Delicious and fun vegan/ vegetarian burger concept
游°
2022-10-30
Delicious and fun vegan/ vegetarian burger concept. 🍔📍 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐤 𝐓𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐬𝐮𝐢 / 𝐇𝐊𝐔 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐘𝐚𝐮 𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫 @yvdinerDefinitely one of the top vegetarian restaurants in Hong Kong, I have visited Yau Veggie @yauveggie a couple times. Yau Veggie Diner is their new initiative, branching out from French fine dining into a more casual and affordable burger experience. 🍔 I've been following their updates for quite some time and was excited to see it finally came into life! The space was decorated with fun and creative artworks 🖼 on each of their 8 burger flavours, along with colourful balloons. 🎈 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿 (HK$168)Your cruel-free Big Mac. Cheesy and flavourful 🧀 ! For someone who hasn’t had Big Mac for almost a decade this tasted incredibly close with the fresh and crunchy veggies inside. 🤤 4.5/5𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿 (HK$178) Interestingly the caramelised onion 🧅 took over the taste profile so it was a lot sweeter than the other burger.🤤 4/5+ HK$60 for combo (side and drink) 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 (+HK$30)I think the spice level of this one needs some warning since they’re actually using Carolina Reaper, a really hot pepper. 🌶 Was too spicy for me, would be more enjoyable if the spice level could be adjustable and taken down a notch. 🤤 3.5/5𝗢𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀🤤 3.5/5🌱 Vegetarian paradise: All the burgers can be prepared vegan! And I have never seen so many burger flavours in one place! Incredibly well-executed especially when all are made with @impossible_foods patties and different spins on sauces and ingredients.💰 HK$200-300pp⭐️ Overall rating: 3.5/5 (would be a 4 if the wait was not that long 🥺)They suggest preordering for the main menu items but did not suggest the same for the burgers so we were surprised that we had to wait for almost an hour for the two sets to arrive, in the end it took even longer than the main menu items ordered later than us at another table. ☹️
🤔 Revisit? Maybe. While it’s cheaper than their usual menu, this is still a lot pricier than other burger joints as you’re looking at HK$300 for a set.…查看更多

New café bringing in Cali sunshine in a cup
Melrose Coffee
2022-10-30
New café in Central bringing in Cali sunshine in a cup. 🌞📍 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 @melrosecoffeehkDrawing its inspiration from LA’s famous shopping street, this newly opened café features an eye-catching shopfront dressed in sunset coral. The interiors are matched with pastel hues, terrazzo wall panels and bright yellow-and-white checkered flooring.I visited with a friend on a weekday slightly past lunch hour and it was quite a walk-up from the station to the café. We were surprised that it was not busy but the space was a lot smaller than I imagined.𝗔𝘃𝗼 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗼 (HK$108)Wanted to try their Spinach Frittata (sans bacon version) but they ran out of spinach that day so I went with this instead. Not my first choice because in my opinion, avocado toast 🥑 has become a really cliché café food in HK and sometimes I feel like I can make better avo toasts at home. 😬This one is quite unique as you get three different combinations of avocado on a rye bread 🍞. I liked the one with pomegranate and nuts the best, the ricotta cheese with radish one was also quite refreshing. Although it’s called Avo Trio, essentially it’s just one single piece of toast cut into three so the portion didn’t really justify the price.🤤 3.5/5𝗘𝗦𝗣 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻 (HK$55) 𝚅This is one of their signature drinks which is a blend of espresso shot and chai tea. Pretty special and invigorating especially with the spices! 🤤 4/5🌱 Vegetarian friendly: Okay la, this avo trio and the yoghurt bowl are vegetarian and you can always ask for no bacon for the frittata. They also have other desserts on the menu and vegan pastries from @sowvegan. 🙆🏻‍♀️ Friendly service and nice environment. The interiors are aesthetically pleasing, nice place to sit and people-watch by the window when the place isn’t too crowded.💰 HK$60-170 pp
