Basehall for lunch, surprisingly, it’s very easy to get a seat for AN. Ordered their Mapo Tofu Mazesoba and Chicken Tofu Soup + Soy Milk Latte. The Mazesoba was with fresh Tofu, Minced Pork, Sichuan Pepper Bean Paste, Pork Belly, Chopped Scallion, Pickled Celtuce, Crispy Shallot, Cabbage & Leek. Spice level was alright. I like the bouncy noodles. The Chicken Tofu Soup didn’t look too appetizing but actually quite rich and with generous amounts of bean curds in it. The soy milk latte is rich. Overall, the set together is quite overwhelming and filling. We also tried their Sticky Rice Onigiro with Pork Belly. It’s not expensive but can simply skip. It lacks seasoning and the sticky rice lacks the needed chewiness. I doubted whether it’s worth $198 for a noodle set at the time. But somehow I would think about it from time to time. Probably time to go back to have a second bowl! Price: HK$200 pp Revisit: 8/10…Read More

298 Nikuya Room
2024-05-27
📍298 Nikuya RoomThis is my go to spot in Central for yakiniku lunch. We always order their lunch set A 298 set so that we have a variety of meat. We also like to add a portion of their 崩沙腩 which is super soft and yummy. We finally gave their uni and wagyu bowl set a try. Hmmmm…the wagyu was too raw for our liking. With the egg yolk, everything was too rich together. Prefer the yakiniku over this. Their pancake was bomb and tried their French toast! OMG! So crunchy and sweet! A must order from now on! Nice afternoon tea
The Drawing Room
2024-04-14
📍The Drawing RoomFinally able to get to try the afternoon tea at the Drawing Room. It’s a lot easier to book now. We happened to try their collaboration with @esteelauder_hk For this special tea set, there were four fixed pieces. Balik Salmon, Comté Cheese, Hibiscus Grapefruits Gel and Black Rice Chocolate. All very well balanced and flavored. We can then choose four pieces of savory and sweet items each. We basically tried all on the trolly. My favorites include Caviar Mille Feuille, Foie Gras Rose, Octopus Tartine and Cannelé. Their two flavored scones were very buttery too! Overall, very good quality food. Just that they iced tea tasted like water 😅 The set also comes with a facial cleanser and eye cream sample! Such a great deal! Price: HK$600 pp (afternoon tea) Revisit: 9/10…Read More

Nice quick option
新京熹老北京涮肉火鍋
2024-04-11
📍新京熹New restaurant on Stanley Street that serves Beijing style hotpot for both lunch and dinner sessions. They have mini pots for per person, so that we can choose our own soup base. There are mainly two types which is the spicy one and traditional water like type. The spicy one is quite spicy when it keeps on boiling. The water one is a bit sweet with the herbal pack. I love their sauces here. The 麻醬 is thick! The other supplements are yummy together. Their signature 190mm 180 days lamb slices is yummy. The hand cut lamb has more lamb flavor. Don’t order the shrimp paste, it’s with a very weird texture. Feeling guilty having hotpot for lunch but yet so happy 😆Price: HK$480 pp Revisit: 9/10…Read More

Nice Bistro
2 Sup
2024-04-09
📍2 Sup Heard a lot of good things about this newly reopened bistro at Sai Ying Poon. For starters, we ordered their signature Goose Liver Creme Brulee. Smooth and yummy. The Gambas al Ajillo was perfect for me to dip my bread in it. The French onion soup is rich and yummy, actually way better than the ones in Paris lolFor mains, we ordered their show stopper Linguine with Lobster in Seafood Sauce. Lobster portion is generous and very fair for value. The Duck Confit Rice Casserole was super yummy! Love their 粒粒分明and flavorful rice. The desserts were ok but not a must have. Overall, a nice bistro to come with a small group. Price: HK$800 pp (dinner) Revisit: 9/10…Read More

Amazing pasta bar
Aedes Wine & Pasta Bar
2024-03-22
📍Aedes Wine & Pasta Bar New restaurant alert! If you are a pasta lover, you have got to give this new pasta bar at Happy Valley a try! It’s the sister restaurant of @locandahk. I personally am a huge fan of Locanda so I had to give Aedes a try once I found out about it! We tried three starters and they are all bomb! The Focaccia was so yummy that I wanted to order a second portion! Even better when dipped in the mushroom soup! The mushroom and potato soup was thick yet flavorful. Zucchini Croquettes with Garlic Mayonnaise was yummy and very generous in portion size. Finally, the hero, all the pasta dishes! I wanted to try all of them if I had the stomach! All pasta were al dente and perfectly seasoned. Pappardelle Bolognese was rich but goes well with the thick pasta. Love the texture of their Cavatelli Melanzana, so chewy! Linguine alle Vongole Was so yummy too! Can’t describe how good they were but we polished off each and every plate! For desert, the Full milk and Madagascar Vanilla gelato were nice, just hoped that it is less melted. Only found out that all the dishes were actually cooked in Locando’s restaurant and each pasta dish is like HK$150@ only! Highest CP value and so yummy! Strongly recommend! UZA by Nikushou
2023-12-29
📍UZA By NikushouI am a fan of Nikushou, especially their grilled eel so I was excited to try their sister restaurant which is set to be specialized in grilled eel. Was a bit surprised to be seated at a deserted table outside upon arrival as we were never told that there is a difference between the tables/counter. Would recommend asking for counter table so that you can see where the action takes place. The restaurant originally just offers omakase style menu but now they have added the al carte menu. We still opted for the omakase menu to try all their specialty. We started off with four kinds of pickles and a jelly fish dish. We then had some deep fried shrimp. It sort of loses the sweetness of the shrimp but could paired well with beer. The sashimi with their special sauce was fine. I enjoyed their chawanmushi. Was a bit puzzled by the sequence of the food as we were then served with a fresh oyster. The tofu was nice but the highlight was the chilly sauce on top. The two types of uni and ikura was a safe presentation. But I actually like the next dish which is a simple daikon with a great broth. The grilled eel was served two ways. Ummm I think I’ll go back to Nikushou for their grilled eel instead. Just like many others, my favorite of the night has got to be their fried chicken with their chicken liver pate. Soo juicy, super thin layer of crispy skin. Probably the best fried chicken I had for the year. The fried shrimp was a bit overcooked. We added some grilled chicken wings which is very good for value! Just HK$40@! Overall, slightly disappointed. Will probably come back for al carte just for the fried chicken. Price: HK$1300 pp (omakase dinner) Revisit: 7/10…Read More