⭐️ Overall rating: 3.5/5
🤔 Revisit? Maybe. Not the most convenient spot in Central so I probably won’t go there on purpose on a hot summer day. But definitely wouldn’t mind dropping by for a cup if I happen to be around.…查看更多

Homegrown matcha brand whisking up green drinks
Matchali (月街)
2022-10-30
Homegrown matcha brand whisking up wholesome and healthy green drinks and nibbles. 🍵 📍𝐖𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐢 @matchali_hkMatchali was the very reason I fell in love with matcha! All their drinks are hand-whisked made with hand-picked ceremonial grade matcha from Uji, Kyoto 🇯🇵 - delivering full flavours and fragrance. This is why I had been waiting to visit their first flagship store on Moon Street, which features not only matcha drinks but also a new all-day food menu, including vegan soft serve!🍦Finally paid my very first visit last week on a weekday afternoon. The space was small but felt welcoming and cosy, featuring a nice backyard seating. 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲 (HK$60)First time trying this and I think it’s my new favourite! The sweet, spicy masala chai with the grassy notes of matcha are blended perfectly together. 🤤 4.5/5𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮 (HK$80) 𝚅Velvety and smooth! A sit-down situation means that you can now enjoy your matcha in a ceramic chawan instead of a paper cup.🤤 4/5𝗧𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗠𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗝𝗮𝗺, 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲 (HK$78) 𝚅A healthier version of PB&J! I love that they’ve used high quality spreads made by local brands, but the price is quite steep for a single slice of sourdough toast.🤤 4/5𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗮 𝗦𝗼𝗯𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗱 (HK$108) 𝚅Couldn’t taste much green tea flavour from the buckwheat soba 🍜 but the overall combo with the veggies was light and refreshing! Was expecting it to be slightly more filling because of the price. 🤤 4/5🌱 Vegetarian friendly: The food menu is as green as their drinks! And did I mention that they have vegan matcha serve? Didn’t have the time to try it this time but I’ll be sure to come back for it!💁🏻‍♀️ Personalise your drink: Sweetness level, plant-based milk (+HK$5), extra shot of tea or coffee (+HK$6) and tons of health-boosting add-ons to make your drink truly yours!💰 HK$60-180 pp
⭐️ Overall rating: 3.5/5 (would be a 4 if price is out of consideration)
🤔 Revisit? Yes, but probably just for the drinks and soft serve next time.…查看更多

Pink-themed Instagrammable vegetarian restaurant
JAJA
2022-10-30
Pink-themed vegetarian restaurant with Instagram-worthy interiors and dishes. 🤳💗📍𝐖𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐉𝐀𝐉𝐀 @jajahongkongNewly opened this year at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, JAJA has been all over my feeds. Their pink wonderland interior design is so iconic that you simply can’t miss. The perfectly pink place is filled with grammable corners like a life size claw machine and cute giant plushies 🧸 at the entrance, as well as two instant photo booths. 📸 We visited in the evening and were taken over by the night view, there is a small al fresco area that overlooks Victoria Harbour - perfect for happy hour drinks over sunset! 🥂𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗯𝘀 (HK$85) 𝚅Flavourful and delicious, love the vegan BBQ mayo on top! 🌽🤤 4/5𝗦𝗼-𝗟𝗮𝗸𝘀𝗮 (HK$108) Laksa is one of my comfort food but it’s so difficult to find vegetarian ones in HK! Nice rendition with mock chicken, flavour was mild but would love to taste more coconut 🥥 notes in the broth.🤤 4/5# 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 (HK$178) Average vegetarian burger with @impossible_foods patty, I guess the only thing special was that the 🍔 buns were red (from beetroot?).🤤 3.5/5𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗲 (HK$95) 𝚅Looks better than it tastes. 🤤 3/5🌱 Vegetarian paradise: They have a really extensive menu from light salads 🥗 and bowls to mains and sweets 🥞 from different cuisines - quite a few vegan options as well but not much allium-free choices. 💘 Pretty-in-pink: Great place to bring your family and friends who enjoy taking photos as much as eating good food! 💰 HK$200-350 pp
⭐️ Overall rating: 4/5 (Pink is my colour so slightly biased here I won’t lie 🙈)
🤔 Revisit? Yes! They have many interesting items on the menu so I’m eager to come back and try them out!To be honest I didn’t have high expectations for the food quality since the hype around the pink interiors seemed more like an instabait - so this first visit was a pleasant surprise. Service was okay but slightly cold - not exactly living up to their motto of spreading happiness and good vibes. 😬…查看更多

Modern Japanese izayaka/ sando bar
勝本
2022-10-27
Modern Japanese izayaka/ sando bar led by former Nobu chef Sean Mell serving up fusion flavours and extensive vegetarian options. 🇯🇵  📍 𝐒𝐚𝐢 𝐘𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐮𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐨 @katsumotohk  This Japanese restaurant has caught my eyes many times from across the street because of its unique storefront and playful interior decor.  Never had a proper look at their menu before and I was surprised by the variety of vegetarian dishes they offer. 👀  𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹 (HK$48) One of the items on their happy hour menu and this was really good! These really cute, dainty makis are wrapped with melt-in-your-mouth avocado and mayo on top. The avocado 🥑 was soft and creamy that you get the illusion of eating a salmon roll. So good that I think I can easily devour the whole plate by myself. 🤤 4.5/5  𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗷𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗮 (HK$138) An assortment of vegetarian tempura (cauliflower, shiitake, pepper and sweet potato). The dipping was quite hot, not your traditional tentsuyu. Tempura coating was light and crisp but I feel like it needed just an extra dash of seasoning. 🤤 3.5/5  𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼 (HK$168) First time trying a “meaty” Japanese sando and this turns out to be quite nice! You get a generous amount of @impossible_foods beef steak, prepared like a regular Japanese pork cutlet, coupled with crunchy coleslaw and a splash of spicy mayo. Loved the flavour but it was quite heavy for me so I was happy to be sharing it. 🤤 4/5  𝗢𝗺𝗻𝗶𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗚𝘆𝗼𝘇𝗮 (HK$108) Said to be homemade 🥟 so I had to order and try it out! Nice flavouring with shiso and ginger, they added shiitake with @omnifoods.global omnipork to make the texture even richer. The dumpling wrappers were a bit thick. Preferred if it was thinner so it would be crispier and lighter on the outside. 🤤 3.5/5  🌱 Vegetarian-friendly? Yesss, plant based options from starters, salads, sushis, sandos and more - can’t complain! 🙌 Nice ambience and friendly service, 💯 for the hospitality. 💰 HK$200-300 pp ⭐️ Overall rating: 4/5 🤔 Revisit? Yes! There are still more vegetarian items on the menu that I’ve yet to try!…查看更多

French bistro with Brittany specialties and crepes
Bistro Breton by La Creperie
2022-10-27
New French bistro by La Crêperie bringing in Brittany specialties as well as savoury and sweet crêpes. 🇫🇷  📍 𝐒𝐚𝐢 𝐘𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐮𝐧 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐧  Taking over the old spot of pizzeria Homeslice pizzeria, Bistro Breton by La Crêperie is a new addition to the SYP food scene. 🍽  As a crêpe lover I had my eyes 👀 set on it before it was officially opened but delayed my visit because of the fifth wave.   The interior layout hasn’t changed much, the seating was spacious and comfortable. I really liked the touches of French colours 🇫🇷 and ocean decoration around the place.   They have a playlist of feel-good, catchy French songs that brought in the cool, relaxed ambience. They also house a wine cellar 🍷 hidden at the end of the restaurant that sells French bottles that you can drink here or take home with.  𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 1 Main + 1 Dessert (HK$198)  𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗟’𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁 Have to say that this was the healthiest galette I’ve ever had. Usually galettes are served with a side salad 🥗(typically thrown on top) to balance off the hearty filling inside, but this one felt more like the salad was the filling itself.  True to its name, you get a generous amount of avocado 🥑 along with a mix of greens, cherry tomatoes and seeds, topped with yoghurt sauce.  It was really light and easy to finish, however, I would probably go for a more traditional filling next time. 🤤 3.5/5  𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲 𝗟𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲 Also not something I’d typically go for, but this one was surprisingly quite good! The salted butter caramel and chocolate ice cream complimented each other and the almonds added more texture to the dish. Would be even better if it was less sweet.🤤 3.5/5  𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲 𝗟𝗮 𝗚𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲 A bit of a miss. The tiramisu ice cream and the Nutella were too sweet, and the fruits 🍓🍌 didn’t go together that well. 🤤 3/5  🌱 Vegetarian friendly: Galettes are easy to manoeuvre, you can always ask them to skip certain ingredients! 😎 Nice vibe: Lovely service and comfy atmosphere. 💰 HK$200-300 pp⭐️ Overall rating: 3.5/5 🤔 Revisit? Maybe. To be honest there are better crêperies in town but I may still give it another go.…查看更多

Sea-view restaurant serving authentic Sichuan food
鄧記川菜
2022-10-27
Modern sea-view restaurant serving up authentic Sichuan flavours with a vegetarian-friendly menu. 🇨🇳📍𝐓𝐬𝐢𝐦 𝐒𝐡𝐚 𝐓𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐆 𝐒𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐚𝐧 @dengg.hongkong Chinese cuisine is not exactly the most accommodating for plant-based diets but recently I’ve discovered more Chinese restaurants that include a meatless menu. First visit to Deng G, I wanted to try their special vegetarian curated with @eatplantsifu plantsifu (offered now till end of Oct). Unfortunately, I visited one week too early 🥺but I was glad to have found other vegetarian options on the regular menu.𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝗳𝘂 𝗖𝘂𝗯𝗲𝘀 (HK$88)So crispy and yum! The tofu were cut up into tiny cubes which made it perfect for deep frying. It came with a dish of seasoning but it was already quite flavourful without extra dipping. Would prefer if the salt could be taken down a bit.🤤 4/5𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗼𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝘁 (HK$168)Favourite dish of the night - even for my meat-loving friend! Unlike most Sichuan Dry Pot, this one was not oily at all and the flavouring was perfect with just the right amount of heat! 🌶They also have the same pot with pork inside, so make sure you specify to get the vegetarian one when you order. ☝🏻🤤 4.5/5𝗩𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀 (HK$48)I was so happy to spot this on the menu, especially when it’s a one-person portion. 🍜 However, it was not the kind of nutty, mild flavour that I expected. This one was quite spicy and I couldn’t taste any peanut flavours. 🤤 3.5/5𝗦𝗶𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗰𝗲 𝗝𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆 (HK$48)The kind of Chinese jelly that doesn’t need gelatin. First time seeing haw flakes on ice jelly - brought me a lot of childhood memories at the Chinese doctor’s. 😂 If it was served colder would be more enjoyable. 🤤 3.5/5🌱 Vegetarian-friendly: Plenty of options, from starters to mains! 😍 Harbour view: They also have a small outdoor area overlooking Victoria Harbour with a separate menu of reasonable priced drinks and bar snacks.💰 HK$200-350 pp
⭐️ Overall rating: 4/5🤔 Revisit? Yes! Would like to come with a bigger group next time to try more of their dishes! 😋…查看更多

Neighbourhood eatery with signature handmade pasta
Pici
2022-10-27