Great Potential
Rêveri
2023-12-27
📍RêveriHave longed to come to try this Japanese X French restaurant, using Japanese ingredients with French techniques. To start with, Japanese Mackerel Ceviche was refreshing and a piece of art to the eyes. The Uni Brioche reminds me of the one at Roganic but even richer with the uni on top. One of my favorite of the night was their Fole Gras Monaka with Shaoxing wine jelly, figs jam, caviar, chill aioli. They don’t make sense in a sentence but it was a flavor explosion. We then turned to a Pigeon Yakitori which was perfectly cooked. The richness was then washed off by the Trio Tomato with Compressed cucumber, basil, tomato water and tomato granita. Definitely a great palate cleanser! The two main dishes were surf and turf, just on two different plates. Both yummy but not surprising. For the carb dish, we tried both the Soy Marinated Toro and Spicy Ikura Rice and upgraded a portion Japanese abalone rice with liver sauce. I personally prefer the toro and Ikura version as the abalone was a bit tough. The dessert was a bit of a miss for me. Vanilla Braised Pineapple with Coconut granita, malibu cream cheese foam. It’s more of a Thai dish to me. However, the birthday lemon/yuzu tart was superb! Would easily choose it over the original dessert! Overall, a very nice restaurant that is full of potential! Yummy summer menu
SOMM
2023-10-19
📍SOMM It is always enjoyable to be back at SOMM for HH/light dinner. Their wine selection is superb. First time trying their summer menu and it was quite a surprise! Very bold flavors which I enjoyed! The Grilled Octopus was very tender with a strong charred taste. The sauce was Fermented Bell Pepper, Sichuan Pepper Romanesco. It was very unique and I loved the extra watermelon bits. Morisseau Bouchot Mussels cooked in Yellow Wine, White Miso & Uni Butter Sauce was to die for! The sauce was so yummy that the little side toasts were simply not enough! It tasted sort of like a Thai twist to me. The mussels were small but very sweet and tender! Great cook on the mussels! I couldn’t help myself but asked for extra portions of their sourdough to soak up all the sauces! Still one of the best sourdough in town! The beef charsiu seemed to be a better version than before as it’s less fatty. Dessert is a light Alwan Mango & Passion Fruit Tart, indeed perfect for summer. Time to go back again! BaseHall 01
2023-10-19
📍BasehallBasehall is indeed a convenient venue that gathers all the famous restaurants together. The best part is probably satisfying people who have difficulties in choosing what they want and can end up with bits from each restaurant. Tried @kamcentre.roastgoose and their Spanish fatty cha Siu is no joke! Probably better than their roasted goose! For their roasted goose, the skin is crispy but the goose is a bit too fatty. Hope that they could improve on their rice type as it’s too mushy. As for 安利, I’ll be a good girl and go back to 三多. Price: HK$150 pp Revisit: 8/10…Read More

High quality
JJJ Korean Steakhouse & Bar
2023-10-10
📍JJJ Korean Steakhouse JJJ can be easily neglected when you walk along Wyndham Street and mistaken it as a nightclub but it actually serves good quality Korean food, in particular their beef! For starters, their white truffle tartare and seafood pancake were superb! Definitely stands out from the other Korean restaurants. Their KFC is nice too but not like must order. The JJJ Deluxe Butcher’s Cut provides a good variety of cuts to try, with both Korean Hanwoo, USA dry aged ribeye and Japanese A4 Wagyu to compare. To top it off, you must try their JJJ beef rice! It needs to be shared because it’s actually fried rice with diced beef, a whole bone marrow and fried garlic. It is soooo rich but so flavorful! The fried garlic is ridiculously good. Dessert we tried their Makgeolli ice cream and egg bread. Can skip.Dinner is on the pricey side but their quality justifies it. Their galbi lunch set is the best that comes with a bowl of miyeok guk and banchan! (Last few photos) Price: HK$1500 pp (dinner + we over ordered) Revisit: 10/10…Read More

田浦食肉
2023-10-02
📍Jeonpo MeatshopJeonpo is probably the fastest growing Korean chain in Hong Kong this year with their latest branch opening at the heart of Central. Heard so many good comments about it so I was excited to try it right away during lunch. Hmmmm what should I say. Their signature grilled beef short ribs was seriously disappointing. Super overcooked. It’s so tough that it is even very difficult to swallow. The pork neck was slightly better but still tough AF. You can see how sad the meat is by being diced in such a way. I am afraid that it’s not just the cook but also the meat quality that was with issue. The accompanying veggie was also quite sad looking and not fresh. The lunch set with cold buckwheat noodles and marinated meat were good and super fair for value! Next time, I’ll just opt for that as a quick lunch option. The steamed egg was reasonable but nothing special. Price: HK$120-300 pp (lunch) Revisit: 6/10…Read More