Neighbourhood pasta bar with signature hand rolled truffle tagliolini and more Italian delicacies. 🇮🇹📍𝐋𝐚𝐢 𝐂𝐡𝐢 𝐊𝐨𝐤𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐢 @picihk For the last 5 years (time flies!), Pici has stepped into different neighbourhoods expanding from HK Island to Kowloon and NT.It has remained one of my favourite restaurants since the very first branch in Wan Chai. Back then, it was so difficult to get seats and they (still) don’t take reservations but definitely always worth waiting up for their amazing, fresh handmade pasta. This is my first visit to this LCK branch, I have visited 3 of their other locations and hands down to their consistency. 🙌 Definitely not an easy job to get the flavours right and to replicate it over all the kitchens!𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐮 (3 Starters + 2 Pasta + 2 Dessert) (HK$290 pp)𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 (+HK$25)Must order every time! Perfect combo with their bread, which is equally enjoyable with just vinegar and olive oil.🤤 4/5𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 & 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗱 First time trying this salad from them. Pear 🍐 in salad is an awesome idea especially for hot summer days. The touches of salt from Parmesan on top complemented the sweetness from the pear and honey mustard dressing. 🤤 4/5𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗹𝗲 (+HK$25)Pici’s signature dish. Been in love with this one since my first visit years ago.The texture of their handmade tagliolini is everything here, the white truffle paste is creamy without being over-the-top. It’s served in just the right portion that fills you but also leave you wanting just a little bit more. 🤌🤤 4.5/5𝗧𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘂 My guilty pleasure. Tiramisu is my favourite dessert and I went through a phrase of emptying boxes of family size tiramisu from different places. 😅 Pici’s tiramisu is generally quite good, minus the once or twice when it tasted a bit off.🤤 4/5🌱 Vegetarian-friendly: Basically I order the same dishes every time I come. They always have few vegetarian pasta and starter options on the menu.👏 Great service as always, amazing consistency to the food quality!💰 HK$200-350 pp

We came for lunch on a weekday, it was busy but not too packed so we didn’t have to wait and could sit comfortably. They have two different sets for lunch and we ordered one of each.  𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 (HK$98) (3 Starters + Main + Dessert) 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐮𝐱𝐞 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 (HK$188) (2 Starters + Sushi Platter + Grilled Platter + Main + Dessert)  𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿🤤 4.5/5  𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 We got grilled okras and teriyaki enoki rolls wrapped in soya bean skin, both delicious! 🤤 4.5/5  𝘚𝘛𝘈𝘙𝘛𝘌𝘙 (8 options)  𝗞𝗼𝘆𝗮 𝗧𝗼𝗳𝘂 Soft and juicy, simply satisfying. 🤤 4.5/5  𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝘆𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘁 🤤 4.5/5  𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗱 My personal favourite- the avocado 🥑 and tofu were creamy which went perfectly with crunchy coleslaw. 🤤 5/5  𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗴𝗴 🤤 4.5/5  𝗣𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗮The batter was thin and the natural sweetness of the pumpkin was amazing. 🤤 5/5  𝘔𝘈𝘐𝘕 (6 options)  𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻 (+HK$20) So colourful and refreshing. I love the chewy texture of the ramen. The veggies on top were all fresh and light - perfect for summer! 🍜 🤤 4.5/5  𝗩𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 (+HK$10) I love the curry base, a classic Japanese style which was sweet and mild. The Japanese rice was cooked perfectly. However, I only got few potato cubes which was a bit disappointing. 🍛 🤤 3.5/5  𝘋𝘌𝘚𝘚𝘌𝘙𝘛  𝗧𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘂 𝗠𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗶 Great end to the meal, the mochi was very QQ and not overly sweet. 🤤 4.5/5  🌱 Vegetarian-paradise: So many options even for set lunch, they are also vegan-friendly, you can request to skip milk and or egg. 🍲 They have seasonal Omakase sets for dinner including one with shabu shabu! 💰 HK$110-210 pp ⭐️ Overall rating: 4.5/5 🤔 Revisit? Absolutely! 💯 This is the kind of vegetarian food that I love the most - no processed foods, minimal seasoning that highlights the natural freshness of the plants. 🌱…查看更多

Vibrant eatery delivering authentic bold Thai food
Samsen 泰館
2022-10-27
Vibrant eatery delivering authentic, bold Thai street food flavours to Hong Kong. 🇹🇭📍 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐧 @samsenhk Named after a neighbourhood in Bangkok where historically the Chinese and Thais traded, Samsen has been popular from the day it opened its door in Wan Chai in 2016.This Sheung Wan branch is a newer addition and my personal favourite because it has more seating and you usually wouldn’t have to wait too long for a table. The two locations’ menus are slightly different but they both have plenty of dishes that can be prepared vegetarian on request. Decorated with colourful vintage posters all over the place, the restaurant has a casual and lively atmosphere. With friendly staff and upbeat music, you definitely feel like you’re transported to a Bangkok night market! ✈️𝗣𝗮𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶 (HK$148)The best vegetarian pad Thai in town! This is my go-to dish on every visit. Fresh and flavourful, you get traditional sweet-savoury pad Thai flavours - balanced by the punch of fresh lime and crunches from peanuts, green papaya and pea shoots. 🌱🤤 4.5/5𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗸 𝗧𝗲𝗮 (+HK$18)Classic flavour with the right amount of sweetness and ice. Just one sip is enough to take me back to Bangkok.🧋🤤 4/5𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 (HK$78)Fragrant and so milky! 🍨This is my first pandan-flavoured ice cream but for some reason it reminds me of childhood. More on the sweet side but the toasted peanuts and coconut meat on top helped balance the sweetness and added more texture. If you’re not keen on something too sweet, I’d recommend trying the coconut flavour instead! 🥥🤤 4/5🌱 Vegetarian-friendly: More than half of the menu can be made vegetarian - amazing!💁🏻‍♀️ Make sure you try their banana Nutella roti (only available for dinner), just so good!💰 HK$180-240 pp
⭐️ Overall rating: 4/5
🤔 Revisit? Definitely! This is my favourite spot to get my fix of comforting Thai food. Have been visiting since its early days and still amazed by how consistently good their food is! 😋…查看更多

Popular neighbourhood café with vegetarian-focused menu and amazing baked goods. 🌿📍 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐤 𝐓𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐬𝐮𝐢 / 𝐇𝐊𝐔 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟏𝟒 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐞 @14southlaneMy go-to café for delicious bakes and healthy pancakes 🥞, 14 South Lane is a great place to bring your meat-eating friends because their menu is 80% vegetarian and this way you can easily nudge them to eat plant-based!The owners care a lot about sustainability and community so everything from their menu to supplier selection to packaging and recycling are given a great deal of thoughts. They have two cute tables outside and a cosy, spacious indoor seating that tend to get quite busy on weekends. 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗱𝗲𝗿 (HK$88) 𝚅The texture was a lot thicker than I expected. There were a lot of garlic croutons both on the top and inside, which added texture and went well with the chowder. Would love it more if the soup had a stronger roasted garlic flavour.🤤 4/5𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗰𝗵 (HK$138)A feast for the eyes and stomach, this is a dish that I always order and enjoy. This beautiful Moroccan-inspired bowl🇲🇦 is made up of tabbouleh, spinach pea falafel, hummus, pita bread, honey halloumi, smokey harissa, roasted zucchini and marinated olives. It was super nourishing and wholesome as usual, I loved everything, especially the smokey harissa which was not spicy but went so well with the zucchini and falafel. Great dish to share or to enjoy all by yourself!🤤 4/5𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗸 𝗻’ 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲 (HK$52) 𝚅First time trying this non-caffeinated latte ☕️ made from raw beetroot juice, cinnamon and vegan milk of your choice. I picked almond milk this time (+HK$3). The beetroot flavour wasn’t overpowering but was definitely there - I liked the earthiness from the beet and what a cute pink colour!🤤 4/5🌱 Vegetarian paradise: Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options - everyone would be happy here!🥖 AMAZING bakes: Heavenly banana bread, carrot cake, sourdough, so far everything I’ve tried was good! 💰 HK$150-250 pp
⭐️ Overall rating: 4/5
🤔 Revisit? For sure! Was too full to try their Red Velvet Parfait Pancake but I’ll definitely be back before they change the flavour!…查看更多

Famed New York pizzeria’s offshoot
Motorino (船街)
2022-10-27
Famed New York pizzeria’s offshoot serving up authentic baked to order Neapolitan pizzas in Hong Kong.🗽🇭🇰📍𝐖𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 @motorinohk Greeted by the aroma of fresh pizza the moment you enter, Motorino is a modern pizzeria that specialises in Napoli-style pizza, honouring the birthplace of pizza. All their pies are baked in a dome shaped brick-oven, which cooks in extremely high heat for less than ninety seconds, keeping the inside still soft while the crust slightly charred. 🤌This Ship Street branch is my friend’s favourite lunch spot so I was really eager to try it out for the first time.𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 1 Appetiser + 1 Pizza (HK$148)𝗥𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻Really good! A party of flavours - covered by lemon butter, the sweetness of the corn 🌽 is complimented by saltiness from Parmesan cheese, heat from Calabrian chilli 🌶 and some herbiness from parsley.🤤 4/5𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗵 & 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘇𝗮 (+HK$88)Really nice dough, but the flavour was a bit underwhelming. Was expecting a lot more smokiness from the scamorza cheese. Overall it was slightly bland and didn’t do justice to the pizza dough. I wish I had ordered a more traditional tomato-based pizza instead which may be more flavourful. 🤤 3.5/5🌱 Vegetarian-friendly: Italian food 🇮🇹 is an easy go-to as you always get classic vegetarian pizzas 🍕 like Margherita and Four Cheese.💰 HK$200-300 pp
⭐️ Overall rating: 3.5/5
🤔 Revisit? Maybe. Will definitely stick to the regular flavours on the lunch menu next time because it wasn’t really worth the money.…查看更多

Vibrant Japanese-American fusion restaurant
Kyoto Joe
2022-10-26
Vibrant Japanese-American fusion restaurant with an extensive vegetarian menu. 🥢  📍 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥  𝐊𝐲𝐨𝐭𝐨 𝐉𝐨𝐞 @kyotojoelkf   The last time I went for a Japanese buffet was back in Amsterdam in 2016, probably few months before I became vegetarian. Visiting this place brought me back some good old memories when I was desperately looking for some comfort food to cure my homesickness.   Not exactly a big fan of Japanese cuisine but sushi has been my favourite food for a long time. That’s why I was so psyched when I first knew that Kyoto Joe has an vegetarian all-you-can-eat dinner exclusive on Mon-Wed nights.  𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 ($428 pp) Great deal considering that there are more than 20 kinds of dishes, from appetisers to maki rolls to robata skewers and more hot dishes. They serve in sequence and you can order more of any you like, here are some highlights of the night. ✨  𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗩𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗲 Great start to the night! The mixed vegetable tempura were crunchy and so yum on a lettuce.  🤤 4.5/5  𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘀 A platter of 6 different maki rolls! My favourites out of all were 𝗬𝗮𝗺 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹 (loved the aroma from shiso leaf and plum 🌸) and 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹 (avocado and mixed tempura). The rest were all very nice, creative combinations and fun flavours!  🤤 4/5  𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗶 𝗦𝗸𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 🤤 3/5  𝗞𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗯𝘂 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗯𝘂 A bit underwhelming.  🤤 3/5  𝗖𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗮  More Sino-Indian than Japanese because of the thick batter and the sriracha sauce. 🤤 3/5  𝗩𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝘆𝗼𝘇𝗮 Not the slightly sweet Japanese Gyoza I was expecting.  🤤 3/5  𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗹𝗲 𝗢𝗶𝗹  I love rice so had to order a small bowl although we were already very full. Nothing special.  🤤 3/5 🌱 Vegetarian friendly: So rare to find vegetarian all-you-and-eat in a non-vegetarian restaurant! The whole table has to order same menu so make sure your friends are on board. 👹 Lively atmosphere, great view and friendly service. 💰 HK$450-550 pp  ⭐️ Overall rating: 3.5/5 🤔 Revisit? Maybe, probably not this dinner set because it’s just too much much food.…查看更多

Modern noodle bar with unique Korean fusion menu
Dama Noodle Bar
2022-10-26
Modern noodle bar with unique Korean fusion menu. 🇰🇷  📍𝐒𝐚𝐢 𝐘𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐮𝐧 𝐃𝐀𝐌:𝐀 @dama.noodlebar   I came to know this place because of their Home Ramen Pack on delivery apps and was excited to see that they have vegetarian ramen. As a ramen lover, I had to come and try it myself in person!🍜 𝗩𝗲𝗴 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻 (HK$108) Smoked potato broth, shiitake, leek, wood ear mushroom, soy egg   The noodles were the star in the bowl - chewy and simply cooked to perfection🤌. The broth was rather unique for ramen, it was thinner and not greasy at all. I liked the natural sweetness of the soup which gave a nice homey and wholesome feeling to it, very different than your typical salty Japanese-style ramen soup.   Usually I’d feel really full and find it difficult to finish a whole bowl of ramen, but this felt really light and healthy so I finished all with ease. That being said, I usually crave for ramen with soup that is more creamy and rich - just a personal preference here. 🤤 3.5/5  🌱 Vegetarian friendly: They have a small menu, but they do vegetarian ramen and Dubu (Tofu) Kimchi (unsure if they use fish sauce in their recipe). 👍🏻 Friendly service 💰 HK$120-150 pp  ⭐️ Overall rating: 3.5/5 🤔 Revisit? I really loved the texture of the noodle, definitely will revisit if there is another vegetarian option on the menu - maybe some Naengmyeon? 😍  Side note here because I still have space to write and it’s rare ✍️: Anyone with another Korean restaurant with vegetarian menu to recommend? I miss the time travelling in Seoul, especially all the food adventures in the local markets.🥲…查看更多

Indo-French fusion eatery with an eclectic menu
Pondi
2022-10-26
Indo-French fusion restaurant tucked away in a cul-de-sac with an eclectic menu and warm, welcoming atmosphere. 🇮🇳🇫🇷📍𝐒𝐚𝐢 𝐖𝐚𝐧 / 𝐒𝐚𝐢 𝐘𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐮𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢 @pondihkAn ode to Pondicherry (a former French colony in South India), Pondi is a small bistro hidden at the end of Fuk Sau Lane. It is from the same team of former Indian BlackSalt Kitchen @blacksaltkitchen, wine bar Brut! @brut_hk and New York style bodega Fat Chad’s @fatchads, all in the Sai Ying Pun neighbourhood. 🙌𝘚𝘔𝘈𝘓𝘓 𝘉𝘐𝘛𝘌𝘚𝗧𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀 (HK$128)Explosion of flavours! An untypical take on beetroot salad, the earthiness from the beets was well-balanced by the creamy parsnip pureé underneath and the beautiful, fresh dill on top. 🌿🤤 4.5/5𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀 (HK$95)Avocado 🥑 and so much more - unique spin on traditional street food Chaat. You can taste so much flavours and textures, especially with the punchy pomegranate and crisp papadums. 🤤 4.5/5𝘔𝘈𝘐𝘕 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮 (HK$128)A hot one! Not as memorable as the other dishes but still yum.🤤 4/5𝘚𝘐𝘋𝘌𝘚𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 (HK$55)A rather big portion compared to the other dishes - went really nice with the korma.🤤 4/5𝗚𝗼𝘂𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗲 (HK$55)Must try! It was actually my first time trying a gougère so I had no idea what to expect. The bread was homemade freshly baked, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. An easy 5/5 if it arrived earlier instead of at the end but still, what a treat! 🤤 4.5/5🌱 Vegetarian friendly: Yes! A good portion of their menu is vegetarian (also some vegan and gluten-free options) 🤩 Simple but effective menu, although the place was small but it felt intimate and cosy.💰 HK$250-500 pp
